Nevermind, it finally loaded up. Keep in mind, this process took about 10 minutes for me, plus or minus. Also, the OS setup prompts you to update certain apps. After all that, all my home screen icons were out of place, and all my downloaded apps were in the "Downloads" folder. Hope this helps.

Tour OS 5.0 Upgrade

Hey, just ran the 5.0 upgrade on my Tour. All went well until I went in after the upgrade and it prompted me to reboot to allow all of my apps to have their permissions set. After that reboot, my Tour just comes up with the "verizon wireless" logo and hangs there. Any ideas? Thanks.

It's called "Tour" because its being released to coincide with U2's 360 Tour this summer, which RIM is sponsoring.

Does anyone have a date/timeframe for this? I like so many have been waiting for a new VZW BB...still running on my LG vx8700 (solid phone) and from work I have the Blackberry 8700c on at&t. Been looking for a personal Blackberry to upgrade my LG but better than the current vzw curve, and my contract is up in May...

Good find...nice post. For me I'm torn between waiting for this or getting the VX8700 which looks pretty sweet. Any advice?

What would be good is a solid non-slim phone. perhaps slimmer than the 8300, internal antenna...i think this would be a goldmine for LG and Verizon. I'm not impressed with the 8700 razr-esque keypad

Is there any way to silence the chime heard when you start recording a video and when the recording ends. I believe there is also another chime when a picture is taken. Thanks.

TransFlash questions
Jun 6, 2006, 1:21 PM
in the LG VX-8300 forum

I'm kind of new to transflash and my 8300 is on the FedEx truck as I sit here typing(upgrading from a VX6000 that served me well). I bought the SanDisk 1gb card and the SanDisk MobileMate card reader and have a few questions. 1. How do I format my card for MP3s and video for the phone? 2. Will I have to do the Menu 0's to enable Mp3s? 3. What video format will the phone read, and whats the best ...

Maybe it is better to wait, you never know. They could have already made minor revisions to the first batch of phones that were produced which are on sale now. Who knows when these first phones could have made it off the production line...it could have been months ago.

What about grainy pictures? The 8100 took less than great pics indoors. I don't own an 8100, but every one I've tried in the stores had a huge camera delay and bad picture quality. Has LG made any improvments with these on the 8300?

May 25, 2006, 2:57 PM
in the LG VX-8300 forum

Probably because the new TransFlash Ultra II cards are out (amazon 59.99 for 1gb). I could be wrong but these Ultra II cards have faster read/write speeds. With that said, does anyone know if these new microSD cards will be compatible with the 8300, and 1gb at that?

Re: guess i am going with the 8300

in the Nokia 6265i forum

I was hoping for this phone as well for a long time. I guess the 8300 is the best bet at this point (no hard dates for that either). My only concern with the 8300 is the picture quality and delay. I don't own the 8100, but from trying it out in the stores I noticed quite a long picture delay and grainy pictures. I really hope LG have got there act together for this new phone.

Why couldn't Verizon just release their version of the BLADE (Sprint MM-A900) with the addition of TransFlash..seems close enough to this phone

camera delay / volume issues / grainy pictures / video length
May 19, 2006, 12:50 PM

Can anyone verify that there is no picture delays, volume issues, or "grainy" picture taking as there was with the 8100? Also is the 1 hour video limit true for non-flix messaging video?

Thanks gunny... From what I read off hofo, this phone will be limited to 15 second videos...and that's pathetic. if anyone can confirm or deny that would be great.

This looks like "the chosen one" for me. Some questions though if anyone knows: 1) is the video length limited to a couple of seconds or is it unlimited (battery or memory card capacity) 2) Will it support 1GB transflash? 3) Picture taking delay and volume issues?

I just came across an article that was posted yesterday saying that the FCC approved two possible releases for VZW, the A870, which has been seen, and now an A645! Click the link below to see a blurry pic (an FCC photo). Has anyone heard of this model? http://www.phonearena.com/htmls/Sam sung-SCH-A870-and-A645-coming-to-Verizon-arti cle-a_1167.html
