I'm pretty sure Sprint brought them all into the fold, after the Nextel deal. Except iPCS of course. Certainly, I don't think there are any out there who are causing litigious grief. But, I'm wondering if they've now all been bought-out.

"compatible w/networks operated by ... MetroPCS & Cricket" ??

Based on the spec's, I'd guess this is compatible with VZW/Alltel & Sprint, as well those listed in the article. Am I missing something? Also, it's already be stated the US Cellular is offering this device. Just wondering. Was there a reason to call out Metro & Cricket?

Re: Sprint Family Locator?

Anyone know if SFL uses info already in the network? Or, does it take a unique action to locate the device (via GPS &/or cell triangulation, I assume)? If something is triggered between the network and device, what actually happens? Does this action require some type of action/response by the device (not the user, I know that's not required)? Does locating a device via SFL cause any drain on the device power/battery?

Sprint only charge $5 per month and you can located up to 4 phones. It's been out for some time now. Wonder why ATT is charging twice as much for 1/2 the devices.

Anyone have experience with this feature? Can you provide any comment or opinion? I've temporarily got it turned-on on my account. Seems pretty cool, since I've got kids on my account. Appears that accuracy can vary greatly (10-15 yards, on the low-end - 1.5 mile radius, on the high-end). Seems that the Centro isn't nearly as accurate as others. Is that consistent across all Centros? Or, could it be this particular one. Rant & Instinct seem more precise. Is this the exact ...

I understand that Samsung has released a new firmware to address this issue. Couple of questions? - Does completely fix it? i.e. any reports of freezing w/the new firmware? - Does the freezing issue occur under certain circumstances/during certain functions? - Can someone provide the firmware release rev of the 'fixed' version? Thanks!

Thanks, Thomas. Finally got around to doing this. Was fairly simple. Took a few tries to get the .jad file to load to the phone. Not sure what happened. Finally, it just did on 4th or 5th try. Any insiders have an idea when Sprint will launch their version of the next Treo? Rumors have indicated that they'll get two new Treo 700s. One running Palm OS, another running Window's Mobile (which VZW already has a temporary exclusive on). Anything better than "rumor" out there?

I think Sprint is trialing all of the above. Last I heard they were still a member of the WiMax forum. Of course they're tight w/QCOM. I beleive Nextel trialed Flarion (in N.C.) prior the merger and QCOM's acquistion of Flarion. Looks like Sprint is trying to keep bets on most all horses in the 4G race.

Boost Web Content?

Can the content available via the Boost Wireless Web feature be modified? Is there anyway to gain access to the Nextel content? As you know, Boost targets the hip-hop demographic. Hence, no News links. They've got Sports, Music, Games etc. I recently gave a Boost phone to my 75 year old dad. I don't see him chirpin w/his homies, often. But, I think he might want to ball scores and CNN news etc.

Forsyth, they already owned 32% of NXTP. TOTAL value of NXTP was averaged at $9.2 B. So, they only had to pay $6.2B. Also, you implied you were referring to THIS purchase costing $15B. Yes, acquiring all of the PCS affiliates is starting to add up. But, they knew going into their deal w/NXTL that they were gonna have satisfy them (acquisition or renogotiate their agreements). But, they still not up $15B.

O.K. So say I re-boost for $20 on day 89, with $2 left from previous boost (per your example), so I'll have $22. Then, on day 91, I'll still have $22? Or, will I lose the $2? Assuming, I keep re-boosting for $20, every 90 days, the previous credits will/will not go up in smoke? W/Virgin, you never lose your previous credits, as long as you "Top-Up" every 90 days. I'm considering buying/giving a Boost phone to someone who doesn't really need or use phone on regular basis. Brand Recognition/Eqity

You gotta remember that in the US & worldwide, ATT has huge recognition. Historically, for 100 years, T has been associated w/positive growth. Over the last dozen years or so, those of us in the industry have recognized that they made many misguided decisions and mismanaged much of their wireline & wireless business operations. However, much of the $16B SBC paid was for the value of the brand. So, it's not surprising that SBC would change their corp identity ...

I'd guess that 1) The work around is NOT as good as their current model. 2) Even if it is similarly as effective, they don't want to incurr the cost/effort to initiate the change, if they can avoid it (by making the NTP issue go away).

Wireline WAN substitution
Nov 17, 2005, 7:14 PM
in the Article: EV-DO Revision B Standard Finalized forum

These bonded channel configs will lend themselves to being able to replace "last mile" access circuits on traditional wired WAN technologies. I think you can look for Frame Relay & MPLS networks to be delivered by this capability in the future, eliminating the RBOC local local loop. Sure it would be great to have DS3 speeds to a single laptop. But, I don't think that's the practical application for this.

Yes. From customer and marketplace perspective, an MVNO is "new cellular company." They will be using Sprint & VZW's networks, but that's transparent to users etc.
