Re: Anyone feel the 8100 is over rated?
Jul 17, 2005, 12:54 PM
in the LG VX-8100 forum

It is probably underated judging by all of the negative comments. In fact, it is off to a pretty bad start, you got people with complaints on all fronts, it can't be as bad as all of the reviews. I agree that the styling is not very attractive but it has to be better than people are saying.

Re: I Got it!!!!! GREAT PHONE
Jul 14, 2005, 2:27 PM
in the LG VX-8100 forum

Handled the 8100 yesterday, no way is this phone "better phone than the E815 in every way". Same build quality, better flip on the 8100, absolutely riddiculous to say that the menu system and screen "blow anything out of the water". In fact, the menu system was similar to my tired old LG 4400, the E815 screen and menus is far more refined and classier. The looks with the side speakers is a little goofy, the ...

8100 major issues vs E815 major issues
Jul 14, 2005, 2:18 PM
in the LG VX-8100 forum

I have just done a quick scan on this 8100 forum and so far you got "clarity issues, voice mail and blue tooth pairing problems, MPS and memory complaints, pic sending problems, plenty of ugly words thrown around like crippled, nuetered, bastardized, etc." Sounds like the same mixed bag of complaints on the good ol' E815 forum. I don't think the 8100 is any more prone to problems than the E815, I think you got people that ...

Re: e815 vs. vx8100 ... need help picking phone!!
Jul 14, 2005, 2:01 PM
in the LG VX-8100 forum

I agree with the original thread starter, I picked up an 8100 and thought it was a little boring as well. The way people were talking about the 8100 build quality I was expecting something special but it is the same ol' plastic on every cell phone. The screen is vibrant but small. Reliability aside, I think the E815 is a much more interesting phone, has comparable or better specs in a side by side comparison. ...

My battery seems to charge down pretty quick
Jul 13, 2005, 6:47 PM
in the Motorola E815 / E816 Hollywood forum

Hey, looking for some advice, my E815 battery will go from 1/2 charged to zero overnight just sitting there. I am coming from an LG with a basic display which could sit around for two or three days and not drain entirely. Is it to be expected with these newer phones with the more elaborate displays that they will run down every day or do you all think I might have a defective battery?

Checked out the 8100, better build? You have to be kidding...
Jul 13, 2005, 6:43 PM
in the Motorola E815 / E816 Hollywood forum

I have owned the E815 for a week or so and have been avidly reading the forums. I have been quick to temper some of the lunacy by basically saying that both phones are feature rich and for the most part comparable. The more that I read the early 8100 opinions, the more curious I became as to whether I had the best available phone. I am coming from a LG 4400 which served me well for a couple ...

Re: What to do? Trade e815 for VX8100 or not?
Jul 13, 2005, 11:26 AM
in the LG VX-8100 forum

Don't listen to any opinions that are extreme, anybody who says that the differences are huge is a kid. The reality is that the phones are close in features and specs, whether you perceive the build quality, prefer the speaker phone or vibrate mode on one or the other is subjective. The differences spec wise that caught my attention were the size of the display, battery life and phone book. Assuming that my phone operates properly, ...

Re: My E815 complaints
Jul 13, 2005, 11:16 AM
in the LG VX-8100 forum

It seems like from this thread what separates these phones from folks that have tried both is the 8100 fans value things like the speaker phone, external display, vibrate mode, build quality. People who like the E815 value the ability to use the speaker phone closed, bigger and maybe better display. In terms of build quality, I wouldn't doubt that the 8100 feels a little sturdier, for me, my E815 is incapsulated in a leather case so ...

Jul 12, 2005, 3:37 PM
in the Motorola E815 / E816 Hollywood forum

Went by the Circuit City today to inquire about the E815 and they said they sold out within days of the original release and are back ordered for another shipment. My phone apparently has the vcast software, the Verizon website has the phone advertised and vcast is not available yet in my area. None of this matters to me because I didn't purchase the phone for vcast.

I agree, I have posted several times that these phones are more similar than they are different in terms of features. If you are upgrading from a two your old phone, either one of these is going to put a smile on your face. I understand that for some of the folks here switching phones is a lifestyle and they are a little more critical but the one thing that is universal, if your phone isn't clear ...

"I can't believe the "mine is better than yours" mentality on this E815 vs the 8100 discussion. First of all, if you went by consumer reviews, nobody would purchase an LG because they are prone to dropping calls and nobody would consider a Motorola because of reliability issues. I think that the answer is that cell phones are not as reliable as they should be but some of the negative comments are skewed because of some people's inability to ...

Supersonic, How did I insult you? I just countered each one of your arguements, I didn't single you out and criticize you personally. Who are you to tell me that my opinion was "unecessary", I have been civil in my comments and don't think anything I have said is outrageous. Don't forget, you are the one the jumped to the conclusion that the E815 was better than the VX8100 and then did 360 degree turn around within ...

Hey man, we all feel for you if you are having problems with your phone, you are going through the fear that we all have when purchasing something expensive. However, you made yourself a target by being such a staunch supporter than switching gears all because things aren't working out for you. At one point it was the best thing since sliced bread and then it was the biggest piece of crap ever. Just like you ...

Re: LG SITE DOWN
Jul 11, 2005, 3:58 PM
in the LG VX-8100 forum

It is kind of poetic, on a day where my joy is stolen by having to endure the speculation by LG fans that my beloved E815 is a failure because it is not on the Verizon website in some markets, LG's website dissapears entirely, I wonder what that means if we must jump to conclusions. The reality is, the E815 needs software updating in order to view the worthless 15 second video clips known as vcast. Thankfully I ...

Why would you be dissapointed by the lack of blue tooth connectivity other than the headset, didn't you read the posts on the V710 and how people loved to use the word "cripple"? Didn't you figure that after that debacle, irregardless of any claims, the blue tooth would have the same limits on the E815? I wouldn't sweat it though, having a wireless headset is enough of a joy to make most blue tooth enabled phones worthwhile. Regarding ...

Jul 11, 2005, 2:07 PM
in the LG VX-8100 forum

I have handled both LG phones and Motorolas and my opinion is that they are both made of plastic and my opinion is that neither phone is a "world apart". I just don't see the build quality difference that some people do, maybe this is because my phone has been incapsulated in a leather case from the day I got it, who knows, maybe I am missing out on the joy of a better constructed phone. I have read many of the debates between which is better and was waiting for the old "the 8100 is better for your health" arguement. Maybe that is why those of us who chose they E815 over the LG did so because our brains were fried from past Motorola's. In fact you can tell Motorola owners from LG owners in the streets, if you look closely, people with Motorolas tend to have dialated pupils and they have ...

Motoman, I am shocked. You give every E815 owner the feeling that the glass is always half full in the quirky world of cell phones. The fact that you are no longer a believer in the E815 is a major blow to the cause, I mean that in all seriousness. It just goes to show you, whenever you jump on board and support something so vocally, you always get burned. That is why I have ...

I wanted get bent out of shape about it, the V710 and the E815 are in the same ballpark, they will perform similarly for what matters most, making and receiving calls.

Nothing wrong with hangin on to the V710, it is a good phone. I had the V710 and traded up to the E815 during my two week trial, initially, I had a little remorse because the V710 worked fine for me. However, the longer I own the E815, the more I can appreciate the little refinements. It is almost like Motorola looked at a good product and said "where can we make it better". Main ...

E815 Speaker phone
Jul 8, 2005, 8:55 PM
in the Motorola E815 / E816 Hollywood forum

When I purchased my V710 I read alot of reviews and universally the one thing everyone agreed on was that the speaker phone was great. Now that I own a E815 and have been reading some of the comments, I am curious on whether those who have owned both phones can compare the speaker phone. I think I have read a couple of complaints about it but assumed it would be the same calibur as the V710. ...

Phone tools question
Jul 7, 2005, 4:27 PM
in the Motorola E815 / E816 Hollywood forum

Forgive me if this has been covered but it is not obvious to me, what phone tools kit will work with the E815 and where do I purchase it. I bought the one for the V710 at Verizon and was curious to know if they will be coming out with a separate version for the E815. Also, I am interested in syncing outlook with my phone, is "phone tools" what I need? Thanks in advance.

Here is the deal I got....
Jul 7, 2005, 4:24 PM
in the Motorola E815 / E816 Hollywood forum

Used the $100 credit for "new every two" and purchased the phone for $150, with the $50 mail in rebate the phone is free. The promotion also came with a free Motorola V265, I sold my wife's Samsung and my old LG on ebay and made $80 which offset the two new accessory packs and an HS810 headset which I found on clearance at staples for $30. I think the whole transaction cost me $10 and we ...

Don't get me wrong, the E815 is a beautiful phone and has more features than I need on a phone. If it does the basics well, then I am glad I chose it over the comparable LG. As I understand it, you can get the E815 for the same price or less than a V710 so I would get the E815 just because it should be as good as the V710 and a little more refined in ...

I just got the E815 and was "upgrading" from a V710 which worked just fine. I don't see alot of difference in the phones, battery should be better which is a clear advantage, the feel and features for the most part are comparable. I'd say that if it is going to cost you money and you have had a bad track record with your V710, either ride is out with your V710 if you think it is ...

I have been using the E815 for a solid day after trading in my V710. As I have stated before, anyone who brags about the E815 having a better build quality than the V710 is disillusioned, they both have the same plastic type feel, nothing cheap, pretty much cell phone standard fare and nothing to criticize or brag about. Early issues are as follows: I have had some intermittently echoing on a few calls, for some reason ...

I really anticipate using the E815 to send and receive calls for the most part, I figure that compared to the V710, I am getting a better battery which should be an upgrade for my needs.
