unlocked GPS on Verizon Wireless!

in the BlackBerry Tour 9630 forum

Not sure how this hasn't come up on this forum yet. Believe it or not Verizon released the Tour with unlocked GPS. Google maps is tracking me perfectly as we speak. Looks like Verizon is finally moving in the right direction! It also sounds like all future Verizon BB's will have WIFI as well. Now if they could manage to be the first to release a 4G Iphone they'd be set up perfectly for ...

Briefly The phone looks excellent, display are detailed and bright. I still can't believe how big the internal display is. It feels like it should be the same size as the 9900 but it's noticeably bigger. The touch screen requires a little more pressure than i anticipated. I thought it would be more like the touch controls on other mobile phones like the Gleam, K1M, etc. Doesn't take long to get used to. Dialing with the outside touch ...

as expected this is following the same trend as recent LG phones. you can only access the menu with the phone open dial ##776472610000 send 000000 I didn't see much to really mess with in this menu aside from network selection which is usually a bad idea to touch anyway. you can view your web homepage but i can't seem to change it. there is also an option called "W2BI - CHARGINGPOPUP" you have options for popup enable or popup disable. couldn't ...

at least in my area there is a huge push behind these phones(voyager, venus, and the pearly) i got at least 10 emails today regarding these phones. demo readiness, employee training, release dates and such. not sure how anyone could be unaware of the release dates at this point.

the software to sync with your pc is a one time purchase, not a monthly fee. it uses the usb cable that is provided with the phone.

i believe the inbox was 200 messages. it didn't go into specifics on the sent messages or drafts but they're usually the same. it is definitely a partitioned memory though. meaning you can't just use any available memory for it like on the q

Re: Wireless Sync
Nov 13, 2007, 6:23 AM
in the LG Voyager VX-10000 forum

I don't think you'll even need wireless sync in your case. The phone comes with a usb data cable and is designed to sync your calendar and contacts with outlook. If you're just looking to backup I'd go for this option and skip the monthly cost. Wireless sync is really designed for people who need access to their email at all times. Unless you have someone other than yourself updating your calendar on a regular ...

there was a lot of misinformation on this which will hopefully be cleared up before retail release of the phone. as i posted earlier on this site i was informed by one of our own data reps that the $45 dollar data plan would be necessary. the same rep changed her story the next time i talked to her and said that she had been misinformed. they released an online training for employees which should clear ...

Verizon won't credit back fee's for re-downloads if you've upgraded your phone. This is for legal reasons as mentioned before. They will credit you back for re-downloads if the phone is swapped under warranty.

i think dram was referring to the new every two credit. you will get the 2 year sales price and mail in or instant rebates.

no, you don't need a data plan on the voyager. most pda's don't require one either but the blackberrys do.

I still think the speakerphone will function the same as the env. The speakers themselves still work with the phone closed, the ringer uses the internal speakers. They choose to limit the speakerphone for other reasons

For clarification, Circuit City locations are direct VZW so will have the same realease dates as other stores. Prices will vary from stores occasionally but always in CC customers favor.

blackberry devices will not set up on vzw without a data plan. i won't pretend i know why, but they won't. after one is set up you can add the 1x block feature but most reps won't do it for you. this feature will also block your mms messaging in addition to email and web.

Venus release dates
Nov 6, 2007, 11:07 PM
in the LG Voyager VX-10000 forum

yes, i realize this forum is for the Voyager, but there is no Venus forum yet which is odd since it is scheduled to come out first. black Venus, nov 19th pink Venus, dec 11th No online or preorder dates were listed which I found odd. As far as I know the 21st of Nov still looks like the date for the Voyager but if we don't see confirmation by the end of this week I'll start to doubt.

in the LG Voyager VX-10000 forum

I know someone mentioned this below but I'm to lazy to find it. I found detailed launch notes for the Venus online today. "Multitask while playing music, hide player to send messages, browse the web, etc" I would assume if the Venus is capable that the Voyager will be as well. I can't understand why LG hasn't been making all their music phones like this. they've obviously got it to work on both chocolate phones.

Re: True Pre-Order
Nov 5, 2007, 5:20 AM
in the LG Voyager VX-10000 forum

If you order it once it becomes available for pre-order. It's not listed yet. If you see it on the Verizon website listed next to all the other phones with a price next to it, then you'll be up for pre-order. Basically just go to the /next website and sign up for the email list and you'll know as soon as it's out.

Some of the pre-release material did seem to imply that the calendar had synchronization options. This doesn't mean it's a full featured calendar but if it does at least sync with outlook i'd be happy.

True Pre-Order
Nov 4, 2007, 3:52 AM
in the LG Voyager VX-10000 forum

I don't know specifically about the Voyager yet, but VZW ofter does true pre-ordering. Meaning if you submit on your order online on the 8th it will ship out next business day. This is true right now of the BB 7130. It is available online but not in the store. This is usually only on PDA devices but done on dumbphones as well.

how about 65 a month, 900 minutes and 250 text or picture messages, free n/w, unl in. and you save a minimum of $24.70 a month? even with the extra 400 minutes and 150 messages you still pay back your $400 and save an about $200 over two years.

I quizzed one of our data reps the other day and she said this had come up at one of their meetings. Advance word is that you'll have a choice. A premium plan or mobile web plan will give you old school mobile web 2.0 but not full html. You would have the separate option of going for a full PDA style data plan. I guess it's cool that you at least have the choice. ...

Nov 1, 2007, 5:34 AM

I'm not so sure about this. Realize $2.99 a day is $89.70 a month, and then you're still gonna make me pay 2 cents per message? How many of us go a whole day without one call or one text message??? PrePay = F'd in the A just to contradict myself, i do like the new core plan. I think it will suit the true minimal users pretty well.

Re: Good for minimal use and texters, too bad for EZPay
Nov 1, 2007, 5:28 AM
in the Article: Verizon Wireless Revises Pay-As-You-Go Plans forum

Anyone using prepay to avoid a deact fee needs to check their math. Pay an extra $30 a month, pay $.10 for every text, and pay an extra $70 per phone just to avoid paying a $145 etf in 6 months? That sounds like a great idea. I understand that people don't like etf's but do the math. Almost every cust that makes their wireless decisions based on avoiding etf's screws themselves in longterm cost. The ...

One year pricing is now $70 more than 2 year. this changed about 2 weeks ago in preparation for these plan changes. Also keep in mind that the 6 month rule for prepay to postpay only applies to "phone-in-box" items, not any phone purchased for prepay. Basically if the box says "inpulse" all over it you still have the 6 months.

Re: Data Plan required?

PDA phones require a data feature to be activated. that could be unlimited data for $45, 10MB for $25, or the pay-as-you-go data service which is a free feature as described above. Blackberry's don't have a pay-as-you-go option by the way. Once the phone is activated the pay-as-you-go feature can be removed and a data block put in it's place. i know text can be used with the data block in place but i believe josiah was correct ...

no, you won't lose out on the $100 rebate. Verizon now accepts returns and exchanges after you submit for the rebate. We just credit you back what you paid for the phone minus the rebate amount if you don't have the upc.

It does have wifi. I was browsing the web with our store demo the other day. Verizon won't advertise it much because they want to sell the data package. Depending on what you're doing with it you may want to stay away from wifi for security issues.

Yeah, I'm a Verizon rep who's been wondering the same thing and haven't gotten solid answers yet. I'm still hoping $15 bucks is gonna cover you for this one. Without full outlook integration i think it's gonna be hard to bill this as a real smartphone.
