Re: Question for Alltel Agents
I work for Alltel now. I was employed by Verizon. (hence the name) When I worked for VZW in FL their corporate stores had to be at least 3 miles apart (with the exception of Circuit Cities and BJ's Clubs). Their authorized dealers had to be at least 1 mile apart.
With the merger they may relax these standards a bit. But I'm pretty confident that there will not be 2-3 VZW stores in the same mall. At best, you'll ...
Re: Anyone know?
It may not be directly after the merger closes. You may not be able to use Verizon phones/plans or vice versa for several months after the merger.
Re: Question for Alltel Agents
I would imagine that agents will have to reapply with Verizon.
Verizon is very picky about where they put their authorized dealers. They like to avoid saturation. So, if there is a VZW store, Circuit City, BJ's Wholesale Club and an agent or 2 already, it may be tough to be rebranded VZW.

aw dude! I just threw up in my mouth!
Re: when do ya think?
think about how many adds verizon would have if they started video calling. I'd say 20% of the people in the US are either deaf or hard of hearing. Both my parents are deaf, they would pay a ton for the phone and service. If Verizon got in on it early and positioned it as a way for the deaf population to communicate while away from home, they could add millions of adds and video calling features.
Re: Verizon is LAME
Tmo gots da german backin like volkswagen foo. About that backing, wasn't it the germans that were entertaining buyout options of their american assets?
Yep, they back Tmobile like I back Pres. Bush...not at all..
Re: Verizon is LAME
Before we learn ta read, you should learn ta write. Man am I glad you're a Tmobile employee!

Spoken like a true Tmobile rep, yo.
Re: T-Mob 4 Eva
I'm not going to quote the previous message to save everyone from reading it twice.
VZW has the most retail customers. a.k.a. more people have VZW brand than any other brand. Therefore, Cingular has millions of people who think they suck on multiple "networks".
Re: And it begins
I should take some meds and forget I'm working for the next 2.5 hours! I'd start talking about free elephants with activation...could loose my job (which I don't want to do yet) and may get punched in the face by a customer.
But hey! I'll have one hell of a story to tell!!

Well when you have lower numbers than your competition you tend to offer your product in more areas, like gas stations.
and I am jealous! I was hoping that VZW would have the vision to corner the gas station quickie marts sooner than Tmobile...think about it..it's a perfect marriage.
"fill 'er up and I'll take a loaf of bread, 2 packs of cigs, 12 pack of bud, a dozen "red" roses for the little lady at home and a $49.99 ...
Re: And it begins
3 out of 7 is 42% or less than half...you must really be stressing over BT headsets.
Then again, I'm lucky I can still do math. My store has been open since 4 a.m. because of the new Microsoft program...yep...guess who's working from 4am-9pm with no break and no chair...moi..
Re: T-Mob 4 Eva
c'mon now...let's give tmobile their props. They cover the major highways just as well as anyone else. Just because their service doesn't work off of Interstate XX doesn't mean they can't give their stuff away with a slightest escalation. AND lets not forget the most important part...Tmobile is the ONLY service you can BUY at a GAS STATION! Beat that Verizon, with your highest ARPU and your lowest churn!
Another indirect question
Ok, the AM for West Central Florida has informed me that VZW is only taking agents who will open multiple locations. He hasn't explained himself when I responded to him via email which was 2 weeks ago.
In your experiences, does VZW expect 2 locations from the beginning? Or do they give you time to open the subsequent locations?
Also, has anyone had difficulty reaching their AM? It seems like he doesn't want to take on more stores! We've explained our ...
Re: Here are the steps
If you don't mind answeing one more question, why did it take 4 months to get approved by VZW? I know it has to be reviewed by a handful of people, but shouldn't take 4 months..
Re: damn APPLE
My biggest complaint about Apples is that they make me gassy..
Re: SALES PITCH
Right, you have to adapt to the customer.
Re: lying for sales
Role playing has no point because there is no sales rep who uses their real pitch during the role play.
Re: damn APPLE
Seriously, I have issues...
Re: damn APPLE
Before reading your comment I thought that you had a problem with the fruit.
Seriously...HAHAHAHA
Re: lying for sales
That irks me too, but I let them know that Consumer Reports doesn't know who I am and how much I do for my customers. Then I'll go into a lecture about how the internet is killing the consumer experience and we're all becoming antisocial because we don't need to leave the house for anything anymore, except to get questions answered about cell phone service...
Re: lying for sales
Me too! I hate, and I mean HATE role playing for that reason!!
Re: lying for sales
I'll only pull out the waived act fee thing if I need to. Usually the idea of going it alone when purchasing online is enough to convince them to purchase with me. Especially when you give the impression of they won't be able to get help after the sale. Which, of course isn't the case, because I'll help anyone.
I've helped people with other services before! Just because I know eventually they'll be out of contract and eventually they'll ...
Re: lying for sales
I wouldn't interrupt another salesperson (didn't mean to give that impression) I would correct them after the sale however...

They can also say that the website offers phones which are discontinued in the store, and that if anything goes wrong with the set-up as far as plans or features they're liable for the charges because they're setting it up on their own instead of letting us do it properly.
That's a good one!
Re: lying for sales
Why do you have to lie? If someone mentions buying from a website to me, I'll tell them something like "well you could go and buy from "website x" but when you have a problem where are you going to go? Who's going to answer your question? If you buy from me, I'll still be here after the sale to help you learn your new phone." I might even waive an activation fee if that's what it takes...
Re: Best Situation EVER!!!
Well that's your fault too!
Re: Here are the steps
Thanks! I may need some help along the way, so I'm sure we'll be talking again!
Re: Best Situation EVER!!!
I'd tell her that once the rebate form leaves the store than it's up to her to take care of it. Sorry, we're not a rebate form factory!!
If she were a nice lady about it she'd have her rebate form in a jiffy! But, demands don't get results!
Re: Here are the steps
I know it's not going to be an overnight success, but with my partner and I already in the business and selling Verizon Wireless service locally, we have about 3 years of customers we can rely on.
Re: I wanna be an authorized dealer...
I understood what they meant...but how can they expect you to write a meaningful plan with zero or very little information? I can blow smoke up his butt and write a knockout plan, but if I have the numbers all wrong than who cares?
Re: Here are the steps
I've got a company already, I have most of the funding, I'm working on the business plan. I've already sent for the tax id. I've got 3-4 locations lined up and I'm looking into the insurance.
Why would you not collect a check for 6 months?
I know it takes 2-3 months before you see a comission from vzw, but you should still be selling accessories and whatnot to generate some kind of revenue.
Re: I wanna be an authorized dealer...
Well that's better than these websites online. Do you purchase phones directly through VZW?
I wanna be an authorized dealer...
For those shop owners out there; I'm looking into starting up my own authorized dealer. I went onto vzw.com and filled out the form and the response I got was "Send me your plan and I'll send you some information.", which is obviously not helpful. I'm currently a retail employee and I have some information from people I know in my area. (i.e. commission structure, insurance needs, advertising guidlines)
However, I'm having trouble finding out whether VZW has phones available ...
Re: Oh, by the way... hate away... because...
Way to be proud of the fact that you put your pole in dingy holes. I'm glad your successful, but there's better ways to represent yourself.
Re: Oh, by the way... hate away... because...
damn, it's too bad phonescoop doesn't have a year book. I'm sure you'd have the "Most Likely To Obtain A Venerial Disease" award all wrapped up...Or maybe "Most Likely To Die Alone".
Re: Back ordered Chocolates
They're delicious...
Re: Don't You Just Hate it When.....
how about when you're in the middle of your sales pitch when they have a call they "Have to take" and run outside. After their call that apparently saved civilization as we know it, they have the audacity to be mad when you help another customer!
Or when they walk away from you while you're mid-sentence. That one boils me up too!
Re: *** Message to Verizon Wireless CEO, Denny Strigl ***
In my experience, some Cingy customers are P.O.'ed when they are told that their minutes roll over, but they're taken back after a year. Whether they roll over on a monthly basis or not. Cingular is holding a cookie in front of a consumer and taking it away. What some Cingy reps do is praise roll over minutes, talk some schmoe into going for a $59.99 plan when they truly need to be on a $39.99 plan and pocket ...
Re: *** Message to Verizon Wireless CEO, Denny Strigl ***
I love talking to the cingy customers that had rollover for a year and lost all those minutes they worked so hard to save.
If you're banking 100+ minutes a month you're overpaying for your service.
