Hello, I was browsing around SE website and found this file "Update_Service_Setup-2.6.11.7" for updating the w810i. Has anyone done this update? Does anyone know what would happen to the phone once this update is performed? Thanks.

Hi, I just got a refurb go phone SLVR L7 for my spouse and I am using her other cingular sim card instead of the go phone one. The phone worked for maybe a day, but kept freezing.. and now it won't even stay on for more than a minute. Its fully charged, i turn it on, and then a minute later its off - and it won't turn back on using the power button. I'll have to take the ...

Yea. To each its own. I did a lot of research into it and having OTA update and flash themes was enough for me to think about debranding. I haven't done it yet, but i think i eventually will one day when i am bored through wotansever.com. If debranding included unlocking, i would have done it by now :)

When you debrand your phone with wotonserver or davinci, it won't unlock your phone. Debranding will get rid of all the cingular crap in your phone, it'll make it like it was just born in a sonyericsson factory. You will lose the medianet stuff, and buying of ringtones, etc. You gain: - mp3 as ringtones, no time limit. - Updates OTA - Ability to run flash based themes - customize the mediaNet shortcut key to anything u want. - disable camera sounds - ASR. If I do it it'll be to get the following (in the order of priority) - OTA updates - flash based themes - shutter sound - full mp3 ringtone Cheers!

I personally don't know any 1 who has debranded. I am thinking of wotanserver also, because their instructions seemed easier to understand than davinci and they had screenshots also, plus its like 4$ cheaper (not that it matters). When are you planning on doing it?

Luckily in w810, u can backup your address book to memory card :) i tested it and it works. - Address book - Options - Advanced - Backup to MS I think another limitation that Cingular phone has is the flash disable so i can't get the horizontal scrolling on equalizer theme. maybe some 1 can confirm/deny. I found out that debranding erases your phonebook and sms, there i a possibility that it won't erase your pictures, but I wouldn't risk it.

Also, you can get an oem housing in black/white/silver/etc on ebay for 17$ shipped if you completely want 2 get rid of cingular logo. :)

There are a number of things u can do if u flash over to original SE. I am mostly interested in: - Disabling camera sounds. - OTA updates. - MP3 as ringtone limitation. - Themes limitation. cheers!

No I mean debranding, as in reflashing the phone to remove cingular branding and getting it back to as the manufacturer intended. In my case SE for a w810i.

No I was specifically refferring to debranding - so flashing the firmware to remove cingular stuff. Explicitly for a W810i. Thanks.

Can I use this phone as a usb device to store files on the memory card? Also, do i have to use the sony cable? Or could I transfer files via irda or bluetooth? I doubt it has USB.. thanks.

That what I was looking for, couldn't find it myself :( so i was hoping someone could point me in the right direction. I don't mind buying the cable, i just need to know how to do it, where to get the firmware and all that jaaz. Also navigated for a while on sony ericsson's website, i thought i found it a long time ago, but couldn't get to it when i just tried it yesterday.

Sup all, One of my family members got this phone and they were asking me for help on this - could you guys advise me please. He has a USB cable (i think comes with phone) - I have told him site to d/l ring tones. Now he has the ringtone on his pc, is there a software suite or driver or any other interface he can use to just dump the file onto his phone? he dosen't have ...
