Re: Cingular or T-Mobile?
I'm with you - it does have a cheap feel to it. However, I used and abused the EDGE today, and man can it smoke. Also, the 128 x 160 screen is nice...very nice.
What's weird is that they changed the charger port, so you either have to get the new charger or this goofy little adapter that's very easy to lose.
Look for this device late Summer.
Re: Does anyone know who and when!!
Cingular should launch this phone sometime late July / early August. Not sure about T-mobile or any other carriers.
Keep your eyes open - this device is sweet!
Re: Cingular or T-Mobile?
It's looking like Cingular will get the black one. However, I'm not too excited - the device feels really light and cheap, and that can be dangerous for a clamshell. But we just got this thing to play with, so we'll have to see what it can do.
Re: At the risk of offending sharkzfan..
Sigh. It's all speculation and it's all subjective. So much goes into the qualification and release of a new device, and with things like Bluetooth and mobile content becoming mainstreamed, the process is taking even longer as more and more devices are supporting these features.
Often times, actual release dates are determined at the last minute. General time frames are given, but specificities tend to be inaccurate until the final hour.
You'll know when the new phone is ...
Re: FUGLY......kinda
Funny...you must be one of the few with a C1300 who haven't had it fall to h*ll and back. I had to send mine (thankfully I don't use it often) to get reflashed just last week.
In fact, if you check the Cingular site, they're pushing free C1300 refurbs, which tells me I'm not the only one who's had to send this technological lob cabin back for reconditioning.
Thankfully, there are rumors of three new LG devices (including a PTT), ...
Re: Will Cingular carry this phone?
It's not important how, but we've got this device in house now too. Man is it sexy.....
Re: V-635 is a NO GO for Cingular!!!!
I = If I were you, or anyone else. I have one and I love it. I bought it unbranded from tigerdirect.com, using a Cingular SIM in it now. Also have the Nokia 6620, but can't seem to put the Moto down.
Re: is there a way
Theoretically this is true...but I wouldn't trust the Bluetooth on the QD with an earpiece, let alone multiple file transfers.
It's not even a Nokia thing - the 3650, 6620, 7610 all have solid Bluetooth capability, but the QD falls flat. Also a shame since the GPRS is spotty too.
Re: IR Port?
No IrDA on the QD, only spotty and inconsistent Bluetooth. Neat idea though....
Re: ??? MMC Card size ???
Read the info page. 256 MB. Read the info page.
Re: V-635 is a NO GO for Cingular!!!!
Not sure about T-Mobile getting it, but if ANY carrier picks it up, this is quite the sexy device.
Basically, it's all the V600 should have been. The camera is nice (8x zoom!), the Bluetooth works well, the EDGE is smoking hot, and when it's not, the GPRS is a nice default.
After the V600, I was skeptical, but this unit is awesome. As far as I know, anyone who has a Cingular SIM can use one on their ...
LG F7200
LG F7200 to show up in mid-June....another slider. Hopefully improved on the F9100.
Not sure about specifics as we just got our proto version the other day. Not terribly optimistic; LG tends to make phones I would like to use as projectiles or ornaments or something...
More info as I get it.
Re: Durability and Camera Questions
Also worth noting that the P777 isn't all that spectacular either...
Re: V-635 is a NO GO for Cingular!!!!
Yep. This is true. We got word earlier this week that Cingular is dropping the V635. Kinda sucks...it's a sexy little device, and makes up for the V600 debacle.
Re: DOA?
From what I've Cingular is still planning to roll out this phone sometime in the near future, although I can't imagine why anyone would want it.
In typical LG fashion, the firmware is limited and awkward, and the complicated nature of it makes using the device for anything other than a phone fairly cumbersome.
Furthermore, the IrDA port is receive-only.
Anyway, I'd never get an LG, so it's not my concern, but apparently some folks like 'em.
