If wifi is turned on and you are connected, the phone should defer to wifi. I use very little data at home. To force wifi only you can place the phone in airplane mode which will turn off the phone radios. You would then need to reactivate wifi.

The nonexistent voice dial works very well. I have opened apps with it, searched the contact list to bring up a specific contact, and used it to call a specific person. All functions worked very well.

I'm puzzled by the reviews and published specs for the Palm Centro. All of them that I have seen show that voice dialing is not available on the Centro. However, I do have a voice dialing app that came installed on my Verizon Centro. I don't know if it makes a difference but I do have the latest firmware (Centro 1.03-VZW) installed. I haven't given the voice dial a comprehensive test yet, however the things I haved ...

I activated the call timer to see if I could duplicate the issue. No ticking at all, just the call.
