Wildyorkie: First, non-smartphones do feature WiFi. Example: http://phonescoop.com/phones/phone.php?p=1806
Second, without WiFi or a GSM or WCDMA chip, this phone won't work in Europe and most of the rest of the world. For those of us who travel internationally, that's really important.
Otherwise, this is a nice phone for stay in the U.S. types.

Re: No WiFi No Buy!
Regardless of whether Verizon or LG decided that the Versa would not be WiFi enabled, the bottom line is that this phone will not work either for Web browsing purposes or voice communications with Skype or similar VOIP applications anywhere in continental Europe or most other locations internationally.

This is a CDMA-only phone. Consequently, you'll need the "Internet" to make a voice call with Skype using WiFi when you are in place which does not have CDMA service. Most of the world outside of the US does not provide CDMA service.

The failure to include WiFi connectivity cripples this CDMA phone's potential for people who need to be able to use it with Skype in most overseas destinations. &*)_!!!
Verizon: "No release date yet"
Verizon may be selling the 700P on their Website (anyone receive a delivery?), but according to Verizon's information at 6-1-1, there is no release date as to when the 700P will appear in stores in New York City. Does anyone have information which confirms or denies this?
Re: What this phone needs is wireless broadband
OK. My bad. It does have EV DO wireless broadband for use on CDMA networks. But it doesn't have wireless broadband for use on GSM networks. It just has GPRS, which is slow. In fact, it is slower than EDGE, which is a lot slower for data than EV DO.
What this phone needs is wireless broadband
Aside from the i830's lack of a camera and its use of a superseded Windows operating system, this phone urgently needs wireless 3G capability in EVDO and UMTS and or EDGE flavors in order to make it competitive. Until then, I will wait for the next version.
Treo 650 vs. iPod Nano for music playing
I am thinking about getting a iPod Nano for a geriatric patient in a nursing home. This person likes to listen to music, and uses an early model Palm only as an electronic addressbook and calendar. This person is also able to use a desktop computer for simple tasks, such as sending e-mail. However, they are easily frustrated by anything but the simplest task on their computer. This person is also considering getting a Palm ...

Why isn't Windows Mobile 5.0 on this phone?
I am perplexed why the i830 is NOT being released with Windows Mobile 5.0. Is there a reasonable explanation? Can a user install 5.0?
