perhaps they are cheap to you but i will disagree. i had an 8100 that lasted about three years before i upgraded and that thing would take abuse like a champ, it even survived my daughter "placing" it in a full glass of water while powered on. and thus far my 5600 has put up with multiple drops and much abuse, i believe sanyo makes some of the sturdiest phones out there.

the 7400 is definitely more rugged as it is rubberized in several places.

the 5600 already supports AAC/MP4/M4A ringers which are smaller than MP3's and sound the same, so why would you want it to have support for a file format that you could fit less of on your phone????

you should be able to pick one up at lowes or home depot, though i would be careful while messing around inside there.

you can train it for 30 voice dails. that feature is built into the phone so therefore it is free. or you could get 7400 for a little more if you can find one and it has speaker independant voice dialing so you don't have to train it.

Re: How do you transfer pics from the MiniSD to "saved to phone?"

in the Sanyo MM-5600 forum

just use the focus uploader at http://www.sprintusers.com/focus it is easier than the way you are doing it and anything you set from the mini SD is saved to the phone so you are not saving memory by setting things saved on the mini SD card

Re: I know how to convert to mp4, BUT how do you upload to the phone w/o internet??

you can not set an audio file as a ringer unless you use a tool such as the focus uploader. oh and incoming text messages are not counted against you, at least not to my knowledge. and as far as downloading the file, if you do not have vision i believe you pay $.01 per Kb that you upload/download so if you only do like a few ringers/month it would be cheaper than actually having vision. ...

FYI if you search the forum i'm sure there is at least one thread detailing this topic, next time try using the search feature so you don't get flamed by less forgiving people.

when you plug the phone into your computer have it open and when the menu comes up choose mass storage. before doing this go to tools/extras then mini SD, once in there go to mini SD setting and choose format. once it is formatted repeat the above steps and instead of format choose make folders. the format step may be optional but if you haven't saved anything to it then i would do it anyway. *****CAUTION the ...

yeah and the 7400 is also the second from the top phone sanyo offers. not to mention that the 7400 costs quite a bit more, last i checked the 7400 was still hovering around $400. the 8300 is sanyo's mid range phone so expect it to have mid range features. that said $300 for everything that this offers is pretty good, if you want the features of a 7400 then pay the extra $100, or better ...

sanyo was forced to change the way their phones displayed signal strength. their phones do get better reception then all the rest of them out there, its just that now they have to fall in line with everyone else when displaying signal strength. if your dads phone was on the new system he would register two bars as well its just that two bars on a sanyo will be stronger than two bars on say a samsung, ...
