I love these customers. It's raining like frakin crazy here today, and I know I'll have a couple custies wander in with liquid damaged phones, but swear the phone never got wet... despite the fact the phone wasnt protected from the rain in the slightest way while they clip-clopped across the parking lot.

Today is my last day as a manager for an AT&T agent! I love my bosses and my job, but I've got a way better opportunity going over to AT&T Corporate side, so I start training Monday in Raleigh NC. Woop! Wish me luck everyone! :)

LOL No judgements here. I have a funny story about that, not really shop talk material though, so to make it short, let's just say after my mom passed a year and a half ago or so, my dad got remarried to one of her cousins from Germany. So she's my 2nd cousin, and now my stepmom, and thus was born the new family term: Step-mousin. Feel free to use it, should the need ever arise.

You must be my long lost sister. Either that, or my soul mate. Come to think of it, I live in South Carolina now, so there's really no societal restriction against you being both.

Sadly you are probably right. I actually do like kids, just not babies. From 5-8 I can start to tolerate them, then from 8 and up I can relate to them pretty good. Babies.. no thanks.

Thanks! I know it'll be different, but I can follow rules and regs as well as, if not better than, the next guy. But I'm gonna make about 50% more than what I've been making, so it's really too good a deal to pass up.

My store instituted this same type of policy more than 6 months ago. During that time, our numbers stayed relatively level (despite the economic hard times) and our churn and chargebacks have dropped significantly. The key to making it work is presentation. Make the 6 month requirements clear to the customer before you close the sale. If you throw it on them at the end, after everything else is done, they are more likely to balk. ...

So I just got hired yesterday by AT&T to work at a COR store. I'll be making the jump from being an indirect sales manager to being a corporate sales associate (yep, more money). Wish me luck, everybody! :)

Here at my store, when a customer leaves a phone for us when doing an upgrade, we often use those phones as loaners. Well yesterday I activated a line for a customer and I didnt have the phone they wanted, so I grabbed a loaner phone. I was unaware the phone hadnt been "cleaned" yet. I put the SIM card in, turned it on, and turned away to finish paperwork. When I was done, I ...

Putting insurance on a broken phone is fraud

Which is the scenario the original poster described. I'm sure he has the ability to add insurance to a working phone within whatever policies and procedures his particular company allows. But putting insurance on an already damaged phone is fraud, no matter who you work for.

Reminds me of a story that happened at another store owned by one of my previous employers. The store is in Greenville, SC, and on a heavily travelled road. Apparently some lady fell asleep at the wheel due to meds she was on, and drove her car right through the front of the store! Took out the front door, and one entire front panel window. Pretty much destroyed the car as well. Fortunately, no ...

Although I'd like to rip on you for setting future reps up for problem calls with this customer, I have to give you props for your honesty. I wonder if you'd have done the same thing if you knew that customer would be able to reach you each and every time he called in.

I think alot of people who have never worked in this industry have no concept of what is required of us. Maybe you could talk the situation over with your boss, see if you can bring your spouse to work with you on one of her days off so she can see what you have to deal with on a daily basis. Alternatively, you could start nailing one of your hot co-workers as a hedge against the day your ...

I've had similar conversations with the customer asking me something like the "right now" question. My response is usually a big smile and I say "Whenever you're ready." Then I just sit there and smile at them. I'm not sure who's weirder in that situation, the customer, or me.

If I were you, I would file assault charges on the customer for slamming the phone on your finger, sue him for your physical injuries and mental trauma, and file a worker's compensation claim for a workplace injury. You might even be able to sue your employer for creating a dangerous work environment. Heck, who knows, you might be the next owner of Rhi_Nan Wireless!

Having worked in a call center, and currently working in a store, I can tell you that I have seen and heard reps in both situations just plain make sh!t up. Why? Cause they don't know the answer to a question, and they are afraid to admit they don't know. They don't care that they might be screwing the customer, they just don't want to look like an idiot. People like this nauseate me, and ...

Yeah the best part about that would have been the note would have to be hand-written, since you couldnt print it on the computers. But yeah, I told him pretty much the same thing, but he was afraid of losing his job. Needless to say, neither of us work for that company anymore.

I got a good one for ya. Couple years ago a buddy of mine was managing a store and the bosses forgot to pay the power bill. So he shows up for work, no electricity, nothing works. It's a Saturday, he calls the boss, asks can he go home since the power wont be turned back on until Monday when they can go down to the office and pay the bill. Boss says no, stay ...

One thing I would say is that if you have the ability to report agents or cor reps who are doing these things you definitely should. I know you dont want to take food out of anyone's mouth, and that's admirable, but as an AT&T employee, it's sort of your job to help weed out the bad employees. As an agent, whenever I get treated rudely by a customer service rep, or run across one who doesnt ...

I actually did this once a couple years ago, but it was only a couple miles away from where I worked, and gas was alot cheaper then. Plus, it was going to be a 3 line family plan with some features too. I took my phone out to the guy's house, showed him my Cingular coverage where he lived, let him make a couple calls, and they came back to the store with me and I got ...

At my store, we want to own our customers. In other words, when they think of wireless, we want them to think of us first. That's for sales or service issues. Why service? Because when we provide them with superior customer service, they will tell their friends and family about us. Word of mouth is powerful advertising. The simple truth of being a sales rep is that the best sales people in the ...
