It's baffling to me how often a place that's "supposed" to be a forum to discuss wireless technology so often turns into a bashing party. While I'm not particularly fond of the way he choose to express himself in this particular arena... why do we, as members of this forum relentlessly taunt him and continue to distract ourselves from the intended purpose? We are all adults and while I'm sure this reply will not make a huge impact ...

I can easily see both sides of this argument/discussion...but the bottom line is you can't make everybody happy all of the time, something or someone will have to be sacrificed at some point on some day....even if they doubled the staff. After reading the other posts I wanted to add that I have been in an Alltel store and had to wait for a really long time to be helped simply because half the world was in the store that day...so if I had to wait in the store, with them working as quickly and as efficiently as possible...I'd imagine no one would be available to answer the phone when it's crazy like that. ...Just something to keep in ...

You have every right to be upset about them not answering the phone, but...considering that it's that close to you and they're not answering..why wouldn't you just go down there to ask your question and to complain to the manager about the phone situation? Sorry, I can't offer you any assistance...I have an Alltel version and don't have that problem. If you can't find anyone here that knows, try going over to Howardforums.com and look or post in the US Cellular forum..I'm sure s/o over there can help you...if you don't get an answer here. No I don't believe that you are wrong...it appears to be no OBEX in the states, outside of the ones Moto let slip out. But in my opinion, the Tflash is a good work around and if you have the Alltel or USC version, or have flashed your Verizon version, you can get BT via MPT. OBEX would be nice, but it's not going to happen with this phone, so you gotta decide what's really important and ...

If you get the right one it will, I can't tell you which one that is, but before you buy it just read the package and make sure. I've seen them on eBay, and a few other sites, that explicitly say that it will charge as you use it...but like I said, not all of them will, so be sure to read or ask first.

Thanks ccanady, I appreciate that. I don't really think I need to stream video, but faster web surfing would be cool, but hey...you never know if the phones are sweeter than the v710, I may change my mind. But I love my v710 soooo much... :D

I'm with ccanady, if money is not an issue, I'd say the v710. I have it and I LOVE it. The screen is large and bright. I loaded my transflash card up with mp3s and use the mp3player when i work out. I've created my own ringtones...the features ROCK...I'll just stop there. The reception is FANTASTIC. While I loved my old v60i, I dropped calls in my office....have yet to drop one since ...

I agree ccanaday, I came by a few times, but no happenings so I kept on going...lol. I'll try to frequent more often and see if our community grows. Someone made a note earlier over on v710.org that we need a space to discuss our version since all of these verizon problems aren't really applicable to us. If you'd like, stop by v710.org as well as Hofo.

When you log into Howardforums.com, stroll all the way down to Verizon. After the page opens they'll be two options at the top..one for Verizon Wireless FAQ and one for Temporary V710 Discussion...the latter is what you wanna click. As some have stated, Verizon's version seems to have quite a few problems with it, but Alltel users (...that's me!!!) and USC customers don't have these problems with theirs. Besides, we both know that that Motorola tech is incorrect, as many Verizon v710 customers have flashed their phones with Alltel firmware. If ours were just as messed up that act would be pointless. From reading the USC forum on Hofo, it doesn't appear that their version has OBEX...if they did they'd be screaming it from the mountain tops and everybody would jump ship for USC.

Well, from reading Hofo, Phonescoop and v70.org, I know first hand that my Alltel v710 is in no way as limited as Verizon's version and there are a few things that it appears our version will do that USC's will not. Since you're new to this phone, if you haven't already...go to Howardforums.com and do a search on the Alltel forum for the v710 and go to the Verizon forum, there's a forum dedicated to the v710...I've learned so much about this phone in those two places, as well as v710.org. Happy searching...hope you find these places to be as helpful as I have.

LOL....No, you're not crazy...I had this same concern and thought that something was wrong with my phone. That is until I had it broken down for me in "Camera phones for dummies" terminology. Here ya go...

From what I've read, and experienced personally, if I were you, I'd buy a v710 either from Alltel or USC. BT works via MPT, and I haven't experienced any of the problems that my Verizon cohorts have. Although, my guess would be that Motorola's intent was for this phone to function as all their other BT phones..not limited to TFlash for transferring of info. Though I don't mind so much, it certainly is a plus to ...

It's all in what you're looking for. I personally LOVE my v710 (I have an Alltel version). OBEX would be awesome, but the TFlash card is a good work around. Outside of that I've had absolutely no problems with my phone. I've transferred my MP3s and I listen to them as I work out. I've transferred pics of my daughter back and forth as my wallpapers and sent the pics I took of her Kindergarten ...

Over on Hofo, some report that at the three highest levels it becomes distorted and that people can tell that they're on it when talking. I haven't experienced either. The volume on it is great, I've never experienced any interference and no one has ever reported any difficulty hearing me. The talk time is awesome. The boom is really cool, when you close it, it's off...not draining your battery. I can go a week w/o ...

Cheap...I'm afraid no where for a while. But then again...what do you consider cheap?
If you decide to buy it vs. waiting, it'll be worth the money. Some people have complained about it, but I ordered mine from a guy on eBay and I haven't had any problems at all with mine and the talk time is awesome.
