Speaker quality is very good. Much better than the Pebl or the Razr. It even has two little gromits positioned so that when you put the phone down there is a little space so the sound is not muffled. It is loud and clear and not distorted at at.

The earpiece volume has been fixed. The menus, however, are ver slow. I would say maybe a bit slower than the 6101. The rubberized exterior would seem to protect it more than the 6101 so breakage would be less of an issue. I have dropped mine and it works just fine.

There are sufficient warning on this, both in the box and in the instructions. The PEBL's shape and smoothness, its ease of operation and battery life and RF far outweigh this. Besides, aren't magnets supposed to provide some healing properties? (As in those magnetic bracelets)
Analog Clock
Has anyone noticed that when using the analog clock on the outside display it is not entirely accurate. It seems to move at two minute intervals.
Is there any fix for this other than using the digital function?

Pictures as Background on Nokia
I notice that when I try to use a photo that has been sent in an MMS message (T-Mobile) that when I use it as a Background it does not use the full screen. I have tried to vary the size of the picture in the email but it doesn't seem to make any difference. Does anyone know the answer? (Maybe this just does it on pictures received iva MMS messages?)

The slowness on opening is unique to Nokia to allow you time to refuse the call and send immediately to voicemail by pushing the hangup button.
I find that the 6101 does a slower operating system than most Nokias. It does take about a second to get into the menu screen, for instance.
I konw Motorolas have take large hits by people onthese forums but I find, by comparison, my V330 menu's work quicker than the Nokia 6101.

August 15 seems to be the consensus on the howardforum although there is not evidence to back that up. Cingular is releasing their 6102 on that date so it would be logical!
Nokia 6101 Shipped?
I was told by the local T-Mobile store manager that the Nokia 6101 had shipped from the warehouse....yet there is nothing official? Can anybody shed some light?

The manager of our local T-Mobile corporate store told me today that T-Mobile is "rushing" to get this phone out this week. It will be in stores next week and on the webpage.

I would suggest any of the Motorolas. The reception is great on them. The earpiece volume is the best as is the speakerphone, which you can connect before the calls goes through. Many people in this forum put down the Motorolas becuase of their oeprating system, but it is a lot more useful than the Samsung!

I returned my E335 becuase the reception was so poor. At home, where my Motorola V188 has almost a full signal, I only maybe got 1 bar on the samsung and it was hit and miss on receiving calls or them going to voicemail becuase of lack of reception.
The speakerphone, being the first on a samsung phone, was not up to Nokia or motorola standards: it was tinny and not loud at all. Finally, the handset volume, when in ...

If you compare Moto phones overall to Nokia phones (on phonescoop for instance) there is not appreciable difference. In fact, most Nokia phones have much longer standby times.

Is the battery charging time for the Razr the same as all Moto phones (i.e. LONG....2+ hours). Does anybody know why Motorola phones take so long to charge when Nokias will charge in a little over an hour?

How will this inflexible system handle phones that have been returned? At the moment, it is a manual search that has to be done through the record to confirm a phone was returned. Then a superviser has to approve the subsequent upgrade. Will the new process automatically take into account returned phones within the 30 day period (California).

Does anybody know (if so can you tell) the release day of the Nokia 6101? My contract is up and wondered whether it was worth waiting for this phone over the Samsung E335.

I sent mine back becuase, depending on where you phone comes from, they are incompatible with T-Mobile's new voicemail notification system (we have it here in Calif.) The problem is well outlined in Howard Forums: France, Germany & Spain do not have the same kind of voicemail system so the phone software, eventhough it is OEM, will not work unless the phone is flashed with different software.

I had to send mine back. Most of these places have a 15% restocking fee! Be careful. You might want to try getting it from www.puremobile in Canada since Rogers Wireless up there has it.

I am talking about T-Mobile new voicemail system not the old one which just sends a text message. The phone should display a special icon an data message from which you can directly access your voicemail. Are we still all talking about the same thing? My phone was from either Germany or Spain where they do not have this enhanced system which TMO is rolling out all over the U.S.

Do you have the new T-Mobile voicemail in your area (you don't get a text message anymore but a data message from which you can directly access your voicemail)? We have it here in California and it is this which does not work with V635's designed for Germany or Spain becuase they don't have this kind of voicemail.

Has anyone bought an unlocked V635 and used it on T-Mobile USA? I had to return mine because it would not receive the voicemail notification alert. I was told that it was becuase it was from Europe...but shouldn't an unlocked phone receive the upgraded voicemail notification?
