By the way, if anyone can explain how to get MP3s on the phone as ringtones using the memory card INSTEAD of emailing them to yourself, please let me know. Thanks.

I have gotten MP3s to work as ringtones. Here's how I do it: 1. Create your MP3 ringtone (try to keep it under 30 seconds and under 300KB). 2. Send an email to (your mobile number)@vzwpix.com with the MP3 attached. (ex. 1234567890@vzwpix.com). I've had good success sending from AOL's webmail or Outlook Express. Eudora did not work. 3. You should receieve a pix message with the MP3 attached. Press Options and choose the Save As Ringtone option. 4. ...

ok, you're right. i have successfully sent myself mp3s and saved them as ringtones. so far it seems like they need to be 64 bit, can anyone confirm that? Now for the real test - is there a way to transfer them over using the memory card as opposed to emailing them to myself? Thanks again.

MP3 as Ringtone?

There is a lot of conflicting info out there, but the simple question is...can you use MP3s as ringtones? I've tried the one suggestion in this forum, saving as MP3, opening in Windows Media Player and saving as .midi but that did not work. Unless I'm doing something wrong? Seems like a no-brainer, a phone that can play MP3s should be able to use them as ringtones. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Can anyone tell me or direct me to where I can find the specific technical specifications on what files the SCH-U540 can handle? Image dimensions, MP3 bitrates, sound formats, etc. So far using only a microSD card I have only gotten WMA audio files to play, not MP3. And speaking of MP3, I have read some conflicting info regarding whether the phone can use MP3s as ringtones. Can anyone tell me if this is possible, and if ...

I'm talking about sending my own MIDI files (through funformobile.com) or even through PIX Place. At first they sounded just fine, but now everything is VERY distorted. Completely unusable. ??

Ringer Sound Quality Is Poor

Several months ago I had no problem transferring MIDI files to my phone and using them as ring tones. Just recently I tried another batch but the results were very disappointing. No matter what, all the MIDI files were extremely loud and distorted when played by the phone. Has anyone else experienced this? Is there a way to fix it? I use funformobile.com to send the files to my phone. Any help would ...

After some more experimentation I've found using WAVs isn't so hot after all. They have to be crunched down so far to get under 102K (6000 sample rate, mono, 8 bit) that the loss of fidelity is substantial. And no matter how much EQing and hiss removal I do to my WAVs they always sound too loud and distorted once they play through the phone. If anybody has suggestions on that aspect, I'd love to hear them. In the ...

Hey folks. Looks like I solved my own problem, but I thought this info might be useful to others. Below is an email I got from Verizon. Basically, any sounds you want to send to the SCH-a670 from the Verizon PIX Place website need to be in WAV format, no bigger than 103K. Personally, I find this much more useful than MIDI files anyway. Enjoy... PC TO PIX PLACE To upload pictures or audio files stored on ...

Cannot Download Ringtones

I admit to being fairly new at this, but so far I have had NO luck getting my own ringtones to my Samsung sch-a670. I've tried storing them on my on WAP server, I get the 406 Not acceptable error. I've tried eringers.com, tried going directly to the site to download a tone, get the same error. I've also followed the excellent step-by-step instructions on the eringers site, saved the tone to my PC desktop, but when I ...
