I once had a reseller tell me "bluetoog" technology was what talked to the towers from my cell phone to keep me from dropping calls. When did the iPhone come with CDMA rather GSM? Does MetroPCS use any phones that are GSM rather than CDMA? I would suggest reading up a bit on www.metropcs.com, CDMA, GSM, iphone etc.

I was in Orlando on Tuesday. My Nokia 6265i searched and found the MetroPCS SID 5109. Worked fine all day at Orlando Executive airport and the National Business Aircraft Association convention at the Orange County Convention center. If you like drive over to Vero Beach and buy a MetroPCS phone with a Vero Beach phone number (772 area code), then when service starts in Lakeland/Orlando/Deltona, get the phone number changed to a 407 area code.

It amazes me someone writing on eBay for their item saying "an unlocked GSM phone will work on MetroPCS's CDMA network". I think you misread the information on the bidded item, or the seller is totally out-to-lunch when knowing his product. Perhaps his desire of getting it out the door overrides his sense of truthfulness. Back to your question. No, no, and no. All MetroPCS branded phones (those with ESNs assigned to MetroPCS) can be activated with MetroPCS service. But ...

I'd be very confident with 4th quarter 2006. Note how on 21 April 2006 www.metropcs.com was looking for area managers. When you see positions available for retail sales associates in the Orlando area, then it is about 2 months away.

What did you misunderstand on my post? TravelTalk allows you to use outgoing/incoming calls on your MetroPCS phone provided you have funds on your MetroConnect account. Rate is $0.49/minute except for some areas near current MetroPCS markets, where the rate is $0.79/minute. Majority of the roaming service is provided with agreements with Verizon Wireless. If you are in any MetroPCS market (San Francisco, Sacremento, Atlanta, Tampa, Miami, Dallas, Detroit) your phone will work without any roaming or roaming charges. Update your ...

Yesterday morning I called MetroPCS customer service and added "Travel Talk" to the account. Used it this evening here in Houston with an incoming call. I had to press "1" before connecting and to acknowlege the $0.49/minute roaming rate. Quite pleased. If I get anywhere close to Dallas/Fort Worth area tomorrow or Friday I'll try the new MetroPCS market there.

When did MetroPCS get licenses for the Las Vegas market from the FCC auctions? MetroPCS has unused licenses for operation in Los Angeles market, Detroit market, Lakeland/Orlando Florida market, Daytona Florida market. Detroit is the next unused market to become operational in April 2006. I don't recall reading that Las Vegas market was ever being bidded out, nor had MetroPCS purchased it from another entity.

SprintBGN: Last note I got from Mike Ward (Vice-President of Central Florida market) on 17 January 2006 was that the Lakeland/Orlando market would be in operation by late this year. East Central coast to follow. The best indicator of when MetroPCS is about to start operation is when they post on their www.metropcs.com web site openings for sales associates for the retail stores. Right now they are posting openings for RF engineers, so the construction of cell sites is still underway. I'd ...

MetroPCS roaming option with "traveltalk"

I was at Jackson (JAN), MS on Sunday when my MetroPCS Nokia 6255i announced I had new voice mail. I thought that was very strange so I called my voice mail number and it connected. This morning I called up MetroPCS customer service and asked about that. Customer service explained that if I have the current preferred roaming list (PRL) that the phone would roam with Verizon Wireless SIDs when encountered. Billing is $0.50/minute and is deducted out of your ...

Cellular Dude: I was not aware that MetroPCS is "my" company, nor that I work for that company, nor that I'm authorized agent for the that company, nor am I the paid publicist for that company. In fact MetroPCS gets about $54/month out of me, charged without fail to my credit card. Could you please explain where in my earlier posts I said I worked for MetroPCS, owned MetroPCS, contracted with MetroPCS, an authorized (or unauthorized) agent for MetroPCS? Some how I ...

Interesting enough Cellular Dude, I posted that job notice as an indicator that MetroPCS will be starting service in the Dallas/Fort Worth area quite soon. I would estimate that MetroPCS commence service in the Dallas/Fort Worth area in about 3 months. If you change your mind and want to apply for the retail store manager position, I'd suggest that proof read your resume before sending it to MetroPCS, lest they throw it in the recycle been after they are through ...

I'm not sure where you got the idea that in 2 weeks MetroPCS will commence service in the Orlando market. On 27 October 2005 they were soliciting people for RF engineers. I'm not sure how you can be looking to hire RF engineers at the end of one month, and have a fully functioning system 45 days later. http://metropcs.com/careers/careers List.php has current listings for positions in the Central Florida (Orlando also) areas. On 27 October 2005 Metropcs.com posted 8 job listings for the Orlando/Lakeland area. When looking over past job listings for the Tampa area, I'd say you are still another 6 months minimum before start of Metropcs service in Orlando/Lakeland. Still not too bad, the Tampa/St. Petersburg/Sarasota market is doing well, and the service adjoins with the southwest and southeast Florida coverage. Au contraire pierre. My intent was to use the Nokia 6255i in credit card roaming, not MetroPCS Atlanta market area roaming. My disagreement was the fact that I could not even make a credit card outgoing call. Which is exactly what I am supposed to be able to do. I noticed that MetroPCS service is now available in the Tampa/St. Petersburg/Sarasota market now. Coverage (at least depicted by their map) is from Brooksville south all the way to Marco Island ...

Drove from Boca Raton to Land O' Lakes via I-75 (thru Tampa) on 1 September 2005. Coverage was fine until just north of Port Charlotte. "No Service Available" was the screen display on the Nokia 6255i the rest of the way. Even in Tampa itself there was no service. MetroPCS is opening their Tampa, Sarasota, St. Petersburg stores on 15 September. I gather that service will start then or sooner. Tomorrow I'm driving back to Fort Lauderdale thru Tampa, will ...

no roaming service in atlanta with nokia 6255i
Aug 17, 2005, 4:50 PM

I have a Nokia 6255i with MetroPCS that I purchased about 3 months ago. My home coverage area is south Florida from Port Charlotte to Marco Island on the west coast, from Key West to Vero Beach on the east coast. Yesterday I was passing thru Atlanta Hartsfield airport and my phone was set to "Automatic Roaming" rather than MetroPCS only. The Nokia 6255i determined that there was a MetroPCS service site available and synced with it. Lo and behold ...

MetroPCS now has authorized dealers in Martin (Stuart), St Lucie (Fort Pierce) and Indian River (Vero Beach) counties on the Florida east coast. Coverage of MetroPCS now extends from Jupiter to Sebastian. I look forward to Tampa/St. Petersburg/Sarasota being operational by this September. It does remind me of the days of Primeco slowly increasing their coverage of Florida.
