Thanks for the confirmation. Then I assume that they cannot track a non AT&T smartphone and I can use a T-Mobile phone?

Can I use a non AT&T smartphone such as a Blackberry for just calls and texting and not get a message that I am required to have a data plan with that phone. I understand that they can track the phone from the ID number on the phone. I have no need for data. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Can I use a non AT&T smart phone for calls and texting only and not get a message that I need to get a data plan with the phone I am using? I tried an AT&T Blackberry and got this message. I am told they can track the phone by the ID on the phone. I am not interested in a data plan as I only do texting. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Does the phone have speed dialing such as using hot keys and if so could someone tell me how to set this up? Thanks

I am looking to upgrade to a a smart phone within the next three months. What new phones are expected other than the new IPone. I like the idea of the tilt style but see that AT&T has a very limited selection compared to Verizon. Why is this so? I am just not that crazy about the HTC Tilt. Can we expect any new phones in this form from companies such as LG or Samsung. Thanks for all input.

As the previously very happy owner of the 650 I moved onto the 750. Oh my goodness what a disaster. It was incredible buggy and I was forced to live with the anticipation( now over 10 months) that Palm may release the WM6. So I have just finally dumped Palm and must admit I am very very happy with the 8310. Cannot speak to the Tilt but I personally don't like the form factor. I am happy not to ...

Rich and Eric, you guys did a great job of your coverage. Could you give us any time frame for the release of these new smart phones from Moto, Nokia, Samsung and HTC? Also which carrier will have these beauties?

New Cingular Non Business E-Mail Service just announced

I heard that Cingular has just announced some exciting changes. Could somebody please explain to me how this will work? I have a Treo 650 and use use a media plan to log into my e-mail account but it is a pain as I have to log in each time. The existing Blackberry plan is $39.95 extra per month. Will I be able to get similar features to the Blackberry plan?

Just as I was reading Elihuspeaks thread I got a call from Cingular to say the technical problem had finally been resolved and that the port is working and to come pick up the phone and sim card. To say that I am happy is just a major understatement. Boy this forum seems to have brought me luck. Thanks.

I was with Cingular before but thru a sub agent of theirs so I received a bill from this subagent each month and not Cingular. My main number was ported over just the second number is a problem. Thanks

Having a problem porting one of two numbers. Got the first ported but have been having a problem with Cingular on the second. The technicians have now been telling me for over two weeks that they are working on this but I am still waiting......... Could somone please tell me where to complain so I get proper assistance. Do I go to a government watch dog or is there a Cingular division? Any help would really be appreciated.

Could someone please explain to me the various add-on rate plans available for use with the Treo. I am told that there is a $39.95 package and that there may a less inexpensive one but no one can really give me specific information. The Cingular sales reps certainly don't know. Any help would really be appreciated. Thanks.

My local Cingular store here in Los Angeles tells me that they are just not moving the V3 and that everybody is waiting for a price adjustment. He thinks it will only come after the launch of the new SE 710A. Does anybody have any inside scoop as to when the price of the phone will drop? Appreciate any info.
