Re: Wirefly.com Feedback
No.. six months to SEND in the rebates... who knows how long its going to take for you to get it. LOL
I'm keeping my fingers crossed.
Re: Wirefly.com Feedback
I bought a phone through WireFly and I ported from TMobile.
I bought it on a Saturday, the phone was supposed to reach me on Thursday, but guess what, they ported me on Tuesday! So I was without service for two days (even no voicemail)... but I did get my phone eventually and the deal was good. (I heard WireFly/Inphonic does this a lot and its a scheduling problem... I would recommend making your purchase on a Monday/Tuesday).
Secondly most people ...
Re: Cingular's "Tax and Surcharge" more than TWICE of Tmobile's
Not to start a flaming war... but indeed IF Tmobile somehow is able to charge less for Tax, wouldn't it be a legitimate reason to switch??
It is Cingular's problem if somehow they have to charge more for tax and they have to compensate either by charging less for their plans or win over their customers by better coverage (which IMHO they have).
Re: Cingular's "Tax and Surcharge" more than TWICE of Tmobile's
You just don't get it do you?
I did not move, I just changed providers...so for whatever reason $39.99 is on Cingular is NOT $39.99 on TMobile.
I have no problems paying taxes, but IF Cingular charges twice more for taxes than Tmobile for services offered in the SAME location... something is wrong.
Again, it could just be an error in the "welcome kit".. so I'll refrain from posting until I get the real bill.
Re: Cingular's "Tax and Surcharge" more than TWICE of Tmobile's
OK.. its the Bill Estimator... I guess I'll wait until the bill actually arrives before complaining :)
Re: Cingular's "Tax and Surcharge" more than TWICE of Tmobile's
I'm not talking about the "first bill".. I'm talking about the statement I received that says "monthly bill".. I KNOW about the first bill and stuff...
In the welcome kit, there is two columns.. First Month and Monthly... My first month came up to $105 (which I'm not complaining)... its the monthly column that shows a surcharge of $13.
Lets put it this way, anyone else on Cingular in CA gets a monthly $13 surcharge on a plan for $39.99??
Re: Cingular's "Tax and Surcharge" more than TWICE of Tmobile's
I also need to add that both T-mobile and Cingular plans were $39.99 plans.
Cingular's "Tax and Surcharge" more than TWICE of Tmobile's
I just got my bill from Cingular after switching from Tmobile and I was quite surprised to see Cingular add a full $13 for "Tax and Surcharge" on my monthly bill!
TMobile only charged me $5.40 for the same items.
Both Cingular and Tmobile charged me $1.20 in "Federal Excise Tax ($1.20)", but only Cingular chaged "State & Local Tax ($4.40) - California".
Also TMobile's 911 fee was 27 cents while Cingular tacked a FULL $3.22!!! Man I need to make some ...
Recording playback to person on the other end is soft.
I used to have a T68i and one thing I loved to do is to record sounds and play them back as a prank when I call someone up.
I find that you can do that with the 6230 but when I play it back the sound on the other end is SOOO soft!! The recording is loud and clear when played locally though...
so I guess that's just another "bug" with the phone... I've never had a phone that ...
Re: 12mth vs 24mth contracts
I think that's the case, Wirefly was giving out the Nokia 6230 for free for either the 1yr or 2yr contracts (no difference) with a $150 penalty for early cancellation two weeks ago.
Now they only have 2yr contracts and the cancellation penalty has suddenly shot up to $240.... interesting!!
12mth vs 24mth contracts
I know Cingular's contracts at their stores and online are 24 months, but I could've sworn wirefly/inphonic were offering Cingular plans for 12 months only a week ago... I can't find those plans now.
Amazon apparently still has 12mth contracts for Cingular.
Interesting... I wonder if there's a Cingular directives to their agents to discontinue the 12mth contracts?

The price comparison is really:
T-mobile $52.98 1000 anytime
Cingular $49.99 600 anytime w/ rollover
OK I won't go into comparison with plans with additional lines OR mobile-to-mobile because I don't need them.. so I'll give you that Cingular wins there... but for the individual user.. the comparison is still boils down to:
T-mobile $45.99 1000 anytime
Cingular $49.99 600 anytime w/rollover
I understand the ORIGINAL 1000 minutes plan (no N/W) may have not sold well because it took away N/W... but hey I ...
Re: New Rate Plans?
Any news? :)
Come on Cingular's got to have something since TMobile came out with their new 39.99/45.99 1000 minute plans!
Copy contacts from Sim?
Does anyone know how I can do an import of the contact numbers from the SIM? I can do a one by one copy but its a pain in the behind.
I'm switching providers so my old SIM will be useless soon.
Re: Unlocking Tmobile phone from eBay
Terry sort of hinted at that but it wasn't as clear as you made it! Thank you for clarifying!!
Unlocking Tmobile phone from eBay
I got tired of the original t68i that I got with my Tmobile service (piece of crap) and sold it on ebay... I then bought a Samsung R225 (awesome phone) through eBay.
This phone is currently locked into Tmobile and I would like to unlock it. I heard Tmobile will let you unlock your original phone, but since I never unlocked my original phone, would they allow me to unlock this one?
I've had my service for 8 months.
Re: New Rate Plans?
Umm I don't see the plan you are talking about anywhere.. the only one I see is 1000 "digital" +N/W (local) for $59.99.
The Cingular plan I was referring to was 1000 (no N/W) nationwide for $39.99. If there was a comparable plan on Verizon (nationwide) for the same price.. heck, I'd consider it.. even though I have a preference for GSM :)
Re: New Rate Plans?
So that means new customers don't qualify??
Re: New Rate Plans?
I disagree. You see for me, I have no friends, no social life... but I do have a business... so 90% of my calls are peak.
I'm currently on TMobile and when Cingular 1000 came out I thought about switching but felt "better the devil you know"... but now the reception is getting even worse where I live (Milpitas), and I'm itching to switch.. but alas.. the plan is gone :(
