Hmm. I just ported my number from AT&T to a prepaid T-Mobile account last week to save money. Just noticed the other day the display was saying 4G above the signal indicator. Looking at that link does not show my city listed in the Modernized markets. Wonder if they are testing it here now.

Not certain. But in my opinion its highly doubtful AT&T will pick it up. If you REALLY want the phone you can always buy it unlocked and put your AT&T SIM card it. By doing this you will not have any of the stuff AT&T puts on their phones. It will be WAY more expensive this way since you will be paying full retail for the phone. Newegg has it for $459 right now. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a spx?Item=N82E16875205183&Tpk=e72 Amazon has it for $469 http://www.amazon.com/Nokia-Unlocked-Ph one-Version-Warranty/dp/B002QEBM96/ref=sr_1_1 /181-4052480-8674023?ie=UTF8&s=wireless&qid=1 259812838&sr=8-1-catcorr The one problem ...

As far as I know AT&T's system won't know you are using an unlocked smartphone on their system. Since the E71 is not a phone they sell it won't list in their system as a smartphone. I myself am using the $15/month unlimited media net package for internet. So far so good. If you do get the E71. The easiest way to make sure you don't use AT&T's data network is to remove the AT&T Internet access point that ...

Sounds like your phone has the wrong language pack installed on it. Or perhaps someone replaced the keyboard with a different one. The one suggestion you could try would be to reflash the firmware on the phone to see if that fixes the language problem. But it is rather extreme because you will loose everything on your phone. All programs, ringtones, settings, pictures, contacts, etc.. will be wiped off the phone once it is reflashed. So BACK UP ALL YOUR ...

Depends on what you are looking for. If you use google you will find plenty of cases for the E71 which will also fit the E71x as it is the same body. I use this one as it is cheap. Covers the whole body except the keyboard, volume keys, micro sd/usb ports, camera on the back. The plastic does scratch easily. http://www.dealextreme.com/details .dx/sku.14761 DX is not based in the US. It will take some time to get to you. I waited about ...

There is a slow pulsing light around the D pad which is called the Breathing Light. It lets you know the phone is turned on. Another thing it does is to pulse quickly. This happens upon new messages/voicemails/emails.

Re: Weird (Nokia E71x)

That is referred to as the breathing light. It is just to let you know that the phone is turned on. I have a standard E71 here.. so long as AT&T didn't jack up the menu structure you would go here to turn it off: Menu - Tools - Profiles Select Normal Click on it and select Customize Scroll down to Breathing Light and turn it off. Now on regular E71's this disables the breathing light.. but it now activates a clock ...

The E71 does come with a program called QuickOffice. Its either a trail or a version that Nokia came to an agreement to put on it. I forget. You do have the option to pay to upgrade to a newer version of Quickoffice if you so choose. You should be able to create Word/Excell documents and edit them. I tried the word editor and it works fine for simple text documents. You can do some minor ...

Actually the E71 is considered a Smartphone. So it is not supposed to the use Unlimited Media Net option. That is why they say to keep checking to make sure it does not get removed. It is supposed to use the unlimited smartphone internet (or PDA connect. I forget) that is like $29.99 a month.

Depends on if you feel safe buying it online or not. My local best buy did carry the unlocked version of the E71.. not certain about yours. Since she's a new customer and she wants the E71. Pay per Use has NO MONTHLY SERVICE FEE. You only get charged WHEN YOU USE IT. So I STILL say they should have left that $150 charge on your bill because YOU WERE using AT&T's internet. The E71 WILL NOT WORK on Verizon. The E71 uses GSM (ie: AT&T or TMobile) and not CDMA (Verizon). It may operate on the same frequency bands.. but not the same technology. Buy one if you don't believe me. But you will be wasting $400 on a phone that WILL NOT WORK on Verizon.

You are limited to 160 characters per text message. But you can keep typing past that limit. It will simply send multiple text messages then. There is a counter at the top that says: 160 (1) The 160 is obviously a countdown of the characters in the text and the number in parenthesis is the number of text messages it is going to send. When you go past 160 characters the (1) will increase to (2) and ...

I assume you already know how to speed select items with the shift key (2nd key from the left at the bottom). Then after you have marked them all you can use the backspace key to delete them. That's the key with an x on it inside an arrow pointing to the left. Right above the enter key. Hope this helps. Posted wirelessly with my own E71.

Yeah it sucks that it doesn't charge via USB.. BUT.. you do have a couple options. USB powered charge cable http://www.nokiausa.com/link?cid=EDI TORIAL_356816 But that means you use up 2 USB ports. One for data and one for charging unless you plan on using bluetooth to transfer stuff between phone and laptop.

I am on AT&T myself. You are NOT required to get a data plan just because the phone can get on the internet. Compared to the Iphone which IS required to get a data plan. BUT pay per use internet will probably get added on. There is no monthly charge for it. You would only get charged if you transmitted any data. And if memory serves it gets charged at 1 cent per kilobyte transmitted. The phone does have ...

The grainy pictures would more than likely be a hardware bug. I personally think it's electrical noise being introduced into sensor and that gets captured into the pictures. A firmware update to the camera program would probably not fix that problem unless they introduced some serious noise filtering into it. One guy over on the Nokia forums said the video camera took better pictures. It only appears that way because the 'high quality' setting is really just a 320x240 recording. With ...

I would suggest reselling it and buying a north american model. Would be easier then you could also use 3G. Note there are 3 (Yes THREE) different models of the E71. The E71-2 (on newegg) is the usa model. the only real different on the other two are the 3G bands on the device.

Orange? As in the European Orange Cell phone carrier? Why did you buy a european model when you could have bought the north american model (with AT&T 3g network bands) from Newegg. Yes it would be possible to reflash it. Just not very easy to do yourself. I would look over on Howard Forums or the Nokia discussion forums. But you would have to get the flashing software itself. Which is not an easy feat to find.
