Z10 and Mac

Question for Eric/Rich. Have you tried syncing the phone to a Mac computer? Any difference with the BlackBerry Desktop Manager between a PC and Mac? I'm curious to know since traditionally BB and Mac have not worked so well.

My major post-merger concern...
Oct 3, 2012, 8:47 AM
in the Article: Deutsche Telekom and MetroPCS Announce Merger forum

Would be the plans that Metro offer. Do they not have one plan for "unlimited" data yet charge a higher price for "unlimited" data including streaming video and music? That really flies in the face of net neutrality. I wonder if Metro will eventually force T-Mobile subscribers on to similar plans.

The savings....

if any, look like they are on the voice and messaging as those are unlimited. However, they really jacked up the prices on data, so it is a wash in the end. I am hoping they will still offer a la carte family plans and not force customers into this.

Regardless, I think Nokia has handled the situation with urgency and with customer satisfaction in mind. I'm using the Lumia 900 and it's a great phone for my needs.

Just curious if you would be switching to DISQUS in the near future or using the Facebook social plug in for the comment system. I think it would take away the anonymity of the current system, so that people would mind what they say around here.

Pentaband 3G?
Mar 29, 2011, 3:45 PM
in the Article: Review: Nokia C7 Astound forum

The Astound is a penta-band 3G phone, but since it is locked to T-Mobile's network, it can't roam onto AT&T's 850/1900MHz 3G network. Does this mean that if you unlock the phone and insert an AT&T SIM card, you can use their 3G network?

At least you understand the concept of tiered data, which that ideal is lost on the OP. To suggest that this or ANY tablet won't sell because of limited data is ludicrous.

As long as there is an option for unlimited data, then I'm all for it. Not everyone watches Netflix all the time

That is totally ridiculous. If anything, some people would PREFER to pay for the smaller data package due to the fact they are on Wi-Fi most of the time. You make it sound like tiered data is horrible.

No disrespect to duncan38d, but he has severely misinformed some of you all. Sideloading in the case that EliteABombAZ is referring to is the ability to load 3rd party app outside of the Android Marketplace. You will still have the ability to load pics, music, and video to this phone with no problems!!!

I laugh at sunilsonia. I remember in the T-Mobile forums over a year ago he was downplaying T-Mobile and singing the praises of AT&T how they had great 3G coverage and Rollover was the best thing since sliced bread. Nowadays? "Rollover is a joke!!!" and "Their 3G is horrible!!!"

I wonder what this means for T-Mobile and the Sidekick line, considering Danger is owned by Microsoft. Sidekicks were made for social networking, and that line has been stagnate for a long time and could use a platform such as Kin.

Thanks for the info, Jay. With the wireless tethering, I can cancel my home internet and just use my phone instead. I do download music, but it is legal downloading as I don't believe in torrents. I think I can average 5 GB a month.

The difference between T-Mobile and other 3 is that you are paying less per month with the no contract option than you would be with a contract. The price of the subsidy is built into the monthly rate plan you pay per month. With the other 3 companies, you still pay the same price per month regardless if you bought the phone at full price, using your own equipment, or signed a contract to get the phone at a ...

The most common reason is that you may have changed your plan before your contract expired. My suggestion to you is keep pressing the rep about it and keep reminding them that your contract is expired. You should get the full discount upgrade because you can cancel at any moment without penalty and T-Mobile doesn't want to lose your business.

I do want the Internet, but $30 is to steep for me. I heard that unbranded phones could use the MediaNet plan and still access the Internet just fine. Is that true? That could save me some serious coin.

I have a similar question as well. Do the new smartphone data requirements apply to unbranded phones? I was considering buying a Nokia E or N series phone and I heard that people with those phone where getting by with just the MediaNet plan.

Rich or Eric, I don't know if this is in the right forum or not, so I'll ask. I'm just curious to know why you guys haven't posted any info about T-Mobile's Project Dark/Black. Some info has leak on BGR but TmoNews decided not to post that info. Was it because the info is pure speculation or journalistic ethics?

in the Article: FCC Says Wireless Providers Need to Offer 'Open Internet' forum

Good points to consider. However, without NN companies would start capping data and possibly introduce "tier" pricing (paying extra money to visit certain sites) Time Warner has already talked about doing this and wireless companies are ALREADY jacking up prices as you describe and there are no NN rules set up. I don't wanna pay an extra $10 to access Facebook because the companies say it uses too much bandwith, and what qualifications would a website meet to say ...

No, you WANT a smartphone and EXPECT not to pay the price for the ENTIRE service. Whether or not you WANT the internet is irrelevant. Expect to pay the price for what you buy.

But the world doesn't work that way. People want everything and expect to pay nothing.
