Re: Weird PRL?
So, as far as I know, the PRL systems are as follows:
Non-EVDO devices are the 1XXXX series.
Non-EVDO with Roaming Triangle are the 5XXXX series.
EVDO devices are the 2XXXX series.
EVDO with Roaming Triangle - 6XXXX series.
I was just curious what the 3- and 4-series PRLS were for. Thanks though!
Re: Weird PRL?
One of the M500s. I've also never heard about any PRLs starting with 4XXXX. The phone is operational, and I don't seem to see any difference between the reception on this phone and the other M500. They both carry the same number of bars wherever I take them, dying in dead spots and having full signal where they should.
I'm just hoping someone from inside Sprint can tell me what difference this PRL has from the other ones.
Weird PRL?
So earlier today, I called Sprint to have the phones on my account flagged for a PRL update. All five of the lines were able to update, however, I found that only four of them updated to 20231. The other phone, my line, was updated to 40410. Does anyone know what the 4XXXX series of PRLs is for? We have 2 Samsung SPH-M500s, 3 Motorola V3ms, and 1 Samsung A900m.
Thanks in advance!
Brian
Re: Bad design
Well, yeah, because the SureType keyboard is the same concept as the one on the Pearl....[SureType was licensed by Samsung from BlackBerry.]
E900 in Silver?
I'm looking to find one of these in Silver. Anyone wanna make an offer?
Re: I Don't Know...
Well, the Moto Capri is the slider version of the Canary.
Re: A840 speakerphone
I believe it is full duplex, if I'm correct.
Re: Vibrate Modes
changing ring volume settings is done simply from using the volume rocker located on the left side of the phone while holding the clamshell open. to enable vibrate, click the "OK" button while in the volume settings. to edit specific settings for each type of ringer [alarm/voicemail/texts/etc] you may go through the Settings>>Sounds>>Volume Menus.
Design...
does anyone but me think this design looks interestingly similar to the moto v600/v620/v635? [more like the v620, but with the 635's screen]...
Re: Does anyone know anything about the flash on the samsung A840? And if so how do you use it?
there is no flash on the camera....
Re: omg
sorry. not for cingular. no gsm850 band.
Re: antenna
it's pretty strong from what i've seen. it's alot better than my previous phones. it might even be comprable to my sanyo pm-8200
Re: Verizon?
you could buy it from sprint for full price and call verizon to get a new esn and activate it with them. i highly discourage this unless you are an advanced user. you can search the internet on ways to do this. however, if you do, you will not be able to use it on sprint again.
Re: Can I download photo's from my a840 to my laptop with out buying software?
BitPim now as SPH-A840 listed also.
Re: Samsung A840
the external display has no options. just the digital clock. and yes, it is now outlook sync-able with BitPim and you can also transfer images to your computer.
Re: How Can I Download Ringtones To My Phone Using The USB Cable?
1. Download BitPim. [Version 0.8.08 or newer
http://www.bitpim.org/
2. Connect Your Phone, Click on Edit>>Detect Phone or Edit>>Settings and select SPH-A840 as your phone, and select your COM Port [Should be under the active list as "Samsung CDMA Modem #X"]
3. Select "OK"
5. Click the "Ringers" tab.
5. Click "Add" above "Ringers" tab.
6. Select the MP3 you want and follow directions from there.
Re: Can I download photo's from my a840 to my laptop with out buying software?
yes, you can. if you'd really like to, use bitpim [go to bitpim.org] and a usb cable. connect your phone as the pm-a740, and have bitpim extract your wallpapers. this should get you all of the pictures you have taken on your phone.
Re: Simple, refined look
no, actually, its just a LED light, similar in fashion to the one on the Samsung SPH-A600/SCH-A610, but one color.
Re: release date?? A900
as of today [11.18.05] at 6:18 cst, samsung has the a900 on their site, which leads me to believe it will be released before the holiday season.

Re: Why isn't the 950 on phonescoop yet???
if i'm correct, there is a picture of the a950 on the most recent samsung email. =)
Re: a little a880 clarification please...
yes, this is basically the same as your phone, just in a smaller form factor
Re: Color
actually, if you look at the sprint page for this phone, under gallery, the pictures of the phone are now silver. (the 360 view is still the purple) i hope they leave it without the sprint label too (but i doubt that)...

Re: this is just really cool if you can get it 2 work
you can also do this by answering your call with a hands free headset, then unplugging it.
Re: Speakerphone? No Vibrate?
it does have speakerphone, if you buy the extra speakerphone accessory from samsung. and i'm pretty sure it has vibrate

Samsung MM-A880?
Hey guys, any idea when the Samsung MM-A880/SPH-A880 is coming out? Thanks.

Not Compatible w/ BitPim???
okay. so from what i have inferred, basically, the a600 and a620(VGA1000) have essentially the same programming software. but, when i try and use this phone with BitPim, (under A620, due to no A600 selection) and try to transfer ringtones and pictures (wallpaper, album), the phone automatically reboots, then shuts down after the sprint screen. on the error log, it displays that the phone becomes idle after switching to "brew mode". any help???
Looks Like Verizon
Samsung.com has a picture of the n330 with verizon branding. normally, samsung.com doesnt even post the phone pictures until they have been released and sold by carriers... hmmm... foreshadowing anything?

Re: Looks like a winner
really? with the same price tag as the a680, which has video recording, is fairly smaller in size, and a tft display, rather than stn, i would think that would sell far better than this one. the only people i would think would buy this phone over that one would be younger audiences looking for changeable faceplates, people tired of the original samsung menus and people who cant find the a680.
What????
okay. i apoplgize for this, as it may be a silly question. from what i understand, sprint is purely cdma from the start; and nextel is completely iDEN/tdma based. if these two companies were to merger, how exactly can they share networks, and what does this mean for current customers like myself? if nextel and sprint were to become one company, how exactly would this affect what they do sell in the future (would it be iDEN or CDMA)? ...
Re: The big, ugly "Samsung" stickers
Looks like the giant sticker fell off the i550 before you took the pictures, as if it weren't obviously going to sprint anyways.
