Replace LG Acolade VX5600 with Clout?
Aug 12, 2010, 3:33 PM
in the LG Clout forum

I picked up a LG Acolade from Costco a month ago. It's an OK phone. It looks like it has longer battery life and smaller size than the Clout according to the specs. It does have one annoying thing. The camera button on the side of the phone is easy to activate when in your pocket or when opening the phone. Can anyone confirm the Clout doesn't have this problem? Costco has a generous 90 day return policy so ...

The BX50 battery is not made to work with the slim battery door that comes standard on the RAZR2. That's why you are having trouble with the fit. Get the standard battery door and you will have a much nicer fit. Also you will not have to modify things and worry about battery leaking and buying insurance because you are worried about battery leaking. You can even go to a BX80 which is 1300 mah.

I think I answered my own question. The Razr2 has a micro usb, not a mini as discussed in previous posts. So to connect my Mini usb chargers from my old razr I can get a mini/micro adapter.

Mini USB compatable with V3C

I am reading here on the forum that the Razr2 has a mini usb. My older RazrV3C is also supposed to be mini usb. However when I compared the 2 phones at the store the connectors looked different. Can anyone confirm that my V3C car charger will work with the RAZR2?

Could you elaborate a little on why you think there is no longer a need for a pda? I need a phone to be a very basic pda and I never felt my Razr V3i was quite up to the task.

Voice recognition problem
Aug 12, 2005, 12:22 PM
in the Motorola V265 / V266 / V276 forum

The voice recognition on the 265 is great most of the time. I do have one problem. A lot of times when I say "name dial" the phone thinks I said "re-dial" and takes off dialing the last number dialed. Anybody else have this problem? It does this on both my phone and my wifes, so it is not just a voice or phone.

But if you check the user reviews as you suggest you will see the v265 is not such a bad phone. The 265 with a user review rating of 3.75 is higher than the V710 and right in line with other popular phones such as LG 6100. While I don't doubt that a number of 265s had problems, it seems that the majority of them are solid performers. Yes the camara sucks and the screen is small but when ...

Jun 21, 2005, 12:21 PM

The screen saver screen does come up but as you noted it is hard to see because the backlight timer turns the backlight off before the screensaver takes affect. Hit any key. The backlight will come on, you will briefly see the screensaver before the wallpaper displays. I have never found a way around this but I am not sure I want or need to. Keeping the backlight on longer will only kill the battery. If you really want ...

I am not sure what he is getting at with the corrosion on the accessory port comment. But here's how they tell if your phone has been wet. Under the battery stuck to the phone is a small round white dot. It turns red when exposed to moisture.

The sites to download Motorola Product Support Tool can be found by looking on cellphonehacks.com and howardforums.com. This tool will allow the date to display but will not unlock the download capability. There are other tools to unlock the download capability which can be found on the mentioned forums. Be careful, go slow and read everything on these forums before using these tools. They are not the easiest and most user friendly but they do accomplish the task. I just ...

Then down load PST and again make sure you read everything on the sites about error merssages, etc you will get while installing the software. After you complete all the steps to remove the banner, the phone must be restarted. This is done from the software. This will all be ...

This can be done. First you need Motorola Phone Tools and the USB cable with established connection to the phone. From there you need to download some hacks along with a hex editor to edit the seem files on the phone. You can find complete instructions along along with download sites on cellphonehcaks.com and howardforms.com. Be prepared to do a lot of reading. If you are not comfortable with hex editors and and the like you may want to ...

I did a lot of research before getting my v265. The 710 along with some other phones had a much better screen along with other nice to have features (bluetooth, better camara, date display etc). But my main purpose was to have a phone that worked as a phone. The V265 was the best at any price. A lot of this was based on info from others at this site and others like it. The file is very small. "Verizon Wireless" is only in 2 places and that is on the first 2 lines. All you have to do is delete the text. I just did a *228 and the date is still there. Also the edit only affects the Verizon Wireless/Date line on the display. The "1x" is still there one line above the date.

After doing some reading on cellphonehacks.com and howardforms.com, here is what I found. First you need a USB cable to connect your phone to PC. This comes with Motorola Phone Tools Software available on E-bay and from others. This allows PC to phone connection for contacts and calander only. You have to download Motorola Product Support Tool (PST) and install it. This allows you to edit the "CDMA Enhanced Roaming Indicator File" on the phone. The text "Verizon Wireless" ...

There is really nothing to figure out. Verizon has not made the change yet to allow the date to be displayed. If they do make the change the date will be displayed where it now says Verizon Wireless. You can try this to see the date. Go to phone info, select active line, select new line. Guess what? Verizon Wireless is gone and the date now displays like it should. Of course your phone no longer works because the ...

I have both a V60i and V265 in front of me. The V60i has a solid metal battery cover and the V265 has a cheap plastic one. But if I grip both phones by the sides and wiggle the battery cover side to side the metal cover actually has more play. Are you sure one of the plastic cover clips hasn't broken off?

Actually, drying it out does help. If you do a search on the net you will see there have been many cases where phones have been dunked (some even the ocean) and they come back to life after drying. But not mine. You mentioned there are several ways to tell if it was wet. The only way I and others know of is the little white dot behind the battery that turns red if it gets wet. I will ...

The button on the side does nothing for the date display. The date will display in the next software release. The screen is a little smaller than I would like but it's really not that big of an issue.

Re: Date Display

The 265 you saw at RS with the date displayed was not activated. Once the phone gets activated the date is no longer displayed. To do this on your phone, go to the phone info menu, select active line and select new line. The date will now be displayed because you are unactivated. Go back in and change back to your line so the phone works again.

The "reset" is just like it says. It resets your settings without actually removing any frome the phone. The "clear" will remove things like contacts and pictures.

These are 2 methods of getting all your settings back to factory defaults. Except for unlock code, security code, and lifetime timer. The clear will also get all user settings and entries such as contacts. The reset will leave them alone.

You and 10 million other people are looking for that, including me. I didn't see anything new on the horizon so I went for the 265. Your only other option is the v260 on vzw from Radio Shack. It's basically the 265 without the camera. Same dimensions, same weight , same price (well sort of). I didn't think it looked as good as the 265.

I don't see any other way to activate it. I just tested mine and it works. You won't get the beep until "missed call" is displayed on the screen for exactly 5 minutes. I never timed my v60i but I think it was the same.

I would get rid of the 265 if it wasn't the best verizon phone available. Even the phones costing much more just don't due it for me. The date not displaying is just a temporary problem. A software update should be along soon. I was able to use this to my advantage. I have 3 265s which I told them I would return if software for date wasn't fixed within my 15 day trial.
