Can anyone tell me when Nassau & Suffolk counties on Long Island are scheduled to get LTE? Sucks that it stops just east of Queens.

in the Article: AT&T-Compatible Version of Nexus One for Sale from Google forum

I use a hosted exchange, not my own or my company's. I don't need remote wipe. I have been using this service for years.... push email, sync contacts/calendar/tasks/notes. That's all I need. I know that I may not get the notes part with Android, and I've read that for some reason the Nexus One (at least the TMO version) doesn't allow Exchange to sync calendar (no problem, I can sync my calendar w/gmail). The only thing I REALLY rely ...

I currently use an Iphone 3GS, and because I use a hosted Exchange service for my email/contacts/calendar, I have the unlimited Enterprise Iphone data plan. If I was to switch to the Nexus One, and want to continue using the Microsoft Exchange functions of the phone, what data plan do I need to switch to? I want something that has unlimited data, unlimited text, and enterprise (exchange) capability. Thanks!

in the Article: Apple Brings New Functionality to iPhone forum

Do you have any idea how many corporate types would fling their Treos or other Windows Mobile devices out the window for an iPhone if it was capable of being hooked up to the company's exchange server? Who gives a rats ass about multiple SMS recipients or GPS location finders..... these are nice little things that might make a difference to some, but man, if I was Apple I'd be burning the midnight oil trying to tap into the ...

Amen brother. 3G, 4G, hell, might as well be 18G. Half the country still lives in an Edge only world, and that includes an alarming number of major metropolitan areas. It's really great to go to an AT&T corp. store in my area and see all the great gadgets and toys that can't be used in my area. Thanks for teasing us man!

Nuff said. End of story. Could not have said it better myself. I could care less if ATT introduces a 4G card, a 5G card, or even a 20G card. WIth barely 50% of the country covered, they really have put the cart before the horse.

With well over 50% of the US still without 3G coverage, AT&T really needs to forget about silly crap like this until the majority of it's customers can realistically take advantage of it. It's very nice to talk about all these nifty new features & programs, but what good are they if we don't have the coverage to use them? I still can't believe that here in Long Island, suburb to the largest metropolitan city in the world, we ...

Here's a novel idea for AT&T...... how about focusing on the 40-50% of the US that still lives without 3G before launching services that require 3G? Stop putting the cart before the horse.

in the Article: Two More Windows Mobile Phones Coming To Cingular forum

I can tell you this..... having owned and sold the unlocked version of this phone (6915), it is very weak in comparison to what is out there today. Aside from the fact that at this point Cingular should not be releasing any smartphone or PDA that does not have UTMS, both the screen resolution as well as the battery life of this unit completely SUCK. The big ol' screen, when combined with 240x240 resolution means grainy, grainy, grainy. Plan ...

in the Samsung SPH-A960 forum

A bit off topic, but why is it that just about every Samsung phone Sprint comes out with has a talk time of just 3 hours and requires you to buy an extended battery the size of a brick in order to avoid having to charge your phone every single day? You would think in this day and age, with technology being what it is, that someone would figure out that in order to pack that much into a ...

It's a quad band GSM phone - Sprint is CDMA. Therefore this cannot be a Sprint phone. As the initial announcement mentions that the phone has EDGE, if it is ever released by a U.S. carrier, it will be Cingular, as T-Mobile is the only other U.S. GSM provider, and they do not have EDGE deployed as of yet.

Re: ATT service in NYC

in the AT&T Wireless forum

ATTWS will not benefit one shred in NYC from the merger w/Cingular. The only carriers positioned to benefit will be Cingular and T-Mobile. Why? 1) Because Cingular currently does not own any network of their own in NYC - they roam 100% on T-Mobile's network, which is all 1900mhz. Once the merger is complete, they will roam on AT&T's network (which will now be their own), as well as having a four-year agreement to continue roaming on T-Mobile. Then ...
