Rawlins, WY SID
Does anyone know the SID for the Rawlins, WY area or know of a SID list online where I can go find it myself?
Programming Instructions
Can anyone tell me the sequence to get into the Coupe's programming menu so I can retrieve my MIN, MDN and SID so I can transfer it all into another phone I have and activate it instead?
This stupid phone's been giving me nothing but trouble for the last 2 weeks.
Get It Now
I just received my 2366i today and I can't find Get It Now on my phone anywhere, even though the telesales rep assured me that this phone had it enabled.
So does this phone come standard with it or not? Is there a way to download it if it doesn't? Am I basically screwed for downloading new ringtones and games to this phone?
(I wanted a "good" phone but my employer doesn't allow camera phones on our jobsite for privacy/security reasons ...
MIDI Ringtone
Is there any way to send a MIDI file to the Milan to use a ringtone or are you stuck purchasing whatever Cricket has available?
Re: ANYONE ELSE DISAPPOINTED??
I've had it a year now. It's not THAT bad.
I got it as a free upgrade since they were out of the basic free Kyocera (non-flip) they were giving out last October.
Re: Buyout rumors
Uh, this was announced back in like December/January. So they are hardly rumors.
And yeah, all the Western Wireless Cellular One branded stores will be remodeled (at least ours will be) and rebranded to Alltel.
Re: GOOD QUESTION
I could be wrong, but I really doubt that they are going to hire anyone new until after the merger.
Re: Payments
I figured as much. I looked on the website and didn't mention anything, just the 'alternative' payment options. I've only seen one company that just flat out does not take payments in retail stores. Which would be nice, more time to focus on customer satisfaction rather than just taking money and sending people on their way.
Payments
Does Alltel take customer payments in the retail stores?
Re: Adding features without permison
We just got email on that. Only add what the customer wants, don't add something and then put the obligation on them to come back and cancel if they don't want it, and DO NOT DO NOT DO NOT add ANYTHING without even telling them.
Re: What is the deal with some people??
That's probably the hardest part of my job, phone pricing.
Having to explain to people that phones do go anywhere from $135 to $320 for a brand new phone. People coming in trying to get the website price on a renewal, etc...
By the way, I laughed at the smack in the back of the head. If only...
Re: Adding features without permison
Wow, isn't that totally illegal?
Prepaid / Pay-As-You-Go
So I'm driving up to Saskatchewan in May for 2 weeks for a vacation. I'm probably going to need a cell phone while I'm up there. What are the activation fees for some of the carriers? Who has a better deal in terms of how far a certain dollar amount will get you for minutes? Who has the cheapest phones? Not going to buy a $300 for half a month. As far as I know, Sasktel, Telus and Rogers ...
Re: WHY CAN'T TELUS RECEIVE PIX FROM ROGERS?
I could be wrong so don't quote me on this, but as far as I know no company in North America has inter-carrier multi-messaging capabilities. Just like when text messaging first came out, you couldn't send text messages to other carriers but as agreements were formed, that became a possiblity.
I know for sure that my company doesn't have it and none of my superiors are able to answer me on when that will be available.
SIM Card
That little slot under the battery, is that a SIM card slot? I want to say no, but I'm not sure and I can't find an answer anywhere.
If it is, I could use one from my store with a GSM carrier in Canada when I go up in May as a prepaid service. Totally not worth buying a new $200-300 phone for a half a month. :?
Re: I'm Baaaaack....
I forgot to add too:
We have been asked recently to answer the phones after 3 rings, regardless of how busy the store is. I hate this idea, as that means I have to put my current customer on hold as I answer the phone. I want to reward the customer who took the time out of their busy day to make it down here on their lunch hour or whatever as opposed to someone calling in.
I also refer a ...
Re: I'm Baaaaack....
I'm currently part time (39 hours) along with a full time rep (40 hours) and a full time assistant manager (40+ hours) in our store. The company can't move me up to full time because that would require a bump in my quota which the store can't meet with our current numbers. Sure it's busy as all hell, but it's payments, bill questions, random other stuff other than activations. But until we get more net accs per month, we ...

Dear E-Tard,
Thank you for adding some facts to base your opinion on.

Re: This might be a crazy idea....
I'm all for mergers and such. Gives companies more buying power with the manufacturers. Take Cingular. They are almost the Wal-Mart of wireless. They asked Motorola for a new cutting edge phone and got it, the RAZR V3. Anyone else have it? Nope. At least not yet. Exclusive contract going on for a while, not sure how long. With the Alltel merger, I hope we get an exclusive model nobody else has.
BUT, where does it end? We can't end ...
Re: Flashing other phones to use on CellularOne
Exactly. In practice, we refuse to give out SPC codes for the CDMA phones that use them. That's why they came out with them in the first place. *shrug*
Re: Welcome!
I've been here for a while but have yet to thank you for the site. I'm ALWAYS scribbling down the URL on my business cards and referring customers here.
Re: What is the deal with some people??
As he is not a minor and can make legally binding agreements by himself, it really doesn't matter what she thinks. If he likes it, and he was the satisfied customer, all is well with the world. Did she even mention why she thought "it wasn't right"? Sounds perfectly 'right' to me. Especially considering all the work you did.
Re: ALLTEL AND WESTERN WIRELESS JOIN
Yeah It'll probably just take some getting used to. Here in my area, coverage is rough with all the mountains and such as opposed to flat land like back east.
And sorry for not knowing about Kanses. I was running from memory, not any maps in front of me.
Re: ALLTEL AND WESTERN WIRELESS JOIN
Well it won't be getting worse. Rumor has it, Alltel is big on network quality, perfecting coverage in existing areas before moving on as opposed to rapidly expanding and leaving no-coverage pockets. Unlike the Cingular/AT&T merger who overlapped each other considerably, Western Wireless and Alltel overlap only in the Nebraska area, the rest of the country is mutually exclusve to each other. Which means good things for the national plans.
Re: This might be a crazy idea....
It'll never happen.
Not with a merger with Alltel on the horizon.

Just following up. I never heard back after I replied to your email and I think I deleted it along with your email address. Let me know.

External antenna maybe?

Re: Need guidance on cell providers... Bell, Fido, Rogers... Mike
I did some checking around at some canadian carriers today for my eventual move back home to Saskatchewan. Checked out Rogers, Sasktel, Telus and Fido. They do have some mutually exclusive phones and a couple of features are the same, but as a whole they all share one thing in common: an emphasis on nights and weekends. Take Rogers for example.
Evening and Weekend plans. Their 'mega time' plan for $20 gives you 100 weekday with free nights and weekends ...

Re: hello 2 fun question
Regardless of what you download, you're always going to be charged your Hello2Fun minutes from the time you connect (when the connecting window comes on) to the time you disconnect (back to idle screen).
Having the ringtone library application (Modtones, Ringster, etc...) costs you nothing. Buying ringtone credits costs you per credit. Typically credits are $1.99 each or $12.99 for 10 ($1.29 each). The good thing about buying 10 credits at once is you have 10 credits to use how ...
Re: hello 2 fun question
Okay lets say you opened up the Hello2Fun and went into the shopping cart menu, from there you go into the Ringtones catagory and select a ringtone library to download (Modtones or Ringster are my favorites). Download the ringtone library and it now appears in the same window as your shopping cart. Purchase ringtone credits then return to the ringtone library and download away.
Re: Phones you would like to see CellularONE get.
Really? I can't stand either of those brands.
I didn't like LG at all either until we received the VX-5550 last week.
Re: ALLTEL AND WESTERN WIRELESS JOIN
Keep in mind that this is just an announcement much like AT&T/Cingular 'announced' back in late 2003 / early 2004 but didn't actually 'close' until midsummer last year. From what I understand, this deal won't close (if at all) until mid 2005 so it is business as usual for both companies until then.
Re: wireless landline
Go to your house phone (if you have one) and trace the beige-ish cord (usually) from the phone to the wall, then picture that cord running underground to some kind of base station down the street then connecting from that to your local telco office.
Now picture your same home phone without thqat beige cord plugging into the wall, and instead with an internal antenna picking up a cellular signal. So it's like your cell phone you carry in your ...
Re: Phones you would like to see CellularONE get.
Keep an eye out for the LG LX5550, VX3200 and the Kyocera SoHo coming soon to a store near you.
Re: Flashing other phones to use on CellularOne
In my opinion, the reason why carriers ask manufacturers to pre-load software onto their phones is to reduce the likelyhood a customer will cancel and change carriers because the phone will not work (without flashing) adding hassle when trying to switch, forcing a customer to stay or buy a new phone after switching.
Some stores DO flash phones, some sent them to a tech center and have them flashed (sometimes at no charge, often with) but my local store does ...
Re: CellularNone
And your basis for that is...
I see this going nowhere.
Re: Moto V810
To my knowledge, you are correct. The V810 does not have mobile web access but neither did the E310.
Stop by your local store and ask about Hello2Fun and if the rep tells you about the price plans, go with the $5.99 monthly for 180 minutes. I have seen people get the $1.99 for 60 minutes or even the free plan for 15 minutes but at $0.39 a minute overage it gets to be WAY more expensive and everyone always ...
Text Messaging Error
So yesterday morning I tried to send a text message with my Audiovox 8900 and it would work. Tried again didn't work. Tried again to other people, didn't work.
So I called up my carriers technical support and asked if there was anything wrong with the system, or my account or whatever and they said everything looked fine. The tech got me to try and send her a message, didn't work. Then she tried to send me a message too ...
