Which center do you work at? I spent a year at V01 Baton Rouge and it was horrible.

I've had my Sidekick II for a week now and I'm definitely feeling the love. It's everything I want in a phone, and then some!

Sprint sent out a flyer to many customers to let them know about the program. It's also available in retail locations, if I'm not mistaken. Hatoncat's list is accurate. Just glad I could help.

Buyback Programs
Dec 25, 2004, 5:20 PM
in the Article: Cell Phone Recycling Guide forum

Mr. Lin, I need to correct you. Nextel is not the only carrier to have a handset buyback program. SprintPCS launched theirs in October. You can get up to, if I recall correctly, $75 credit when returning your old handset and buying a new one. Unfortunately, I don't have access to the details anymore. If you call Sprint and the representative you speak to doesn't know about it, either, ask them to look up "Handset Buyback" in Wizard.

Huh. That's a new one on me. What project was your center under? I just recently quit from the Baton Rouge center (SprintPCS exclusive) and we didn't have a policy like that that I was aware of. On the other hand, perhaps that's why Maximize incentives kept shrinking and then disappearing. No way in hell I'm hocking Voice Command to a customer if I'm not getting a payout for it anymore. That's one of the big reasons why I quit.

Bravo on sticking to your guns, Rich. You're a good and fair mod. Did you also ban BlueToOrange22? I haven't seen him spewing hate lately.

Dec 15, 2004, 6:46 PM

Wow. That had to be a pretty harrowing experience for you. I've had a couple of similar calls in my time at SprintPCS, and I honestly think you handled that situation the best that you possibly could have. Pity we can't listen to that call. When I was at SprintPCS, I kept a "watch list" of customers with interesting cases, or cases I had become personally-invested in. Under most circumstances, I couldn't call the customers back and check on them, but ...

Re: Exchanged Sanyo 8200s for a 4920 and 7300
Dec 2, 2004, 12:13 AM
in the Sprint forum

The Sanyo 4920 is, in my limited experience, one of the best phones in the entire Sprint lineup. I don't own one myself, but I've had nothing but rave reviews from customers. If I ever succumb to the siren song of the employee discount, I may very well get one. 7300's nice, too. Until the last couple of weeks, I haven't had many customers who have them, but they seem to be growing in popularity. That's usually a good sign.

You mention it being sold by T-Mobile and some of your pictures show it with a T-Mo logo. However, the entry doesn't have it listed as a T-Mobile offering. Is it an upcoming release?

duntrpn said: I also want to be able to access the internet on my PDA using my phone. Yeah, that part probably squicked the Sprint rep. You're not supposed to use the Vision phone as a modem. T-Mobile, on the other hand, has no such restriction. The data speed is a bit slower, but do you really need 56k speeds on a freaking PDA? 28.8 was pretty decent for basic web-surfing back in the day.

You're absolutely correct about the dropped calls issue, Sunil. The new versions of Fair and Flexible are actually really neat. I hope other providers begin doing similar things. As for customer service, BIG changes are happening. Sprint isn't tolerating being bottom of the heap anymore.

Re: Bluetooth?
Nov 22, 2004, 3:50 PM

That's a load of crap. Sprint does indeed support the T608's Bluetoth. The person you spoke to probably didn't have a clue what you were talking about, since he obviously didn't have a clue what he was talking about. Besides, we have absolutely no way of knowing whether you've used the Bluetooth or not. The function doesn't use the network at all. You should damn well be able to sync the phone with your PDA. Go with T-Mobile if it doesn't ...

CLV stands for Customer Lifetime Value, which is a measure of how much your account is worth to Sprint. A detailed and vitriolic explanation of CLV, written by yours truly, can be found here: https://www.phonescoop.com/forums/foru m.php?fm=m&ff=2&fi=128603 It should be noted that your CLV is Sprint confidential information and the company is within its legal rights to withhold it. We're told not to share this information with the customer.

I'm not going to be mean to you over this one. I'm feeling uncharacteristically nice tonight, I guess. It's company policy that we can't change your plan without renewing your contract unless you're within 90 days of your most recent contract signing. We used to be able to get away with it, but now it's being considered fraud and people get fired for trying every day. The agent you spoke to probably was trying to put you on a zero-year contract, ...

JDigital said: isn't it just an extended buyer's remorse period for new customers? From what I'm given to understand, Talk Or Walk is only available for new customers in coverage areas that T-Mobile has just recently expanded to. It does function as an extended buyer's remorse period and will go away as soon as T-Mo reaches a certain number of staying customers in each market. In all likelihood, it will not ever go to the Dallas area, rendering this discussion irrelevant.

The way I see it, Convergys hired me on January 4, a time of the year when all the stores are dropping their holiday help and it's damned near impossible to get work. On top of that, they're paying me just a little less than I was making as a casino slot-monkey and I got to pick any shift I wanted. That's a pretty good deal to me. Yeah, it's a ****ty place to work, but it pays the bills ...

Which center were you in? I'm in v01, which is the Convergys center in Baton Rouge, LA, and we're getting close to full staff again. With the turnaround, we're constantly hiring. And yeah, Premiere and P2K both use the same customer database. Usually, when we have a system outage, it's the database and not the program itself. Thus, all programs which use the database cease functioning.

Okay, folks. I'm getting my finances straight enough that I can afford to upgrade soon. I'm a heavy text and data user and I'm very interested in smartphones. I'd prefer Windows Mobile, but I really don't want to spend $500 on a phone. (Mmm, Samsung i600...) I'm currently with T-Mobile, which is why I'm posting to this forum, but I'm willing to entertain the idea of switching. I'm currently looking at either the Sidekick II or the Blackberry 7100. I ...

I've been getting pretty deep into P2K lately. The interface isn't as intuitive as Premiere, but it's not necessarily more difficult to use. It's just a lot easier to screw up an account with it. I don't even bother with it when we have an outage. I tell the customers I can answer any general questions they may have but, for any account-specific questions they'll need to call back. This always gets me dirty looks from the folks around me, ...

Ironically, we don't have it blocked from our computers at Sprint. Sure, we can't access Sprint.com to help people with questions about DSL and local home service pricing, but we can certainly get to a competitor's site. Stupid Internet blockers. I'm just happy to be on a computer with Yahoo Messenger todaay.

Re: prepare to be converged

I wouldn't worry too much if I was in one of CVG's ATTWS centers. Convergys is always getting new projects. Once AT&T's contract is up, Convergys will move a new company in, retrain you, and put your butts back to work. Maybe you'll end up on the SprintPCS project, like me. Perhaps you'll get DirectTV or OnStar or something equally new-and-different. I doubt Convergys is going to do a mass layoff of skilled workers just because of a client ...
