??? Best AT&T Phone that works good w/Ford Sync
Aug 14, 2009, 2:37 PM
in the AT&T forum

Anyone know of the best phone to get on AT&T that works great with Ford Sync system? I prefer a regular flip style phone - not iPhone or PDA. I also need to be able to get software for the phone that syncs contacts with Outlook and tethering if possible. I currently have a Nokia 6650 and although it pairs with Sync on my 2009 Ford Fusion, it does not transfer the address book so I cannot dial ...

Will the Tour support a US SIM card?
Aug 6, 2009, 1:08 PM
in the BlackBerry Tour 9630 forum

I noticed on the stats page for the Tour on Phone Scoop it listed both CDMA and GSM radio bands. Is this a typo? Can this phone be registered for say Sprint on the CDMA side and have an AT&T SIM for GSM and work at the same time? Or does it only allow CDMA or GSM one at a time? I would appreciate a reply from someone who has tried a GSM SIM card in this bad boy. Thanks!

Is this a supported feature? On my current Sprint Blackberry, there is a Sprint application that let's me tether it. The blackberry is only rev 0 or whatever speed so its only about 200K speeds. Also, any one using a Pre with a Mac? Thanks!

I paid $600 for my first RAZR back in November 2004. I simply want the coolest phone available. I don't really care if I can make calls or not.

Thanks, I just ported out of Verizon today and they are sending me a free RAZR V3 (which I know is all its worth) and a $120 Visa gift card which will pay a good portion of my ETF with ole Red. Then, whenever I'm ready, I'll just go down and get an iPhone and have a RAZR for spare. Plus, I've bundled by home phone, DSL and wireless now so I'm saving about another $10 combined ...

Isn't Prada a company that makes women's accessories? I think my mom has a Prada purse. What man is going to want a Prada phone? To match his purse? Seriously, I'm porting to AT&T and getting an iPhone.

What if I port my number over from Verizon on Wednesday and take advantage of AT&T's $120 gift card and free RAZR to bundle with my home phone and DSL service and then on Friday, buy the iPhone and renew my two day old two year agreement for the iPhone and then just throw the RAZR in the drawer for a spare? Will this work? Would I have to give the RAZR back or pay any other fee? ...

It has been said that Apple first approached Verizon about teaming up on the iPhone but given Verizon's absolutely inflexible "rule the world" attitude, Apple quickly walked away. Check out this link to a Wall Street Journal article which mentions this fact as well. http://online.wsj.com/article/SB1181 78419580134700.html?mod=googlenews_wsj An excerpt from the article: "Other handset makers face similar issues. The carrier Verizon Wireless declined to offer its subscribers Apple's forthcoming iPhone, according to people familiar with the matter. Verizon wanted it to include Verizon's ...

Well here is a link to a Consumer Product Safety Commission bulletin about the problem Kyocera had in 2004 with cell phone batteries doing exactly what the original poster described. Basically a short circuit and meltdown with possible smoke and fire hazard. I believe that this issue was possible whether the phone was on or not. From what I have read, it appears to have been an internal to the battery short circuit and the battery ...

Right on! What a crazy thought someone had. Design the network to support the needs and/or desires of the users rather than design the users to fit the network. You people are killing me with this thread. Can someone refresh my memory as to why Skype's proposal of restricting carrier restrictions is bad again?

After reading your last post, it is now clear you are a female. My apoligies. Why would anyone want to try and use a GSM phone on a CDMA network? Are you saying that a phone designed for Verizon's network, ie. CDMA, cannot work on say Sprint's CDMA network or Alltel's CDMA network or US Cellular's CDMA network or Cellular One's CDMA network (should I go on)???? How do you think roaming works? I'm really confused now. But, clearly ...

I'm not sure that I would agree with the argument that quality would go down. In fact, it probably wouldn't change much at all. The manufacturer would work with the carriers to have their hardware certified on a particular network. Much like PCs. You can by an HP, Gateway, Dell, etc. and they are stamped with a seal that they have been tested and are certified to work with Windows or whatever OS that people would like ...

No, its not stupid. Clearly, a device would have to be compatible with the network in order to use it. That goes without saying. If your GSM device is unlocked, you have a much easier time of it currently because you can just swap SIMs. However, correct me if I'm wrong, but if you wanted to use a Sprint branded CDMA phone on Verizon or vice versa, would they let you? I'm not sure ...

Jan 28, 2007, 9:37 PM

I would like to get out of my Cingular contract and if it would help anyone out, I would like to just transfer it to someone rather than pay the ETF. The advantage for the potential recepient is I would give you my lightly used SLVR L7 and my 2 year contract which is about halfway done. I also have about 4400 rollover minutes banked. I posed the question a few days ago on this forum and the ...

Is it true that I can transfer my Cingular contract to a willing recipient instead of that person starting a new line of service? Is there a fee to transfer? If I transfer, does the contract retain the bank of rollover minutes? The reason I ask is that I have a line of service with Cingular that is about halfway through a 2 year agreement. I used it for a short time where I had a requirement for their service but ...

I asked for my unlock code from Cingular and they said they would give it to me once I am out of contract on the phone. So if you are out of contract or if you paid full retail for your phone, and its Cingular branded, they should give it to you.

if it supports the bluetooth "Stereo" wireless headset? I think the PC Mag review said it does not support the stereo bluetooth and I was wondering if anyone had tried it yet? I was leary of buying the Motorola stereo headset because I bought a Motorola H700 a few months ago and it truly sucks. I've had the chocolate for a week now and it seems to be good reception. I have not noticed it to be a problem that's for sure. I would compare it to my RAZR V3c. The best reception phone I've ever had with Verizon was the Motorola V710. The only phone on Verizon that had such poor reception that I actually noticed it was my Treo 700w.

The phone is what it is. You would sign a contract to get a discounted rate plan. Just like I sign a 1 year contract on my DSL service from AT&T. I can still get service with my equipment without signing a contract but the monthly rate is higher. So, why wouldn't you sign a contract to save on your rate plan?

I would have a look at those posters in the break room. You know the ones with all the state and federal labor laws on them. They will use every available word or tactic to try and get you to work overtime without actually saying those words. Its BS.
