Do you need to have a data plan in order to use Pdanet? If yes, might this work instead:
VCAST + Pdanet = all you can eat dialup?
Currently, this is what I have with my e815 - only no Pdanet since DUN isn't disabled.

As this is not a touchscreen, I'm wondering if anyone has a feel for (or if) cut and paste works. I think this would be a major thing missing compared to the treo for those who edit documents, or copy small pieces of text around. Also, if one exists for the OS, how's the ssh client?

Phone keeps ringing...
This started yesterday:
The phone has an incoming call which I answer, only it never stops ringing, even though it says the call is connected, and I can't talk to the person on the other end. Even after ending the call, the phone KEEPS on ringing. The only way I could stop it was to turn the phone off. This happens with and without the presence of the HS810. I think previous to the HS810 there was a headset ...
HS810 functionality questions
It would appear the manual does not agree with operation of the unit so I ask:
Which profile does the 710 support, "Hands Free Profile" or "Headset Profile"
If you run down the list on pg 15-16, Dial a number works like the Headset Profile, but Redial a Number works like Hands Free Profile.
Also, I cannot put a call on hold using the HS810 as implied I can in the manual.
Lastly, is there any way to stop it from answering ...

Yes, it works over BT. Use the Mot TP820 as the model.

You guys aren't spelling it out clearly:
If it's within 15 days and the phone is in good cond, AND you didn't cut out the UPC for the rebate, you can return it to RS and go to VZ to get your NE2 discount (and a $70 rebate).

The store in Del Mar said they got the email Mon saying to sell the phone immediately, so it was out on the 9th. The store had tons of phones, whereas others I called had a limited # and they weren't selling. Not all stores created equally...
The reason they were given to start selling was that RS was eating their sales. I see...it took 2 weeks to figure that out?

Upgraded to 2.21f, still crashes when looking for the phone. So some people have gotten this to work?

I upgraded all the way to 2.21e
The desktop software crashes when it tries to connect via BT. Anyone seeing this too? USB works great.
BTW, returning my RS phone and going to VZW in Del Mar in 2hrs.

Talked to mot, they said it didn't matter if I returned the phone - I'd still be eligible. I don't know if I believe that. They also said if another person in my household had the phone, they could register. So I suppose I could hedge my bets, be the first to buy the VZ 710 on the 9 or 11th, and register that under my wife's name.

So, if exchange my RS v710 for a VZ next week, will Mot figure that out and not send the headset? Any way to know if we're among the first 710?

Sorry - didn't answer your question, created a new connection, used the Mot TP280 for my model, wiped out the init string. Which model/connection combo did you use for the dialer (which dials phone #'s for you from the contacts list)?

Disconnects the call huh, that's lame. Worthless almost. Which phone did you use, since the 710 isn't listed in the updater?
I did a 14.4k call for both my palm and notebook dialouts.

I got it to work with my T3 and my Dell D800 - both for Dialup, no file transfers. I used the Mot TP820 profile on the T3 to get the palm to connect to the phone. I haven't gotten the dialer to work though, think I need a driver from palm for that

VZW CSR just said Aug 9th
I called to have my EVDO service moved to the v710 and she couldn't do it cause the phone wasn't in their system "we don't even have owner's manuals yet." She said to call back on Aug 9 when they release the phone. This, after a long wait on hold while she talked to the higher ups in technical.
