Keypad backlight
I know this is going to sound lame, but does the keypad glow orange like the older version?
Re: SE s710a or Nokia 6230i?
Here is the only other draw back of the 6230i. At it is this, it doesn't have the 850 band. The phone really is for markets in Europe and Asia. So depending on where you live, you might not get reception. I have the nokia and I think its great. I'm in the SF Bay Area, and have no problems with reception. If you have Cingular, ask to see if they have the ...
Re: It re-sets?
I'm going to answer myself, but I figured it out. Sorry for the odd post!
It re-sets?
I have recently bought this phone and I find that it re-sets itself from time to time. Very annoying. Anyone out there have the same experience, and does anyone know how to fix it? Thanks!
Lots of Money
So as slick as this phone is, I saw it online(the 900/1800/1900 unlocked version) for $1200! No phone is worth that. I would rather buy a computer for that kind of money. Too bad, cuz I really like it. Oh well!
Almost a year
I've had the Asian version of this phone for almost a year now. I would like to say that anyone who travels overseas should look into having an unlocked phone. Makes things very cheap, instead of paying for roaming.
Anyway, almost a year later, this phone is still pretty nice. Battery life is good, camera works well, and now that ATT is Cingular, the reception is better.(ATT was very bad.)
The one thing that ...
Re: Unlocked Phone Question
If you have an unlocked phone, you have to set the MMS setting as well as WAP setting. WAP through the settings) and MMS through messages. AOL or anything else, can not do.
Now, I don't know if this is true or not, cuz Cingular tells me something different every time I ask, but the 1900 band is use on the West Coast and 850 on the East. Any truth to this? Sometimes ...
7pm nights?
Anyone know if Verizon will have the option to pay a bit more for 7pm to 7am nights? I currently have Cingular, which offers this option, but still has some problems with reception. (I'm in the SF Bay area.) Thanks!
Re: snoop video
Wrong phone. That's the 7260.
Re: SAY GOODBYE TO VERIZON
Hmmm, then why does the rest of the world use gsm and not cdma?
Really bad. The phone and the rep
So, I go into a Verizon store to see if what I read is true about this hand phone. I actually found a place that has the phone on display, and its powered up. (In SF.) So I go to open it, and the key pad is falling off! It looks like the skin of an orange pealing off. I go to the rep, and say this to him, and he says, "Oh its no big ...
A bit odd
Its a bit odd really. A friend of mine has att wireless, and has lots of dropped calls, spotty reception, and major problems all together. He plans to switch to a different service when his contract is up. He has an LG phone, through att. I have att, live not more than a mile from him, and have a Nokia phone, not through att, that I bought in Asia. I never have any dropped ...
Re: Back on the website
Odd, where do you live. I'm in the SF Bay Area, and the phone is still up.

Back on the website
Now the phone is back on the Verizon website! What's up? Did they fix stuff wrong with the phone?
Problems
Went to a third party store to see if they had this phone. While the phone looks great, and feels great in your hand, the woman said that every person she had sold the phone to had problems with it. They would call verizon, and even though the phone has its logo on it, verizon would not help out to fix or replace it. Hope they fix it and come out with another model with similar ...
Re: Can it be unlocked?
Because I travel overseas.
Re: Nokia 6230
You would need a tri band, gsm phone that is unlocked. Better to get one that is 900/1800/1900 than the ones that are sold in the states. A bit more expensive, but will work anywhere. The thing is, gsm in the states uses 850(sometimes called 800) so if you get a phone with 900, your reception won't be as good, but it will work. My advice is not to get a Cingular phone, and buy ...
900/1800/1900
Have a phone that I bought in Asia, tri-band. I currently have ATT, but am concerned that after the merger goes through that Cingular might drop the 1900 band. Any truth to this?
Re: AT&T Rep told me that it doesn't work with their service
Well, the rep is wrong. I bought this phone in Asia, and use ATT in the Bay Area, and seem to get better service from ATT than my friends who have state side gsm phones. Just make sure the hand phone is unlocked.
Can it be unlocked?
Can the gsm side of the phone be unlocked? Seems like a good idea, if you can unlock the thing.
Buggy
Friends in Asia that have the phone state that the Asian version is buggy, and tends to freeze up and re-start. Hopefully the US version does not. Anyone out there that has this phone have these problems?
Online Only?
Can one buy this phone from a Verizon store, or just online only? Thanx!
Service in General
Anyone out there from the SF Bay area can tell me how their gsm service is? Has anyone also had problems with incorrect billing? Thanx!
6630
This is an upcoming model for Asia, don't know if they will come out with it in the states or not. Check out Nokia's global site. Very nice. 1.3 megapixel, EDGE, and can record one hour of video! Who knows when they will come out with the 6230 or the 7610 in the states or not, but the 6630 seems to be a combination of them both.
Re: Nice Phone
Fairly easy. The volume control is the navigation key. Different from past models, but you get used to it quickly. The phone is a bit bigger than the nokia models in the past couple of years, so its not that hard to control the volume during a call.
Nice Phone
Very nice phone, though I bought it in Asia, and used it in Asia. The gsm network is better in Asia than the states. It also means the phone is unlocked, so if one wanted to switch carriers, you could. Or go to another country that used gsm and buy a sim card and have a local number. The phone has an easy to use menu, very nice screen, and can take great pix. ...
