Re: Using Storm as a Modem
Ditto that question...
what next?
I tried the Storm in a store the other day and I was unimpressed... I'll wait and try it again in a month or two and see if a software update helps.
But what's next for someone who wants a blackberry and isn't happy with the Storm? Are there any other RIM phones coming to Verizon?
bluetooth works!
SO I connected up my phone (VZW) to my comp, and found that I could actually send pictures to and from my phone. I could also see music files, but I couldn't send them.
I was stunned. I don't remember OBEX being available on the krzr. Can anyone else send music files?
bad battery
Hey all,
I know that many of you may be suffering with batteries that don't hold a charge after only a few months...
I just went to a VZW technician for a battery replacemnet, and he told me that the battery I had was faulty by design. He said they extended the warranty to 15 months and gave me a new one for free...
Figured I'd pass on the info.
Re: New battery
I'd go to a Verizon store and whine about how your battery failed so soon. I did that after 8 months, and the reluctantly agreed to give me a new battery free =D
But you really have to whine a lot, or they'll just blow you off...
Re: Help for my sister--had the e815 now considering the krzr
I also had the V710 and have switched to the KRZR. I think jhacker forgot to mention the biggest change - the new user interface that covers all of Verizon's new phones is horrible (as opposed to the Motorola interface on the V710 and the E815). However, since it does cover all VZW phones now, you don't have much of a choice.
I have found the krzr to be a fairly poorly made phone. I like it for the slim ...
Re: more memory
If you buy a transflash card (look at www.dealnews.com to get them cheap - they have one for $10), you will be able to select a picture/video and select "move". This will move it from the phone memory to transflash, freeing up memory on the phone. This may take a while, tho, if you have a lot of pics.
Re: Bluetooth file transfer
What kind of files are you trying to transfer? I have VZW, and as far as I know, OBEX is disabled (meaning that file transfers will not work).
When I want to transfer something, I use a usb cable and a program called BitPim. You can find instructions here. http://www.motomodders.net/
Re: Battery life.... What do i do?
If you figure something out, let me know. I've had a KRZR since the beginning of January (it's a VZW KRZR), and I currently get at most 2 days of standby. It drive me crazy.
Maybe I'll try stopping off at a VZW store to see if they'll replace it. I'll let you know if I find anything.
Re: My love with Quick2Net is hindered
Thanks so much. That explains it.
Do you have a link to a page that describes which phones do and don't work for Quick2Net? Do all modern phones no longer support quick2net?
quick2net
Hey all,
I used VZW quick2net for years after buying the mobile office kit for my V710.
However, I recently tried hooking my new KRZR up to my comp and dialing in. The mobile office software recognizes the phone, but when I try to connect, I get "error 691 - name and password do not authenticate".
I am using the following:
WinXP
Verizon Moto KRZR
Number: #777
Name: qnc
Pass: qnc
Does quick2net still work for anyone? Can anyone else help me? Thanks!
Re: KRZR K3M coming to Verizon?
Um... where did you see info about a k3m? Do you have a link so I can check it out?
Thanks!
aluminum case
Has anyone tried this case:
http://www.pcmicrostore.com/PartDeta il.aspx?q=p:10504456
It's on sale for $10 shipped and I was wondering if it's worthwhile...
Re: Quest. about alarms
Yeah, phone off = no alarm. It's too bad. I hate leaving my phone on all night...
Re: battery life?
You're right. I've seen a lot of questions about defective batteries, but no common concensus on the normal battery life of this phone. Maybe I should make my question more precise:
I am wondering how long everyone else's batteries are lasting on a charge under normal usage (and whether bluetooth is used) to get an idea whether my phone is abnormal.
If you would be kind enough to respond with a number (ex. 2 days, or 2 hours of talking), ...
battery life?
I just got a new krzr, and I have been experiencing rather poor battery life for a brand new phone. The phone tends to last under 48 hours with light usage. Is this normal? How long do your phones last on a full charge?
Thanks!
krzr defect??
I just got a krzr, but I have developed a problem. The device does not play ringtones or sounds from the menu. There is still the key beep, it will still play music, and the ringtone will still sound when it is called, but it will not play the ringtones when choosing one from the ringtone list.
The phone is 3 days old, and hasn't been damaged in any way. Has anyone else had this problem?
questions
Hey all,
Sorry if any of this has been asked before. I just heard of the VX 8600...
- I heard of some problems with the speakerphone. Is the volume the only problem?
- I read somewhere that the phone can't charge while it's on. Is this true?
- The info page says bluetooth OBEX is enabled. Can music be transfered over bluetooth? Can this music be used as ringtones?
Thanks a bunch for any answers! I'm trying to decide between the VX8600 ...
NE2 at bestbuy
Hey guys,
I saw the KRZR on sale at BestBuy for $130. I have a NE2, and I'm wondering whether it's possible to use the NE2 at Bestbuy and get the phone for $30. Anyone know?
Thanks.
Re: Alarms
So if you use TMP's method or bitpim to transfer new ringtones, you can use them?
Alarms
Hey guys, quick question.
Can you set custom music for the alarm? How?
Re: DUN
Quick2net (14.4k), National Access (1xRTT), Broadband (EVDO) etc.
Re: DUN
Which wireless connection do you use?
VZW music kit
Has anyone bought the VZW music essentials kit? Where (how) do the headphones connect? Does it include anything more than a standard usb cable? Software?
Thanks.
Re: DUN
Anyone know if there is a version of it for the KRZR? VZW asks what phone you have when you download, and KRZR isn't an option.
Re: keep in mind when posting reviews...
Yeah, but it is so much more expensive thru alltel... especially with NE2. Any suggestions?
Re: Ringtone Idea
Wait. What cord?????
Re: DOWNLOAD KRZR K1m DRIVERS!!!
Has anyone tried this yet? Does it work??
UI
I have a V710, and I'm a little apprehensive about getting a new phone with the VZW UI. Without any flaming of VZW, can I have a brief description of how different the VZW UI is / how much worse it is?
Thanks.
Re: My First Impression
Have you tried syncing it to PC via bluetooth or usb?
Re: Got my KRZR K1m TODAY!!!!!!!!!
How's the bluetooth? Outlook sync?
Re: VERIZON IS TOO SLOW
Random question. When you upgrade (NE2), do you have to turn in your old phone or do they just activate the new one?
obex
ok. So I just found out that for a while, BT obex was enabled on the RAZR and Q from VZW. I'm from the V710 era, so I'm shocked to hear such a revelation.
Does anyone know whether the KRZR will have OBEX enabled to allow BT file transfers?
Re: Other than the form factor, why would anyone get this over a V3m?
Yeah... ditto. I have a V710, and no adequate replacements seem obvious.
Ever since the advent of the RAZR, it seems that cell phone manufacturers are focusing more on form than on features. I mean, it works: no one has yet considered the most important factor for this phone - the voice quality.
And even if there were a decent phone, you can be sure Verizon would lock it down so as to eliminate the useful features.
It is growing to be ...
features??
So... a couple of questions...
1). Is the 16bit color (vs. the nicer 18 bit found on my V710) going to make a big difference?
2). Does anyone know whether this will be able to sync with a pc (eg. outlook) via USB or bluetooth?
Thanx.
screen probs - help!
I am about to go insane!!!!!
Ok, yesterday I was talking to a friend. I wanted to switch to bluetooth, so I went to the menu. When I did the phone seemed to partially open the menu, then the graphics froze. I could still talk, however, and finished the call.
When I turned the phone off and then powered it up again, the internal screen was bright white with nothing on it. In every other way, the phone works normally. The ...
Re: preferred roaming list update
Funny enough, I actually like VZW. That said, I do have a connection issue.
My ideal solution would be to make them give me service in my dead zone, but I don't know of any way to make that request...
preferred roaming list update
I was reading through the VZW site today and found this.
http://www.verizonwireless.com/b2c/d ispatcher?action=DISPLAY&item=_FAQ_TOPIC&topi cID=47
They say you should dial *228 every couple of months to update your "preferred roaming list". Has anyone done this? Is it a good idea? Does it update the firmware (and get rid of the copy option)?
Thanks...
PS. Does anyone know how to complain to VZW about lack of service in a particular area?
Cool accessory - is it compatible??
I found an awesome cellphone accessory online. It's a 4-way charger. It can charge a cell phone from AC, car, USB or a 9V battery. However, the V710 isn't listed under the compatibility chart. However, it does list T720, T720i, T721, T722i, T30, T731, V70, V300, V400, V60i, V60c, V60p, V60s, V60t, V60t color, V60g and more. Does it make sense that the V710 wouldn't work with this power adapter or is the list just outdated? Any help would ...
Re: CUstomization
No. Only inside is customizable. Sry.
Really annoying, isn't it...
