nevermind. after more investigation, i read that gmail supports both ports 587 and the standard 465 when using ssl for smtp. my problems in sending email was from incorrectly adding a domain name. i put "gmail.com" as the domain, which was causing problems. after i erased that entry and left it blank, everything started to work perfectly!

Does anyone know how to edit the port number SMTP/SSL uses? It seems that gmail doesn't use the standard default port windows mobile is using... so I can't send emails from my phone using my gmail account. please let me know if you've had success with this.

Is the battery life for real?

They advertised 4 hours of talk time, 8 days standby. But today was my first full day of use (I just got it yesterday), and the battery died at 8pm. If the phone can't last at least one whole day w/o having to re-charge, I may just have to return this. My friend said his Treo lasts a good 3 days before having to re-charge... and my friend with a blackberry said he has no problem going a whole weekend ...
