Re: Get a clue

in the Article: Verizon Offers Settlement To V710 Owners forum

Why do you rant without knowing the facts or reading other posts? VZW and BestBuy and Radio Shack all advertised that the phone will conect and transfer contacts and pictures via Bluetooth. For 3 months after I bought my phone, I was told by VZW techs and customer service on the phone that an upgrade was coming that allowed me to do this. Since the 15 days was up, I couldn't return my phone. They lied and ...

I'm sorry VZW man, I think you don't understand the business point of view. The phone was advertised to do something, whether it be by VZW or moto. It was advertised to VZW's customers. We expected features, bought the phone based on those features, and did not receive teh features we were promised. Now VZW has many unhappy customers. Now in the short term, who cares, they are locked in contract. You wait ...

How about this for closure (Sorry for the long post). This is a public V710 forum, and they can complain all they want about the V710, as long as it is V710 related. No one has the right to kick them off. Second, we all know that VZW did nothing ILLEGAL. We all know the marketing by Motorola claimed full BT capabilities, and Moto's marketing targeted VZW customers. VZW's literature makes it seem like that, but it won't be anything ...

Got my new V710
Nov 18, 2004, 2:13 PM
in the Motorola V710 forum

Got my new V710! Not sure if the bluetooth works, (I'm sure it doesn't), but the camera is much better (still crooked though). the software version is 8700_01.30.8F. I am still able to access the fileview through bitpim to get my pictures out, but funny thing is that all those annoying vzw icons don't appear in the picture gallery. They must have upgraded the software, or changed some settings while they were at the camera thing.

What if a TV made by Toshiba came with a DVR, they advertised it to you as the greatest TV ever, and they only place you can buy it from was Best Buy. But when Best Buy sold it to you, they removed the DVR so you would have to spend an additional 100 bucks to buy one from them. Motorola advertised that phone to Verizon customers. I'm in advertising, I know how it works. There are ...

But what is illegal is if they advertised that you would be able to sync your contacts with your computer over bluetooth, which motorola did before releasing the phone.

I bought the usb cable from RS, and downloaded the software from Futuredial's website, but I can't seem to install the driver? There is no install icon, I am just stuck! Can someone help out? Using Win XP.

Re: HELP WITH iSYNC PLEASE
Nov 12, 2004, 9:05 AM
in the Motorola V710 forum

Where are you with a 28k connection? Not that I am all that savvy, but isn't the slowest dial-up connection usually about 56K? Anyway, if that is the case, sorry. Currently the V710 cannot sync anything bluetooth. You can probably get the cable and make it work. The rumor is that at the end of the month, a software upgrade will be coming out to correct the bluetooth that will sync contact, but probably ...

I personally like the 710, and am holding onto it for the bluetooth. The phone scratches VERY easily, and the camera SUCKS!! The speaker phone is really good, and compared to other VZW phones, the battery is OK. I find that verizon batteries don't last as long as GSM, not sure if that is a technology thing. I do like the menu system, and i think you can buy replacement covers if it gets scratched up ...

Untouchable is correct with regards to the bluetooth. And yes we all acknowledge VZW is a greedy corporation looking to suck every dime they can from us. And yes, the 710 has its issues. I personally don't think it is something that we can sue over. The only thing you can do is not buy the phone, cancel your service with vzw and go somewhere else. That will teach them. Unfortunately, many of us ...

I've been following that thread, those are some determined pros there. You are right, if you have no experience flashing, don't try it. Good for them being able to hack the phone. Goes to show you the determination of the people, and that VZW's greed can be stopped!!

We all know it isn't a standard, but it has to do more with general public believes to be true. The general public has a perception of what Bluetooth is. On a mobile phone, it syncs to your computer to sync contacts adn transfer data. On a mouse, it connects to my computer to control the pointer. Now if I bought the mouse that advertised BT, but it didn't connect to my computer, only ...

Got a reply from customer service (from an e-mail i send a week ago): We apologize for the inconvience regarding your V710. We are working hard to put in place an exchange program for the defective V710 phones with the bad camera. At this time we are not able to release anymore information regarding this issue. There should hopefully be a firmware upgrade soon for some functions on the phone that were disabled. Unfortunately, we are not able to release ...

From VZW website: What are some of the uses of Bluetooth? Bluetooth can be used to wirelessly synchronize and transfer data among devices. The Bluetooth audio capabilities can be used for cordless telephony and headset applications. Bluetooth can be thought of as a cable replacement technology. The exact functionality provided by a Bluetooth enabled device depends on the Bluetooth profiles included (please see the Bluetooth profile section below for more details). Does Verizon Wireless offer any Bluetooth-compatible phones? We are pleased to ...

Re: WE ALL NEED TO COMPLAIN: HERES HOW
Oct 26, 2004, 2:51 PM
in the Motorola V710 forum

From what I read, the phone does implement Bluetooth, just not the profile we all expected. I guess the suit would have to convince a judge/arbitrator that Verizon knew that the general public's definition of Bluetooth included OBEX support, and Verizon KNOWINGLY did not promote disabling OBEX and tricking consumers into buying the phone, then they would be liable. But as it has been said here 100 times, the literal definition of Bluetooth has been met by ...

The VZW tech said my phone was fine?
Oct 26, 2004, 10:13 AM
in the Motorola V710 forum

I went to the VZW store to have them look at my phone to exchange it, and the camera is noticably 3-5 degrees off tilt. The tech told me that it is fine and the cameras with the tilt problem were like 45 degrees off. Anyone can confirm what the real camera issue is? He insisted my camera was fine. Also, is everyone elses camera VERY grainy when pictures are taken indoors?

Re: WE ALL NEED TO COMPLAIN: HERES HOW
Oct 26, 2004, 7:32 AM
in the Motorola V710 forum

Personally, 2 biggest complaints is that this bluetooth issue was advertised, and they did not make it clear that it would not sync contacts. Second the camera is HORRIBLE. I have the vx 6000 which take pictures 100x better. Not sure if megapixels is an issue with this regard, but in the end, class action or not, VZW will get hurt for selling such a ****ty product. Once the other carriers catch up as far a call quality goes, ...

Re: Is It Fair For Verizon To Cripple Our Phones?
Oct 21, 2004, 2:10 PM

I disagree, it probably isn't any harder than a customer having to learn to use GIN. Plus, those people with bluetooth on their computer that are likely to pair their phone is poabably a much more tech savvy customer anyway. The truth is that Verizon would loose some revenue from the GIN and MPT. (although if you really think about it, what percentage of their customer base has the 710, then on top of that how ...

If I had to guess, the Verizon type customer isn't into faceplates for the most part, therefore not a big sell point. They tried it with the timeport, not sure how that did, don't think they sold many.

Well, if it is anything like the 820, pressing and holding down the main button for 5 sec turns it on or off. To answer a call or access the voice menu, just press the button. By holding the button down during a call, it should switch the call to the handset, and vice versa. The two little buttons are for volume.

How Planned Obsolesence Backfires
Oct 21, 2004, 12:59 PM

I always have had a suspicion that they purposely used that soft plastic on the front of the phone to make the phone easier to scratch so that when your 10 months, or 22 is up, you go get a phone cause the one you have looks like crap. Well unfortunately for VZW, the phones started looking like crap 2 weeks after you bought it. Now they have to exchange all these phones because of the camera, ...
