Any Possibility of New Flip Phones???
Mar 26, 2012, 8:24 AM
in the AT&T forum

I realize I'm obviously in the minority, but I've had Iphones 3 & 4 and Androids with touch screens and have to admit I just don't like touch screen phones. I like what they can do - I just don't like the user interface they use to do it ! Is there any possibility of a "maneageable" flip phone with smart-phone capabilities coming anytime soon for the other 1 or 2 people in the world like me???

Are apps available for the Freestyle? And if so - where? Or would GETJAR be the only source?

Audio Volume ...???
Jul 28, 2010, 8:19 AM
in the HTC Aria forum

I'm really interested in the Aria but I've read some reviews indicating the ringtone volume is very low, speakerphone volume is very low, and call audio is low but can be enhanced by using the "hearing aid" setting (whatever that is). Are these issues pretty prevalent in the Aria - or were they just isolated phone issues? Thnx

Moto EM330 ...???
Mar 31, 2009, 9:53 AM
in the AT&T forum

The ATT website recently shows what is apparently an on-line only Moto Flip, the EM330. Anybody have any first-hand experience with or know anything about this unit (other than specs)? I'm looking for a decent backup and even though I've never been a Moto fan this looks like it might have some possibilities ... flip, FM, music, decent price, etc.,etc. Thnx

850 vs 900 Freq
Nov 21, 2008, 7:44 PM
in the AT&T forum

I'm AT&T - but if I get an unlocked Nokia that has 900/1800/1900 Freq's (instead of 850/1800/1900) how much trouble am I potentially in regarding reception here in the states? Most of my travel is Dallas - Chicago - Orlando and all areas in between. Thnx

AT&T Shut Out Again?
May 21, 2008, 8:34 AM
in the Article: Nokia 5310 XpressMusic To Land at T-Mobile forum

Is AT&T EVER going to get another mid-range Nokia? T-Mo is either beating them to the punch or AT&T just doesn't give a darn about Nokia's any more. Either way - after being a long-time AT&T customer and only interested in Nokia's I'm gettin' tired of waiting ...

Any New Nokias Coming ???
Mar 3, 2008, 4:47 PM
in the AT&T forum

I've been a loyal Cingular / AT&T customer for 15 years - am only interested in Nokia phones - and currently have 3 that I keep swapping out (N75 - 6230 - 6201). A 6263-type is what I'm waiting on but it went to T-Mo. Now it looks like Nokia & T-Mo have gotten together on another one very similar to the 6263. Are AT&T & Nokia still in a pi***** contest? I keep waiting and nothing shows ...

Guess I'm an odd-ball case here but I've had my N75 since June - debranded it in October and have had no reception issues due to debranding. Reception is still as good as my Nokia 6230 which has always been tops. I've got it set to GSM because I have had issues with it dropping calls when in 3G mode but other than that have no complaints. Battery lasts 3 - 4 days with "average" usage for me ...

I can't speak to the N80 or E61, but I can speak to the N75. I've had two - I returned the first one because me and it just couldn't quite get along (early release that had some issues and I - being a Symbian newb - had some issues). I waited a couple of months and got the 2nd one, unlocked and debranded it and now it's my absolute favorite Nokia of all. Symbian is great after ...

Ciliatus - be careful. Your question referred specifically to "unlocking" ... the above responses pertained primarily to "un-branding or de-branding" - which is a lot different than "unlocking". Unlocking means you can use other GSM carriers SIM card in the phone. Un-branding (or de-branding) means you get the benefits that LARUE26 highlighted.

I'm not a guru of phone operating systems, but from the 10,000-ft level I think the biggest difference is that Symbian Series 60 OS provides the capbability for true multi-tasking of applications - Series 40 does not. Series 40 3rd party applications are almost strictly Java midlets, which definitely are not as numerous and may be a little slower than 3rd party Symbian applications. In my mind relating to a PC environment, Symbian Series 60 would be similar to ...

I was one of the early adopters when it was first released. I really WANTED to like the N75 but the one I had just had too many glitches and issues so I returned it after a couple of weeks, thinking I'd wait until another release came out and try it again. I got another one about 3 weeks ago and it's quite a bit better (even though it's the sameversion of the firmware). I'm pretty well satisfied ...

Hate to disagree with you "King" but there's a BUNCH of phones that have radios ... my Nokia N75, my Nokia 6102, my Nokia 6230, the SE810, Nokia 6133, etc. That's why I'm hoping AT&T gets this one. That's why I returned my 6126 because it did not have an FM radio.

Can't answer the question. I've been trying to upgrade now for almost a year and getting frustrated because I just can't find a phone that will provide the top consistent quality (for me and my area) that the 6230 & 6102 do.

Re: Question About SE.
Jul 17, 2007, 8:01 AM

Hate to disagree but you knew someone probably would. I got the 6102 before the "i" came out and it's never missed a beat. Call-quality wise it's second only to my 6230. I've had the V3xx, 6126 and N75 and returned all of them as they couldn't match the RF and call quality of either the 6230 OR 6102 (and NOT the 6102i).

I had the exact same problem earlier this year. Your 6230 needs to be unlocked in order to work with a 3G SIM card. I only found that out by doing what you're doing - going to the forums because NOBODY in the hallowed halls of Cingular had a clue !!! I used the Nokia unlock calculator at www.gsmliberty.net/shop/nokia_unlock.php, got an unlock code (which I never done before) - entered it - and to my absolute amazement I ...

I'm confirmed Nokia user but my two Nokia's are going to die pretty soon - AT&T can't seem to replace with like kind (6126 is OK but no FM - N75 too "busy")sooooo am interested in SE810 'cause me and Motorola don't get along. Thanks for the input. Coverage would be my primary concern. My sense is I could anticipate more and broader dead spots with T-Mo than AT&T. But if that's true I don't know whether on a scale of 1 - 10 whether the reception impact is a 1 or a 10! Coverage map-wise I see a few specific differences but not to any great magnitude.

Good to hear from you 'lacrowe' ... sounds like you and I are in the same boat - want to upgrade to something different but just can't get there from here. Before I went with the 6126 and the N75 I also tried the Moto V3xx - nice phone but me and Motorola still can't get along. Everyone raves about the SE810i but I've got the local AT&T store so ticked off with buying & returning that I'm gunshy ...

If I Switch to T-Mo Will I Really Notice Any Difference ...?
Jun 30, 2007, 8:44 AM
in the T-Mobile forum

I need to upgrade. I've been with AT&T for quite awhile and reasonably satisfied. BUT - I use the FM radio functionality in my 6230 quite a bit - the Nokia 6126 doesn't have FM - I had an N75 and it didn't work real well - I want to stay with Nokia - and T-Mo has the Nokia 6133(which has FM) In addition, T-Mo's plan of 1000 min / $39.95 fits me pretty well. I'm not just "trolling" here ...
