Re: Meh (wrong!)
Once again we have mis-information posted. ANY Sprint user can use anyone else's Airave signal just fine when visting as long as they have their Airave set to 'open access' (which is the default setting).
Re: Again, they miss it!
But the Airave does have some problems that never seem to get mentioned. If you originate a call from outside the Airave range (ie down the street from your house on your way home) and then enter your house and get close to the Airave the regular network cannot make the handoff to the Airave (because it's not it's list of eligible hand offs) and as a result the call will get choppy and/or end up dropping every ...
Re: Sprint Airave
No you are mistaken. The Airave does not work that way. It does not connect to any tower at all. It connects using the internet connection which is routed to a network switch that's entirely seperate than the regular network. So in other words as long as you have your internet connection you are good to go. In my case it's DSL so I would need my landline in operation. If you have ...
Re: Huh?
Great post and I agree with you. The Airave was not designed with enough power to give great coverage once you go outside your residence or office. It's all based on what the FCC allows. In most cases you will get at least some useable signal within about a 50-100 foot radius outdoors but nobody should expect more than that. Mine works for about 75-100 feet outside in any direction before it attempts to make ...
Re: Meh
But the Sprint device works with all Sprint phones for voice and 1x data unlike the T-Mobile device which requires certain phones.
Re: Like I have been saying all along...
Another useless post by someone who is just a hater. Sprint actually has a very solid nationwide network which has much improved since the Nextel merger. They have the best roaming agreements in the business for places where they don't cover natively (which isn't a whole lot) and all features are available when roaming for free. They have probably the best high speed data network out of all the carriers.
The Airave is a great ...
Re: This is a cop out
What are you talking about? Sprint has spent the past 3 years agressively building out their network by the use of synergy sites (adding CDMA to exisiting Nextel IDEN cell sites). They have tremendously improved their network from what they use to have pre-merger by adding thousands of new towers to the network. These improvements have happened in ALL markets as well. The IDEN side of things have also greatly improved. I keep wondering ...
Re: AT&T BUYING SPRINT/NEXTEL!!!!!!!!!!!!
There's no chance of AT&T taking over Sprint. PERIOD. This is plain silly. The FCC would never allow such a merger to happen and AT&T wouldn't want Sprint anyway. Two totally different and incompatible technologies.
Re: Sprint Airave
"Sprint always has poor signal."? That sounds like a blanket statement which I think is unfair to make. Sprint has excellent service everywhere I need it and I know a lot of others who feel the same way. Why do people try to take their own personal experience or opinion and try to generalize it as being a fact? It's the attitude if it doesn't work good for me it must not work good for ...
Re: Sprint Airave
A couple of things to mention. The Airave will provide more reliable service in the event of a natural disaster such as an earthquake, fire, hurricane, etc. During such events it is very common for the regular network to become overloaded and shut down as individual cell sites max out for capacity and the switches can also become overloaded. Since the Airave uses the internet connection and a different switch than the regular network to transmit ...
Re: Hotmail on Vision, Finally!!!!
Actually Hotmail didn't work on some Vison enabled phones like the Samsung A500 and a couple of others regardless of which URL you used. When they added the MSN portal last month it finally started working.
Re: Disappointed in this forum
I hate to see this forum turn into the usenet forum. I hope the moderator will step in when necessary and ban the trouble makers.
Re: Nokia 6230
Stop trolling.
Disappointed in this forum
Just looking at some of the titles of threads on this forum I have to say it's reminding me of the usenet forum. Most topics are "sprint sucks" or "why would anyone sign up with Sprint". I prefer forums such as sprintusers or even howards where I don't have to constantly hear negative attitudes, complaints, "my carrier is better than yours", Sprint bashing, etc. As long as it remains like this it will never be a popular forum. Just ...
Re: sprint and motorola
Let's hope it's a better product than the StarTac 7867 was with Sprint.
Re: Not informing customers........
You sure that customer service isn't open 24 hours anymore? I thought that their foreign offices are still open to take calls after hours.
Re: New Interactive Tower Maps
Yes the employees get a better version that actually list apprx. on air dates for each future tower.
Re: New Interactive Tower Maps
Yep it's back again but I had to try it twice to get it to load.
Re: New Interactive Tower Maps
The tower map is no longer working as of today 11-03-03 at 6:30 PM. :(
Re: Is Sanyo coming with a non-camera phone?
The Nokia 3588i is more to my liking but it's not Vision capable. Hopefully the 6225 will make it to Sprint. Too bad Sanyo doesn't offer a model that is similar in size or looks to those.
Re: Is Sanyo coming with a non-camera phone?
Sanyos are just not sleek and stylish enough for me. The 4700 was too big and the 7200 is not something that would interest me. So everyone can make all the excuses they want about Sanyos and hype them up but I and many others I know don't like them anymore. They need some changes in looks.
Re: Is Sanyo coming with a non-camera phone?
That sucks. PTT adds size and weight to a phone so I think Sprint is making a mistake.
Re: Is Sanyo coming with a non-camera phone?
Agreed. I think it's a mistake for Sanyo to ignore the segment of the market that just wants a basic candy bar style phone without extras that make it cost more and increase the size and weight. How about a new modernized version of the great SCP-4000 they used to sell?
Re: Sony Ericsson T608 IS coming out!!
That sounds good and all but you can't necessarily believe everything they tell you because things can change in a hurry.
Re: Is Sanyo coming with a non-camera phone?
I don't mind having a camera but just want a good basic candy bar style phone from Sanyo that is good looking and small. The 4900 is too big. The 7200 doesn't impress me either. None of their phones have the sytle that the Samsungs, Nokias, etc have. I'm disappointed in Sanyo. The last phone that I liked from them was the 4000.
Re: Is Sanyo coming with a non-camera phone?
I've been hoping for a updated replacement for the 4900 but the one that's supposed to be replacing (7200 I think) it is a big dissapointment. Too bad Sanyo can't bring out a decent stylish candy bar phone without PTT or a camera.
Samsung A660
I've heard rumors that the A660 will be the first to have OTA software updating capabilities. Does anyone know if this is true?
Re: PRL 10021
The odd thing about this is that Hong Kong roaming has supposedly been available for a while now. In fact I have an old newsletter from 2001 that says international roaming is now available in Hong Kong. So why all of a sudden do they put out a new PRL for it unless maybe there's a new roaming partner now.
PRL 10021
Is coming soon and will add 800 CDMA roaming in more places as well as add some new International roaming.
