The software isn't the issue but what's funny is that they manufacturered the phones in mass amounts before all testing was done so even though they can issue software updates, they can't fix the hardware flaws before it gets into the hands of people.

Re: Will the DATA CABLE FOR THE V300 V400 V525 work with the v710???

Yes it will. If it's sold by eforcity.com then it will. Make sure it's a Data Cable only or a Data-Charger cable and not just a charging cable.

FutureDial cable will only work with FutureDial's software. It is not compatible with Motorola's PhoneTools or Motorola's P2K Drivers for using PST and P2kMan with. Check on HowardForums.com in the Motorola forum for more info on how to modify the FutureDial cable so it'll work.

Re: Tips on keeping HS810 Headset from sounding muffled?
Aug 15, 2004, 6:03 PM
in the Motorola V710 forum

I remember many people posted about this on Howard Forums in the Motorola and BlueTooth forums that if the boom is touching your face, it's blocking the sound. The HS810 does fix the wind noise issue as you can see on the new HS820 review on www.mobileburn.com - they said the HS810 is superior to the HS820 in that respect.

Ah, I tried taking apart a friends phone since he wanted to see how it looked inside and only made it through the first two screws and then had to pry the case open on the side without damage. Couldn't get the speakerphone part off so I guess that's that.

Re: Cable Connect HELP???

I knew you had the FutureDial Cable because every Motorola cable has always identified the phone as "Motorola USB Modem" in the device manager. T-Mobile has the entire Motorola Data Cable and Mobile Phone Tools 2.0 for $39.99 with a 30 day money back guarantee at their corporate stores. You just need to ask them for the V300 or V600 data kit.

http://www.howardforums.com - phonescoop is more of a discussion forum before and while a phone is out. howardforums is where the actual information is as people can post pictures among other things. Look in the Verizon forum and the V710 subforum there under Verizon as well as the Motorola forum.

Re: HANDSET SPEAKER VOLUME - SAME ISSUES THE V60C HAD WHEN FIRST INTRODUCED?
Aug 15, 2004, 5:47 PM
in the Motorola V710 forum

SEEM isn't a program. SEEM is something like hidden files in the software of the phone that you download, edit and then put back on the phone. Take a look at http://www.xlr8.us/hofo for the p2kman program and SEEM editing. I tried p2kman and it can't get the file listing of the V710 at all, it says Volume failed. On the above site, when you get the P2KMan from the author's site, you can extract the ...

I don't think there is a seem element change to make the phone ring with BT headset on since the V600 had the same problem and it took a firmware update to fix it. I still wondered how did people figure out what each bit in the seems do or what the seem range was in the first place unless someone who developed the phone leaked out the info.

Actually, it's a good idea to get them in stock but atleast you can fix the phones easier than a end-user can.

Nothing to explain.... p2kman is a file manager for Motorola p2k phones. The v710 is a p2k phone as it works with Motorola's PST. Look on HowardForums for more info on p2kman.

P2KMan doesn't work on the V710 unfortunately as it keeps saying Volume Failed. Do you have a Motorola USB Device sublist in device manager because P2KMan uses the P2K drivers which is used by Motorola Phone Service Tools (PST) and that's different than the Motorola USB Modem that's used by Mobile Phone Tools and other FaxModem software. If you read my message, I said I was only successful in doing it on the V80 but not the ...

Aug 15, 2004, 9:25 AM

It's supposed to be that way because when you remove the two T6 Torx screws under the battery cover, that is the bottom part to squeeze to disassemble the phone. Mines doesn't do that though but I know someone else's that does.

Re: speakerphone with phone closed
Aug 15, 2004, 9:23 AM

The mic is the little hole but if you look on the right side of where the data cable goes, the opening does make it back there. So the mic is really between the inside where the hole is and outside of the phone and if the voice can get in on the small opening on the side of the right hand side of the bottom port, then it might work. I don't think I'll use the ...

Re: Cable Connect HELP???

Actually, even if you don't run all the updates. It will still detect as a Motorola USB Modem in the device manager. MPT using it will require all the updates but the driver portion will work fine.

Not really. There are two BT200's. One has the adapter and one doesn't. The BT250 has a longer battery life than the BT200 but the range is not as good as the signal output is lower as confirmed by several people on HowardForums. The BT200 is just a upgraded model of the regular BT200 without the adapter.

The Motorola isn't that bad for the volume but I have the Jabra 200, and both the Moto 810/820. The thing with the Moto is that it doesn't seem very secure on the ear since it seems like it can fall off if you run while the Jabra is more secure on the ear.

Nope, Cingular Wireless has 14 days to return for a Full Money Back guarantee. Make sure you goto a Cingular Wireless Corporate owned store and not a reseller since Cingular resellers actually has Cingular Wireless as the stores name too.

Aug 15, 2004, 9:02 AM

Me too. That's what it says on my receipt too but somehow I guess he put in 1 year instead of 2 year as both vzw website and CSR on the phone confirmed that I have a one year contract now and still have New Every Two listed as a feature.

Re: HANDSET SPEAKER VOLUME - SAME ISSUES THE V60C HAD WHEN FIRST INTRODUCED?
Aug 15, 2004, 9:00 AM
in the Motorola V710 forum

It's not a wiring issue but a software issue. Even on the V80-V600 GSM phones, they have the same issue but luckily, people can run p2kman and hex edit the SEEM files for the volume controls among other things. The default is 1 but the number can go up to 8. The setting that is accessible on the phone from 0-7 would only be 7 opening the full volume of the software setting's number so 7 ...

Re: phone going from digital to analog to digital and back, all the time
Aug 15, 2004, 8:48 AM
in the Motorola V710 forum

I think you need to look at the phone again. The Analog only option isn't to turn the Analog off. It's to turn the Analog on so that your next call will be Analog instead of Digital. Motorola phones have always been this way since the StarTAC ST7760. That function is to use Analog for the next call in a digital area as sometimes you may get a poor digital signal. If you had ...

I completely agree with you since as consumers, we have a right to complain when a product is not as good as advertised. The T720 was a piece of crap, compare the V710's volume to a V60c/i and you'll see that the V710 is really low on volume which would be easy to fix if p2kman would work on the phone. As for the camera, it should atleast be decent since it's not a 5MP camera but it should ...

Yeah but that's different. Remember I'm on a 2 year contract and I actually did the NE2 on the 26th month of a two year contract and they renewed my plan for 1 year and not two but I got it on the NE2 $100 discount and then my current plan still shows the NE2 as a feature. When I did my NE2 in 04/2002, I was actually on a one year contract too except I was ...

Re: speakerphone with phone closed
Aug 15, 2004, 7:14 AM

the mike is not really on the inside since the sound can still make it back to the inside from the slits where the charging port is. Since if the speakerphone will work with the phone opened when the speaker is being sealed by the surface of the table, etc and still works, the mic will work too.

Any ideas what's causing p2kman not to work on the V710? It uses the same drivers that PST installs.

Re: FREE WAP?

Unlocking? The phone is already unlocked as it is. It's not Service Provider Locked at all as you can use the phone on Alltel if you wanted to. GSM phones are only provider locked so you can't use another provider's SIMs. The other thing is the browser lock which is in this case as the VZW is a locked setting but you can still add new entries so it's not locked either.

Re: Think I found the problem

There is only one device that will show up even for systems running correctly, Motorola USB Modem which is for Mobile PhoneTools, Windows and other Modem/Fax software. When you use p2kMan or Motorola's PST, it will deactivate the Motorola USB Modem and then a USB Composite Device will show up under USB Controllers then there will be the Motorola USB Devices and a bunch of devices.

Re: 2 questions: RF meaning + compared to Audiovox reception?
Aug 15, 2004, 6:21 AM

RF = Radio Frequency which is basically any device that uses radio waves but when people discuss RF, they are talking about signal level, the higher is usually better since that means the signal is stronger.

Ability to delete pre-loaded pics isn't that hard. As soon as P2KMan which uses the Motorola PST Software drivers can read the file directory on the V710 like it can for all other Motorola phones.

It's not really a feature code. If you can grab a America's Choice brochure, there is a page that lists it on the bottom. It's called the Get It Now Value Packs. There are three prices and I will list them... Get It Now Camera Packs: $7.99 - 20 Pix/500 Txt $9.99 - 20 Pix/500 Txt/Mobile Web $14.99 - 40 Pix/500 Txt/Mobile Web then there is the: Get It Now Packs $7.99 - 500 Txt/Mobile Web $9.99 - 750 Txt/Mobile Web $14.99 - 1,500 Txt/Mobile Web Make sure ...

It's far easier to just head to T-Mobile Corporate Store and ask for the V600 data cable kit which includes both the Motorola Cable and Mobile Phone Tools for $39.99. You even have 30 days to return it if you don't like it.

Re: CAN ANYBODY DELETE THE PRE-LOADED PICTURES???

Nope, PST is not for stuff like that. PST is more for flashing the phone. P2KMan is what's used for P2K based phones.
