Apple would much rather withold technology so they can release an incrementally better device (the iPhone 4G) a year down the line, forcing everyone to upgrade; it's their modus operandi.
And the line about current 4G technology not being able to fit in the iPhone housing has to be total bullshit. It's hard to believe a company so "innovative and cutting edge" couldn't manage to fit an antenna into their phone.

Wow... just wow... You're serious? That phone was complete garbage; underpowered, unsupported, poorly constructed. The Pre was a mediocre idea at best, gone horribly wrong.
Sprint offers plenty of non-4G smartphones: Blackberry, Intercept/Transformer, Optimus S, etc. All of these phones now need the extra $10 fee.
This is a huge mistake on Sprints part.

Verizon has the larger mobile to mobile network, but any Sprint plan with data gives you unlimited calling to any network.
Also, Verizon's early annual upgrade is only for the first line, whereas Sprint gives you a discounted annual upgrade for all additional lines, on top of a FULL upgrade for the first line.
And as far as LTE networks, neither carriers have good coverage anywhere. Let that play out.
