WHat if you already have 4G unlimited from the beginning on an individual account?
Can I still be able to keep it, you think, since I opened my account with them as a 4G customer. I would hope they'd let me keep my existing plan if they want us to be their customer.
Also, even if they force us to a data share plan, who will I share it with? I am only one device and one account.
Re: not coming to north america?
Prolly cuz it has to go thru the carriers, who'll undoubtedly try to figure out how to sell this with a tethering fee in it somehow.
LTE on prepaid account
Does anyone know if I could get LTE data on a prepaid sim on a supported smartphone?
Re: Just more evidence
Does this really surprise you?
Re: ding dong the deal is dead...
I'm pretty sure some fanboys think that it could.
I read somewhere that not having the iphone led to T-Mobile losing a lot of customers than other carriers. Of course, other reasons factor into T-mobile's situation.
Re: If it fails, T-Mobile gets a nice breakup package
I read somewhere (found it), that AT&T could probably avoid the breakup fee if the deal fails. Knowing AT&T, this would not surprise me. Either way, should be interesting to see where this heads...

Re: ding dong the deal is dead...
If they had it long before vz got it, then they probably would have retained more of their customers.
Re: ding dong the deal is dead...
That maybe, but they'll fight to the bitter end.
However the outcome, it seems tmobile will be in a worse off situation than before the merger announcement in March. If only they had the iphone....
Re: i still only have 2g edge!
I agree that all carriers need to get better coverage, but I'd rather AT&T spend their money to expand their LTE coverage, but on a widescale basis instead of getting it only to certain metro areas.
They need to get LTE to all of their native footprint, rural or otherwise.
I believe, however, that the transition from 1xRTT to CDMA-EVDO was easier than from GSM to W-CDMA. Someone correct me if I am wrong.
Re: i still only have 2g edge!
I thought transition from CDMA to LTe required new hardware, so it would be no different from W-CDMA to LTE.
Re: Can't anybody get it right!!!!!
CONCLUSION:
There is NO perfect phone out there, yet.
Re: Translation:
or everything is fine the way it is.
stop saying iphone or nothing. people still use android and, gasp, regular non-smartphones.
Re: why not just get it over with!
probably cuz they havnt made up their minds yet.
and stop whining.
Re: Why?
We don't, but there may be issues with existing phones (hardware limitations, carrier/manufacturers not willing to spend resources on the updates) that will make us not see ICS. However, since android releases have calmed down to about 2/yr, it should probably be easy to update phones without the fragmentation issue.
Re: I dont think this phone will get ICS.
I agree with ya, ICS will most likely be a no show.
Unofficially though, there will be plenty of options. I wish carriers would agree for swift updates for atleast 2 years on their phones (to reflect contract length).
Re: Why?
I'm sure it will be backward compatible for the most part...
Re: I applaud this!
Well, I guess that could work, but sometimes my cable modem can be very slow or really fast depending on when.
I think a simple solution would be to tell what tech it is, and the expected speeds (and guarantee those speeds, most importantly). That's what I liked about Verizon, when they mentioned the range of speeds to be (5-12mb down and 2-5mb up), as opposed to AT&T, who's just saying, and I quote, "its 10x faster". 10x faster than ...
Re: I applaud this!
Vote?
Re: I applaud this!
I agree as well,
although I'm still unsure if customers (the average ones atleast) will still understand anything about LTE, HSPA, speeds and such.
Re: Talk and Surf
Nope. CDMA does not allow for simultaneous voice and data. Unless if you're on wifi...
Re: T-mobile HSPA+
I read somewhere that Cincinnati Bell supposedly released the specs for the iphone 5 (or 4S). If its true they're carrying it, then that version should work on T-Mobile's hspa network.
Of course, that still doesn't mean (or make it) that T-Mobile will carry it, in which case, you gotta fork out the money.

Re: and google should mandate nfc
I'll stick with cash and a wallet.
Just worrying about security...
Some of us still pay for minutes
and by revising the rules, our minutes would be wasted, not to mention even if we didnt answer, our phones would still ring, a lot, and make it more annoying.
Re: i wish phone manufacturers
If it's an AT&T LTE phone, it will list support for 700 and AWS bands on LTE. it does for their data cards.
Besides, AT&T's will have GSM support
Re: NO.
gorramn?
Re: Hamton Roads Va
There are lots of areas that still don't have it. I believe Richmond still hasnt got LTE yet, so it will still be a while before EVERYONE gets LTE.
Re: This is precisely why I'm with Verizon
Well Verizon had to upgrade anyway, since EV-DO is a lot slower than HSPA.
I want bubble buttons back.
I loved that feature so much, compared to 3D maps and such.
Infact, i feel like Im stuck at 4.7 version just to keep it.
Do you hear me google?
Re: Cincinnati Bell
Can't you tell by the name?
Basically, they provide native cell service in the cincinnati metro area and dayton oh. Plus phone service in the cincinnati metro.
Yea, i guess most have not heard of them. I do know they use AWS for 3G, (or I guess its 4G now), so they'll roam of t-mobile.
Good phone but...
with t-mobile on the acquisition block, why can't they make this phone with support for AT&T 3G bands?
Or is t-mobile betting that the merger will be blocked?
All I am saying is don't (start) screwing customers t-mobile.
This from a former t-mo customer.
Re: To what end?
By showing those TV ads?
Like that guy watching TV on his cab, or that DMV commercial.
My question is, how many minutes of TV I can watch before the 2Gigs are up?
Of course, I am not buying it. (either the phones or the ads).
Re: Seems
I agree, they'll use population stats instead of land area stats.
Still, why don't they finish covering the country with 3G?
Re: but does it rollover??
Seeing how they don't allow rollover on current data plans...
HIGHLY UNLIKELY.
I wonder if shared data plans max out at 2GB too, them thinking it would be enough.
Re: Who gives a dammm...
Haha lol.
I guess there will never be an app for that...
Re: Wow!
We got it man. We got it.
Re: rooting & data question
You cannot prevent what the carriers see on their side. If they see you use a lot of data, they may assume you are tethering.
Re: *228
Since the thunderbolt uses a SIM card, it doesn't have the *228 functionality. When the phone restarts, it automatically updates the PRL, if thats what you want.
Re: Why??
It's interesting that I still see ads for T-Mobile mocking AT&T.
Re: Yeah there is,
Isn't there an app for EVERYTHING?
By that definition, the iPhone should be infiniteG.
Re: Another Sprint Spin opportunity
No 4G where I live.
And yes, I live in a city.
