No worries, the point wasn't to get into an argument. I am holding the phone right now, and have read a number of articles that state that it's made mostly of various alloys. I was just trying to answer skyjet's question.

I was simply answering a question and you got on my for not know what I am talking about. Here's a quote from Mobile-review .com "The unique feature of the phone is its material. The plastic is almost absent in the construction; different alloys are predominated. The material pleasantly cools the hand; it is not a common used sputtering, but the real alloy. The phone is made of metal and has the smallest dimensions, first of all the depth. ...

Made of aircraft aluminum. Found the info in various places. Not so ridiculous.

One more thing, the specs specifically state that it has a metal finish. That's metal finish, not metallic finish. Metallic finish would mean that it appeared metal. Metal finish means that the finish is metal. Have a great day gboy.

Did I do something to offend you, or are you naturally a jerk? I own the phone, and am looking at it right now. Do you own one?

Thanks Jay, but we were talking about editing the phone number on backup assistant on the internet. When you try to update your number via that internet on Back-up Assistant, there is no option for inserting pauses.

Actually it appears to me the the battery cover is the only part that is plastic. The chasis is definitely metal, probably aluminum. I know plastic, and this definitely is not.

When you look up your contact, scroll right and left and you will see the icon change. For example, if Joe Blow has three numbers: Mobile, Home and Work. Look up Joe Blow in your contacts (you don't have to open it). The icon on the right will be one of the three numbers, if you arrow right, you will see the icon change to the next number on the list, and so on. Does that ...

You can add up to something like six number and an email address to each contact. Go into your contacts, choose one and then edit. Scroll to the type of number it is, i.e. mobile, mobile 2 home, etc.... You can also add a number to a contact by just dialing it and choosing "store" and then "update existing". You then choose the contact you want to add it to. when you look up your contact you ...

BTW, thanks for the "Back-up Assistant" info. How did I not know this exists? Just signed up for it and backed-up all my phone numbers. It is great and well worth the $1.99 a month. My Verizon bill is about $600 a month, $602 gives me huge peace of mind. Thanks again.

Hey, my pleasure. Actually, a lot of the people on this site, bitching and moaning about what this phone does and doesn't do are the minority. Most of the people that will buy this phone and love it don't even know a site like this exists. But you know what they say, "Meet frequently with those people that have vastly different points of view than you." Glad I could help with the phone and your PowerBook.

Hey Scott, First, let me say I've read your reviews and some of your forum replies, and I completely agree with your points of view on the fact that this is a phone, not an MP3 player or camera. Once your phone is paired with your PB, click on your bluetooth icon in the menu bar at the top of the page, then choose "browse". When the window opens up, make sure "phone" is chosen under device, then double click ...

I bought mine at a Verizon store and have successfully paired it with my Powerbook. As far as what OBEX is, I am not sure the extent of the ability to exchange files, but I have successfully moved pictures from my Mac to my phone using the built in Bluetooth File Exchange program. The application window also has folders for Audio, mixedmedia, picture, ringtone, video and vst. Is that what you were asking about?

Re: Reception
Dec 16, 2005, 10:15 PM
in the Motorola RAZR V3c forum

It was with Verizon. Verizon's coverage is unbeatable in my area. The 650 does a lot, but is the essence of mediocrity. Call quality marginal. Palm software is good. Bluetooth is horrible and what's the use of bluetooth if you have to dial from the phone and not the headset. The keys on the Razr are enormous compared to the tiny buttons on the Treo, and finally there is the size factor. I now ...

Re: Reception
Dec 16, 2005, 4:18 PM

I had a Treo 650 and got the Razr because I actually wanted to simplify my life. The Razr's reception kicks the Treo's butt. I still catch myself walking to a different part of my office when I get a call, just because I could get good signal strength from the Treo. Now I don't have to worry about where I am in the office.

I can help you with question #2. I know this may seem odd, but go to the GIN screen by pressing the right arrow key. Opt 1 is "Get Tunes & Tones", then scroll to the tone you want to erase and press the left soft key "Erase".

Re: No Razr Complaints

I completely share your point of view. I have been using cell phones for 20 years and they keep doing more and more and more. My last phone was a Treo 650, and it did everything. Granted it didn't do it well all the time, but it did everything but wash my car. I recently decided that I just wanted to have a phone again that I could fit in my pocket. The Razr is perfect! ...

First you have to clear out speed dial #2 so you can put Kathy in. Go to the speed dials menu, scroll to #2, at the bottom of the screen you see "move". Press the middle button and the screen will jump to the next empty speed dial. The option at the bottom of the screen now says "set". press the button. You have now free'd up speed dial #2 to put Kathy in there. As ...

To change the speed dials, go to the Main Menu, that should take you right to the screen labeled "Contacts". Option 4 is Speed Dials. This will list you contacts in order of speed dial address. In order to move them around, you just highlight the number you want to free up and press the menu button which is the "move" key, follow the prompts. Then go to the contact that you want to assign ...

If your situation is like mine, you will run into that sync error again. I think you start to have issues when you start to enter more and more info on your Treo. I don't sync too much with my Mac anymore, as the Treo 650's memory is not dependent on battery strength. If you run into this problem again, instead of doing a hard reset, do a warm reset. This will solve the sync problem without ...

I switched from WS to Versamail and like it a lot better. You can set up multiple email addresses, and it has filters as well. I think it's much more user friendly. The newest version of Versamail is available on the set-up disc you received with your phone.

I do technically have a corporate account, but it's only six phones, and I only ordered one 650. The price was $499 plus tax without a contract.

BE CAREFUL! If you are going to retrieve email on your phone, I would suggest getting the data plan. The KB really start to add up. You use a lot more than you think. I don't do a ton of emailing on my phone and I would have been screwed had I not gone for the unlimited plan.

In addition to what CarolW said, you can add commas for timed pauses. For example, on my Voicemail favorites button I added three commas then #, then my password, then pound again. I set the button to "dial digits automatically" This way I just press "1" and wait. Next thing I hear is "you have___ messages"

That's odd that you should post this question. I am on VZW and just switched from their wirelesssync to Vesamail, and it's amazing how much better it is. I have had not problems with mine, but then again, I am with VZW. What version do you have? The one released with the VZW phone is version 3.0.

I have service through VZW. Timing is everything, as I kind of had to do both at the same time. Go to the Bluetooth application. Make sure Bluetooth is on and your phone is discoverable. Go to Setup Devices at the bottom of the screen. Then go to "Hands-free Setup" and walk through the steps. I had to go through it a couple time to time it so that the car was trying ...

I don't know if this will help, but I was just able to pair mine with my Acura. I haven't given it the full test drive (sorry for the pun), but so far it seems to be working fine. One thing I think you need to do though to make calls is make sure the screen is on and the keyguard is unlocked because you car won't be able to dial unless the phone is on and ...

Well that sucks. I have the TL and was looking forward to using the handsfree with it. I had the 710 for about a month and that bluetooth was so crippled that it only worked intermittently. I assumed that since they did not cripple 650 it would work. Oh well. :(
