I think his point on letter dialing has more to do with dialing names in company directories, not with calling 411 to get the main number in the first place. For that reason alone, I opted not to buy the "Q". I need to do this daily and I don't need a hassle trying to remember what letter goes with what number while I've got important issues in mind.

Re: Dialing commercial phone numbers with words

I just posted a question about this very point. In my line of work, I call businesses with employee directories every day. This is the dumbest design flaw I’ve seen in a while. How can anyone expect to use this phone while thinking about important issues for call you are about to make, while at the same time recalling from memory that the #7 key is also P,Q,R,S. It’s ridiculous. I’m sure the bright ...

How do I dial letters in automated phone systems?
Jun 18, 2006, 7:38 PM
in the Motorola Q forum

I'm trying to figure out how to dial letters when calling into automated phone systems, such a as searching for a last name on a phone system. Since the number keys on a regular keypad have corresponding letters (e.g. #2 is A, B, C - #3 is D, E, F), how do I get the "Q" to dial the correct letter without memorizing the scheme? Since the "Q" keyboard's numbers don't list the corresponding letters, this is difficult. Also, ...

I don’t get humiliated because I know what battles to fight and how to win them. I never said I was going to sue anyone. I don’t throw any money away, ever: especially not on products or services. And defiantly not on employees who are simply not up to performing properly. Lodging a complaint with an Attorney General is not a suit. If enough complaints are lodged, and there is a greater public good for ...

If you want to play lawyer, go to law school. If you want to be a good lawyer, go to an excellent law school. The “fine print” isn’t worth the paper it’s printed on. The “illegal practices” you mention as being investigated by the FCC and the “state” is the Attorney General as far as the state is concerned - FYI. Those “illegal practices” may be subject to a suit at anytime by anyone injured ...

It’s that type of response, from ignoramuses like you, which cause customer service centers to totally lack in quality. If customer service reps, or sales people share your attitude, no wonder things don’t get done right. If you should ever be fired from your job for poor performance, or having a bad work ethic, don’t be surprised. I know you wouldn’t last a day working for me. Your simple response shows a complete lack of ...

Customer service is a joke

I’ve had Verizon for about 2 years, but decided to give Cingular a try for a comparison. I have a V710 with Verizon and my wife has an older LG, both tri-mode phones. I’ve also had a Motorola 120e and an Audiovox 8900. No complaints about any of the phones. All have good reception, clarity and features. I like the choices of Cingular’s phones over Verizon, but soon found that beauty is in the ...
