A Verizon exclusive?
Who the hell still does exclusives in this day and age?? And why???
Re: Okay
VoLTE is testing and the stock has been above $5 for some time now.
Re: Project Fi...
Yeah, sure. Never heard that before...
Regardless, they're around now which makes that biased statement in the article "essentially" bogus.
Project Fi...
Is essentially T-Mobile? How odd, I wasn't aware that Sprint and US Cellular suddenly ceased to exist.
"Now"?
Lol Sprint Global Roaming has featured free international 2G data for quite some time.
Re: If you have Sprint why not do this...
What do you mean? Amazon charges $10.99 per month for Prime. Sprint charges $10.99 per month for Prime. Where is the dollar more?
De-priortization, NOT throttling
Is Quality of Service the same as throttling?
No. With throttling, when you hit the applicable data threshold, your wireless data speed is reduced for your entire cycle, 100% of the time, no matter where you are. With QoS, your data is de-prioritized only when and where network resources are constrained.Once network resources are no longer constrained or you move to a non-constrained location, your speed will return to normal.
Just FYI
Those that don't wish to pay $30/GB for higher speed data can choose Sprint Global Roaming instead of Open World and get free unlimited data at ~2G speeds.
Re: 100 Megabits ?
The press release that the site links to states 100 Mbps or more which the author conveniently omitted. And Sprint users have reported speeds well in excess of 100 Mbps with carrier aggregation.
Re: Good first step, but feeble

This isn't much less feeble than AT&T's response to T-Mobile's rollover data.
10 or so countries? T-Mobile has 120ish?
Fifteen countries actually and as you noted, it's a first step.
Re: So if im reading this correcty...
You can do Easy Pay or you can indeed pay full price and be on Sprint, not Boost.

For filing a complaint in 2014 over things which happened in 2012 and T-Mobile announced they would refund in 2013. And which, for all we know, other carriers are still doing.
Um, no. AT&T, Sprint along with T-Mobile agreed to stop premium SMS billing in November 2013: http://goo.gl/Vfp2Ox
T-Mobile only started their refund program last month, probably because they caught wind that this lawsuit by the FTC was coming.

Yeah, they sure are. Just now talking about HD voice and international wifi callings? Those services have been available on other carriers for quite some time now.
What carrierS (plural) has international wifi calling been available on for "quite some time now"?
Re: I Love How T-Mobile Dictates All The Terms!
Well for one, this alleged deal wouldn't be a "hostile" takeover attempt. Two, T-Mobile wouldn't be dictating anything, it would be Deutsche Telekom. Third, all this article mentions is what DT allegedly wants, not what they've "dictated". Rest assured, there are conditions that SoftBank "wants" as well. They're negotiating (allegedly), not dictating.
Yeah, right...
"This change is about simplifying wireless for everyone, including employees of small and large companies alike," said T-Mobile CEO John Legere in a statement. "It's simple, clear and transparent – like everything we do."
What a load of crap.
It's much more likely that the shareholders have decided that they're tired of the uncarrier  being unprofitable and this is one way to pinch some pennies. We shall see how affected customers react.

I know, right. Some of these clowns crack me up. They just read a headline and jump to conclusions without bothering with any pertinent details. I suppose the sheeple of this day and age don't realize that being ...
Re: High Frequency first?
Their LTE is currently on the PCS G-block, not D-block actually.
Re: A 15:1 ratio?!?
Perhaps with macro cells it's not finacially possible. However, using small cells in dense urban and possibly even suburban areas may make it more palatable.
More than one device
Eric, Sprint actually sells two hotspot devices with the 2.5GHz spectrum on board-the Novatel MiFi 500 and the Netgear Zing. They also sell a USB device with that spectrum on board, the Netgear 341U.
Re: Verizon iPhone 5S: Can it Talk and Surf at the same time?
The iPhone does not support SVLTE (simultaneous voice & LTE) so no, the Verizon and Sprint iPhones cannot talk and surf at the same time even when there is 4G coverage.
Re: To bad it's Sprint
Who knows? Maybe they're busy using their phones. FWIW, my coverage on Sprint isn't horrible. Quite the opposite; it works where I need it to. YMMV.
Re: Happy, happy, happy.
Original offer was $2.97/share. The final purchase price is $5.00/share so definitely not 4x the original offer; hell, not even 2x. Still a good deal for all involved though.

If you're talking about 800MHz SMR on CDMA 1x, then almost every phone Sprint has released since the Evo 3D supports it. If you're referring to LTE on 800MHz SMR then no current handsets support that. There will be three or so hotspots/USB sticks that support 800MHz LTE coming out ...
Re: Good riddance!
So many flat out wrong statements in this post, it's not even worth trying to correct. Seriously, dude, go do some research before spreading all of these falsehoods.
Re: when does 800 mhz CDMA start?
Nope, in fact Puerto Rico is the one place where 800MHz CDMA hasn't gone live yet. Plenty of places where 800MHz is showing up. Chicago, Indiana....Best place to check for info on the subject is S4GRU.com

when do we finally get to use the 800 ESMR function on our phones?
It depends on what area you're in. Some folks already have been using 800MHz CDMA and have been doing so for months now.
Re: lte on 800 mhz
No. There is no firmware update to enable 800MHz LTE on any current Sprint handset.

Re: Hmmmm....
Even if the BoD were to prefer the Dish offer, the Clearwire bylaws still prevent a sale without Sprint's approval which they almost certainly wouldn't give. Ergen certainly could attempt to buy up all of the outstanding shares, but he's said that he would only do that if he can buy enough to give him 25% ownership or greater AND be able to appoint three members to the Clearwire BoD. I don't see Sprint agreeing to that either. ...

Well Sprint scored higher in customer satisfaction than T-mobile in the latest ACSI study so maybe T-Mobile's customers put up with way, way too much...
Re: Homeless people rejoyce
The problem with Clearwire's deployment was site density. With Network Vision, Sprint will have the ability to put 2.5GHz on every Sprint cell site, not to mention the possibility of small cells.
If you think the Clearwire spectrum is so worthless, why is that Sprint, SoftBank, Dish and Verizon Wireless have all shown interest in it?
Re: Oh Sprint.
Yeah I can only get 2 Mbps with my Sprint 3G service. What a shame...
At any rate though, you folks must not invest in the stock market. If you did, you probably would understand the concept of due diligence. Their BoD has a duty to the stockholders to consider any and all offers which may maximize shareholder value. To not at least look over and consider Dish's offer would be malfeasance.

Maybe it is not US Cellular who changed, maybe it's Apple who offered more reasonable terms......the originals terms Apple offered would have basically bankrupted US Cellular....
It's highly doubtful that Apple is the one that blinked when USCC is the one that's hurting.
And how do you know what the original terms were between Apple and USCC?

Nah, they don't throttle. The 6-8 Mbps figures are their estimates based upon a fully loaded network. Under promise, over deliver. Besides, what can't you do on a smartphone with 6-8 ...
Re: Who is most interested in this real estate?
Assuming that their merger with metropcs gets approval from shareholders, t-mobile will also have "plenty" of spectrum. In fact, I believe that it's been mentioned hat they would have more spectrum per subscriber post-merger. There's no reason for them to get any preferential treatment.
Looks fierce
