Re: Unlock code for the PPC 6700

The unit itself would not be "locked". What you would need is the Master Security Code (MSL n the Sprint world) to get into the programming of the device. The previous carrier of the device will have this info. Once you are in programming, you will need to change the SID number and a few other settings within the 6700 to reflect the new carrier's info. Once that is complete you will need the PRL (Preferred Roaming List) for ...

Re: why does voice quality suck on the 700wx with sprint?
May 23, 2007, 11:21 AM
in the Windows Mobile Professional forum

This is most likley the codec used by each carrier to encode your voice. To put it in non technical terms, you voice needs to be converted to 1s and 0s to send it through the network. And when it does this conversion, it uses what is called a CODEC. How your voice sounds on the other end, is a direct result of how well it was encoded. The higher the quality, the beter it sounds. Unfortunately, when it ...

Falis to recognize MP3 files

Just curious if anyone else has experienced the same or similar. My 6700 has stopped recognizing MP3 files. I can play wav files without a problem. I figured I would throw my feelers out to see if any experienced this to find a root cause. I will probably do a hard reset and start from scratch... - Rukshan

Hi ~ the two questions you asked have similar answers. Here is a list of the Operating systems sorted by their age (newest on top). So the closest you can get to Windows Mobile 5 (WM5), the more compatible it will be with your device. Windows Mobile 6 (Recently released) Windows Mobile 5.0

Hmmm... almost sounds like your phone would try and sync the time with the cellphone network. Perhaps the site you are registering off has the time setup wrong ? TIP : Check other phones in the immediate area. If they are also off, then it HAS TO BE coming from the network. However, my 6700 did NOT update the time from the network. My Samsung 9000 did minutes after I ran the script for our wireless network Sunday morning.

YES ! I agree with Chocolateman. Are you SPRINT or VZN. I am with SPRINT so I cannot confirm this, but I am under the impression that the VZN version of the device (VX6700) is picturemail capable out of the box. When I bought by (SPRINT) 6700 (about a year ago) I was very dissapointed that it did not have picturemail. I soon setup my GMAIL account and emailed my pics and videos. But I started thinking how the VX6700 ...

From a Technical standpoint : YES IT IS DOABLE. Both carriers use the same phone From a RED TAPE standpoint : NO. Both SPRINT and VZN use a billlng/provisioning system that recognizes each phone on their network by the ESN. So when you try to activate a phone, the system knows, the make, model by just typing in the Serial Number. SPRINT and VZN will NOT add a "third party" phone into their network. Correct - it "SHOULD" be that way. The only way VZN would be able to KNOW how much data you have used, would be to send that data THROUGH their network. Once you connect to a WiFi access point, they cannot see/know what you are sending/rcving or how much of it. The sales rep was obviously not very knowledgable on the product. Keep in mind though, if you look at the AMOUNT of total data transfer on your phone ...

Oh yes. Make sure you get the firmware upgrade if you go with SPRINT. Your ROM version should be 2.06.00 WWE / ExtROM Ver should be 2.06.03.WWE. This upgrade was initally released (by SPRINT) to stop the never ending AIRPLANE MODE - where the phone would, at random, turn the radio off and be just a PDA. The upgrade also added voice dialing and a few extra bells and whistles... If you just rcvd your phone, chances are they did the ...

First off, if you have SPRINT, PICTURE MAIL is NOT an option on this phone. Meaning, you are not able to SMS pictures to other phones. You will have to attach the picture to an email and send it to the other device. I have my GMAIL account setup and use that to mail out pictures. So basically YEAH - IT IS A PITA :)

Sorry, I should have answered both questions together - oops !! Install Activesync 4.1 (or higher) on your desktop and do a sync. It will ask you what you want to sync. Select your contact list (among others). Once the sync is complete, your contacts are backed up... if you ever need to restore them to your phone, do a sync again and it will restore them from your desktop. enjoy !

Basically a progam that makes your phone work. Makes an electropnic device work for that matter. All your menus, buttons etc. are controlled by an internal software. This is written on what is called a ROM (Read Only Memory). And does exactly that. Once you put the software into the ROM, you can only read off it. You cannot change the software. Since it is written to a "non-erasable" chip, they call if FIRMWARE. When you do a ...

Taubut, I stand corrected. You DO need a bluetooth enabled GPS transceiver for the 6700 to use the Telenav software. I am looking into an alternative way of getting the info. The phone itself has a GPS built in for E911 purposes. I don't see why we cant pull the Lat/Long from that unit. Stay tuned for an update :)

Hi ! Telenav should be able to use the built in GPS receiver in the phone to retrieve your longitude / latitude and plot it on a map (which is what it is designed to do). I will do some checking on this tomorrow to verify that you do NOT indeed need an external GPS receiver. Stay tuned :)
