Re: Does AIM work on LG VX-4600?
Use the Get It Now function on the phone to get AIM. Just go get Apps and browse the selections. It will load AIM, Yahoo and MSN on your phone. Works pretty well.
Re: How do you get the time/day/ date on front at same time?
Interesting. I have no idea how they got that display. I tried going through all of the menu's and couldn't come up with it.
Re: Phone Number Import/Export
I ordered the MOK with my 4600. I had no problem importing my old phone numbers into the 4600. I just converted outlook contacts and Kyocera (old phone) desktop software contacts to .CSV files. Uploaded into my 4600 with no problems.
So far it does not look like the phonebook module of BITPIM works for the 4600. You can upload ringers and wallpapers with it.
Re: Can someone explain the vibrate "problem" to me?
I am pretty sure that the 4600 will work for you. It can be set to Normal Mode for rings/beeps. Manner Mode to vibrate (pressing the * key for a few seconds to toggle between the two modes). It can also be set for silent (NO rings/beeps or vibrate). There is also a Vibrate/High mode, which I think means it vibrates and the rings/beeps go off at a high volume setting. I've never used that ...
Re: USB port?
If anyone is interested I started a 4600 group on Yahoo. They had a group on Yahoo for the 4400 that helped out a great deal with my work phone (4400) so I figured I'd get one started for the 4600. I've put some links on there to other forums and info on software/cables. I am just starting to populate it so be patient. I figured that most of the other forums are general forums ...
Re: USB port?
Godfather,
I don't think that you are doing anything wrong. I agree with heybige, you don't have the correct version of the MOK. Mine had a sticker on it that says 4500/4600. Disc 1 had drivers on it for the 4400, 4500 and other LG Phones. I used the "other LG phones" option and that worked for me. I am assuming that the 6000 drivers will not work. Maybe the drivers work but the ...
Re: USB port? MOK?
You can use the MOK for mobile web access. To be honest, I just bought it to make sure I got the correct 4600 cable and to transfer my contact (phonebook manager) information. I'm not really interested in the mobile web access part of the program.
As far as the Mac OS question goes, I found this on the Verizon website:
"What are the computer requirements for running the Mobile Office service?
All you need is a laptop computer ...
Re: Custom Ringtones question
Yes, you can link custom ringtones to a contact. The custom ringtones that I have uploaded are in the phones "My Media" - "Music" folder. In order to assign a ringtone to a contact just go MENU - 6 (My Media) - 2 (Music) - Pick the ringtone you want - Set As (Left soft key) - Pick the contact you want to associate the ringtone with.
Re: USB port?
To answer your question, there is no "true" USB port on the 4600. That being said, there are adapter cables that you can purchase that on one end has a connector that fits into your phone and the other end is a USB connector that will fit into your computer.
You can purchase the cable at a number of places, one of them being Futuredial and supposedly Radio Shack. I took the easy route and just ...
Re: Removing "Verizon Wireless" banner on screen
There is a way to remove the banner. Basically, you just have to edit the phones file system with a HEX editor. Website below has the instructions.
