uhhhh no. Cingular had to get rid of SOME of the att networks in a FEW cities. in 99% of the coverage, the network was VASTLY increased. cingular has more network capacity than anyone in the US currently. I get comments all the time about how there is already an improvement in many areas.

the phone is under 500.00 so you should be able to insure it through lockline, tho you'll probably get a v551 as a replacement. Have you called lockline directly? The main choice you have to make between these phones is "Do I want EDGE or do I want a metal case?" v551 has EDGE. v620 has a metal case. Other than that, they're almost identical.

make sure your "username" and "password" are set to the specified CINGULAR settings. They are not you own username and password. These settings can be found in the "edit active service settings". also make sure your user name and password are CaSe SeNSiTiVe. i'd guess this was your problem as that's the error you get when they are not correct.
And for some reason I don't think the Voice Connect can be used with a wireless headset for some reason. ...

VZW is CDMA.
Will Moto make something similar for CDMA carriers? Probably not, but if they do, no one would be able to afford it. It's a $650.00 phone. It would probably be 750.00 from a CDMA carrier just because of the cost of the chipset.

Actually, that's nothing different than what Cingular has publicly stated for it's own customers. Cingular does support the 411 directory, but it's customers must ACTIVELY sign up to be listed in the directory. Cingular greatly respects the privacy of it's customers and no numbers will made available to the directory without the express request of the customer.

Maybe that's why VZW was so crabby about the FCC allowing the spectrum swap for Nextel. The team would make an awesome company IF they could pull it off. Nextel owns qchat, and they now have an abundance of 1900mhz spectrum. And Sprint has .... well Sprint has alot of spectrum, too. :? But I still get good vibes from the idea.

Um actually. Cingular offers COVERAGE in wyoming AND montana. VZW offers coverage in oklahoma, but they don't offer SERVICE there. If you are talking about "service", then Cingular offers service to MORE customers than VZW. Cingular offers more digital coverage as well. Cingular also offers more coverage with analog as well.

My factual evidence is that I'VE been on the site almost DAILY for 3 years. I am IN MARKETING. I CONSTANTLY scan all of the competition on a DAILY BASIS. I personally know the guys who came up with that ad. I also know that the info they used at the time was 100% correct. That plan was NOT on the website for a good long while. I could care less if someone like you believes it or not.

Here's the biggest tell-tale: VZW is QUICK to sue ANYone with false claims and false advertising. Just look at what they sued Nextel over (they tried to sue nextel because nextel advertized "cost to coast" walkie-talkie.) IF Cingular had "lied" about something VZW offered, we would have already seen the article covering the law suit on the front page of this website, and ...

here's why.... that plan was not on VZW's website when the ad was posted. That plan was offered in the past but was added back on after the ad I'm sure.
And it's STILL not a "national" plan if you can only use all of the funtions of the phone in "select" areas.

but that's not really the point... the POINT is that 1xRTT doesn't have the capabilities to reach the speeds that Jeff is claiming. The speeds he is claiming is not supported by the current release of 1xRtt. Current 1xRtt peaks at 144kbps. The NEXT release for 1xRtt is SUPPOSED to bring it to 307kbps, but it hasn't even been released yet.

here's what you do.... Go sign up for a FREE phone like a nokia 6010 or something. You then have 30 days to return it without contract fees. You can check it out for up to three days without having to be stuck with an activation fee either. Just go to a Company owned store. So basically YES you can do what you are saying... but it won't be a "loaner", it will be for a contracted phone....

That's a good question, schno. Verizon has industry-best churn rates,(yeah they have the lowest churn rate, but it only SLIGHTLY lower than everyone else's. Exactly WHOM are they going to lose them to? A company that doesn't offer the FAN plan either? Why would they jump ship when the competition isn't going to offer anything like that either. At least with Cingular, they know they have a really big network and other incentives to stay with them. Cingular is offering really sweet deals to customers who are migrating. There are even 150.00 rebates for trade-ins. I think Cingular thought out everything really well.

One reason... it's a much younger company. For example Cingular has been in NYC for 2 years.... the largest concentration of customers is in the NE region: where VZW has had a foothold for years (airtouch, GTE). When Cingular was formed they had ZERO customers in the NE region. They became number 2 in 3 years and became number one when they bought the Most well known name in telecommunications. Cingular's reputation has steadily improved since switching to GSM. ...

Oh and there are NO plans for CDMA 450 to ever be deployed in america... the "long range" technology of the future is GSM 850. Just ask Nokia... they just got hired to EXPAND Cingular's GSM to those hard to reach rural areas...

I still don't believe you... I have yet to hear anyone besides you claim those ridiculous speeds. Especially when you have Cingular claiming the fastest national wireless data service in the US... you'd think that Sprint would be all over that... but they aren't. I own the Nokia 6230 and it's the fastest data capable device available currently (except UMTS and EV-DO equipment). I was able to get to 160kbps the other day but my phone can reach well ...

Well, regardless of what your opinion is... many rural carriers are going GSM and now Cingular will be helping many rural carriers go UMTS as well. Analog IS a thing of the past and will no longer be used by wireless companies after 2007...
