Only issue I've had with this phone is about 50% of the time it will lock up while texting in landscape mode. As the texting program goes to issue the 'message sent' notification, it rotates back to portrait, then tries to flip back to landscape, when it does, it locks up. You have to soft re-set to get it to work again. A registry hack will stop the message sent notification but I'm waiting for something ...
Corporate Store
Geeze. I've never had any real issues with COR stores, or others for that matter. Went in one last week, asking about the Tilt 2 and the Pure. IMMEDIATELY tried to sell me an iPhone. Claimed he didn't know what phones I was even talking about, then suddenly remembered they had a Pure on display. "Oh, the battery isn't charged..........", started arguing with me about why I didn't want an iPhone.

All of our phones are 3G. One of them was in the specifically affected outage area. It did not work either. A couple times, calls TO it was answered by "...this number is no longer in service...."

Does anyone know if it's somehow possible to add a 6th line to a nationwide family talk that already has 5 lines? I know it's mentioned 5 is the limit everywhere you look but was hoping there's a workaround. I have a State of Florida FAN on my accont and have 5 lines already, I REALLY need to get a 6th phone. Corporate stores around me are hit & miss as far as knowledgable reps....

Last couple of years, most recently June of last year, I traveled to Michigan. Detroit/Dearborn I had a strong 3+ bar signal, same thing in St. Clair/East China area. I have a Tilt, internet/e-mail/etc., worked fine when I was in St. Clair for about a week in June 07
PDA plan
I just had to add another PDA plan ($30) to my account. $60 a month just for PDA plans-OUCH. Any plans in the future for some kind of discount when you have a couple of PDA/similiar plans on an account?
Right now I have 5 phones on the account that share minutes, a FAN/business discount that drops the main charge to $69 I think, unlimited shared messaging-$29/MO I think, and the $60 total for the 2 PDA plans. ...

Anyone using this? Your thoughts on ease of use, details, what it shows/tells you compared to what is reality.

Yes, but it will 'brand it' with the ATT/Cingular stuff-it WILL NOT lock the device though to ATT, it will still be unlocked.
I'd suggest you look HERE http://forums.cingular.com/cng/board?board.id =cingular & read up on it before you do it. I've done it but don't care for having a problem using isp.cingular for the internet connection.

I can connect with the media net, but I have the PDA Unlimited Connect plan, isp.cingular is what those in the know here, and in other forums, say I should be using and is supposedly a better connection....

I haven't tried that......I will try sometime today. I NEVER have used WiFi with this phone, even with the original ROM-though I vaguely remember trying wifi out once when I got it last year. Jim

It's set to use "my isp", with the correct settings for isp.cingular. That's what I was using with the previous ROM. e-mail works with isp.cingular, just can't browse the web for some reason. LOTS of folks apparently having this problem with the 8525, according to cingular's forum for HTC/cingular phone-no solutions yet.

8525 Backup
Posting this here too-the phone specific forum for 8525 isn't very active.
Since ActiveSync 4.2 doesn't backup a device so you can restore the 8525 to a previous state-total backup i.e. programs, settings, etc. like previous versions of ActiveSync, I'm looking for something to do this. 'Sprite' looks good. Anybody have thoughts on this program or any others/other solutions?

Try something like Microsoft Voice Command or even the voice tagging that comes with the unit. You press one button, speak what you want done, there ya go.

Ringtone ID. The ringtone ID will only work on a contact that's ON THE PHONE, not one that is only on the SIM card.
Cingular 8525 Ringer ID
Anybody know how (IF) you can set up ringtone ID (not with additional software like Photocontacts Pro, standalone, as in the box from Cingular) for some of your contacts? I can't figure it out.........

Find the tone you WANT to use using file explorer, press & hold, an option will come up saying something like "do you want to use this as a ring tone/set it as the tone......"

I was deciding between the Blackjack or an 8525. More expensive, but went with the 8525. 3G is VERY fast (Orlando/Central Florida). This unit is much better then my HP 6515, one of the reasons I didn't get the BJ was because it also looked 'calculatorish' up to your ear, just like the HP.

Got mine from a Cingular store, there's a coupon inside the box for a free car charger. Wish i knew that, I bought 2 car chargers-would've only needed to get one.

Overseas SIM
Can any of ya'll recommend where I can get a SIM (it's for one of the unlocked phones on my account) card that will work in Greece, Italy, and surrounding areas? Daughter is going over sees sometime in March 07 and I wanted to have her just pop out her Cingular SIM and use her cell over there..... Jim
