Looking good & speedy
Mar 29, 2009, 7:26 PM
in the Article: Video Tour: Nokia Intrigue 7205 forum

That's a handsome phone, and it looks like it runs the VZW ui pretty fast, too. Though my last experience with a VZW feature phone was the Dare, and it felt a bit sluggish comparatively. How's the music player, btw?

in the Article: Verizon Wireless Takes Telemarketer to Task forum

Wow, telemarketing to cell phones is terrible... but I'm glad to know one of my childhood favorite movies is being remade ;)

Re: WOW, why didnt AT&T think of that?
Oct 9, 2008, 3:40 PM
in the Article: Verizon to Start Charging Partners for Text Messages forum

This is terrible, really awful. It's totally double dipping; customers pay for TXT packages, or ala carte, from the carrier already. The FCC should not let this fly, otherwise you can expect other carriers to follow suit. For now I'm glad I just ditched VZW for an iPhone (AT&T)...

One-Click
Sep 10, 2008, 9:00 AM
in the Article: Sprint Announces Slew of New Devices with New User Interface forum

The new "One-Click" on-top interface signals the importance for more intuitive navigation on entry-level phones. It's an evolutionary innovation with clear ties to the iPhone and Instinct GUIs, and a welcome trickle down improvement. VZW's interface on the LG Dare offers similar functionality (keep it coming).

Callwave
Jun 5, 2008, 1:21 PM
in the Article: YouMail Offers Free Visual Voicemail for Smartphones forum

Callwave has done this for a while now. I use it and it's great for my non-smart phone. When someone calls I get a text summary of their vm, and caller id info, plus an email transcript of the entire call. It will be good to have more options in this arena, though I wish the carriers would start offering these services in house...

Re: VZW's enV2
Apr 3, 2008, 11:19 AM
in the Article: CTIA 2008 forum

I kind of like it... I'll wait to see it in person tho, because I'm concerned it's still a little on the big side. I wish they would put a hold switch on it, too. I can't stand candybar soft keypad locks.

SureType Questions
Aug 22, 2007, 10:34 AM
in the Article: Review: Samsung Blast forum

I want a little more detail on using the SureType pad on this phone: Does it work well with the T9? Is the T9 adaptive/does it learn words easily? How does it compare with the BB Pearl's pad? Does it address word dialing, i.e. can I dial 800-GOOG-411 easily? You said the pad lends itself to two thumb typing, but is the pad large enough to do so, and can one-hand be done as effectively with a little practice?

Re: size - Think: RAZR

I read at HowardForums that it's about the same size/dimensions as the RAZR...

Re: slow phone...
Oct 31, 2006, 5:00 PM
in the Motorola KRZR K1m forum

I more or less have all the issues described. Also add to that sometimes when I hit the camera button there is no response. But I figured out when that happens, if I close the phone, the external screen is activated for the camera, and the camera interface is there when I open it. As with the V3m, I think most of these issues will be addressed with a firmware update. I wish VZW would either get ...

(VZW) Calendar NO Daylight Savings Support.
Oct 31, 2006, 4:53 PM
in the Motorola KRZR K1m forum

Just noticed that the my events set to occur after the Daylight Savings switch this past weekend were moved an hour earlier (instead of staying at the time I had intended when entering the events). Add that to the list of Verizon OS calendar problems.

Mine rattle too, but I didn't notice it till just now. Nothing else is loose on mine, tho, it's pretty solid...

Re: insurance plans from vzw
Oct 10, 2006, 11:51 AM
in the Motorola KRZR K1m forum

The higher price plan also adds "Verizon Wireless Extended Warranty," which "covers manufacturer defects." The phone comes with a 1 year manufacturer warranty, and this kicks in after that. Kinda like the Best Buy extended warranty (Just Say No!). I just called and switched to the lower plan

Re: Can you change missed call alerts and other misc. sounds?
Oct 9, 2006, 6:18 PM
in the Motorola KRZR K1m forum

Just go to: MENU>SETTINGS & TOOLS>4. SOUND SETTINGS>3. ALERT SOUNDS>3. VOICEMAIL MESSAGES>1. TONE ...and choose the sound you want. You can also choose to turn "Vibrate On" on the previous menu, this will play your tone AND vibrate at the same time (when the phone is on silent/vibrate it will vibrate w/o the tone as usual).

Re: memory card format? *Movies*
Oct 9, 2006, 6:11 PM

I had no trouble loading music into the memory card, but the movies I loaded (.mov) didn't show up. Anyone have luck with movies? (VZW K1m)

Re: Take it back and buy an Alltel KRZR...
Oct 9, 2006, 6:07 PM
in the Motorola KRZR K1m forum

How does Alltel resemble VZW in coverage? I see that their maps look similar, but when I try to enter in my zip, or the zips of places I visit, it says "no service for that ZIP." I've tried the following cities: Washington, DC New York City Chicago Los Angeles All nada... No thanks.

Re: Glass Faceplate - CRACKED ALREADY (Ethical rationalization)
Oct 9, 2006, 5:53 PM
in the Motorola KRZR K1m forum

That's the equivalent of burning your house down and THEN signing up for an insurance policy. Maybe I'm just more ethical than others. Not really... You have 15 days to add insurance to your plan, and VZW has that "Worry-Free Guarantee." So technically, there's nothing wrong with adding insurance after your break it. If you pass the 15 day limit, you don't even have that option, so might as well. Between the Guarantee ...

Re: Glass Faceplate - CRACKED ALREADY
Oct 9, 2006, 9:40 AM

GET INSURANCE, you have 15 days to add it. Otherwise, check with VZW or Moto for how to get it repaired.

Re: glass front... (Screen Protectors)
Oct 9, 2006, 9:37 AM
in the Motorola KRZR K1m forum

http://www.clarivue.com/ I'm a little wary of that Clarivue screen protector because it says "for KRZR K1 and K1m." They're two different phones, with different dimensions. Anyone who gets this, or another protector (Invisible Shield has one for the K1m), please post a mini-review. Do they interfere visually? Can you see the texture of the plastic? What about fit? etc...

Re: Ambient Light Sensor?! Cool!!
Oct 5, 2006, 10:53 AM
in the Motorola KRZR K1m forum

I've just had such crappy phones for the last 5 years that I haven't noticed. Forgive my ignorance :P On the plus side, I'm sure a lot of people didn't know this, so we don't all have to look dumb

Re: new CDMA PEBL
Oct 5, 2006, 9:26 AM
in the Rumor Mill forum

From the user manual filed with the FCC, there are pictures of the phone with "Verizon Wireless" on the screen. But it also says the phone is single band digital and analog AMPS... Anyone have info when it might come out in the US?

Re: v cast music (as Ringtones)
Oct 5, 2006, 9:20 AM
in the Motorola KRZR K1m forum

If VZW allowed this it would encourage people to actually use the Vcast Music Store, and it actually might lead to repeat visits. As it is now there is nearly no benefit to purchasing music there.

Re: Vibe (AND) ring? (YES, IT DOES!)
Oct 4, 2006, 11:51 AM
in the Motorola KRZR K1m forum

"you can have it just vibe, just ring, or do both...." Yes, but if you want it to "do both" (vibe AND ring) you have to do what I suggested below, as it's not an option from the "Master Volume" menu. I too would like vibe THEN ring, but that just isn't an option currently. Vibe AND ring is helpful if you have the phone in your pocket, but are in a noisy situation/have your iPod in, etc. ...

Re: Vibe then ring? (YES, IT DOES!)
Oct 4, 2006, 9:32 AM
in the Motorola KRZR K1m forum

The VZW KRZR has vibrate AND ring, but you have to go to: "MENU > SETTINGS & TOOLS > 4. SOUND SETTINGS > 2. CALL SOUNDS > 2. CALL VIBRATE > "ON" Now the phone will vibrate for all calls, and ring at the same time if the call volume is up. While this is a little convoluted, thankfully the rest of the UI isn't that bad, imo. You can also assign shortcuts to the D-pad.

Re: Does this phone have a music player that plays both WMA's and MP3's like on the chocolate phone?
Oct 4, 2006, 9:16 AM
in the Motorola KRZR K1m forum

Just put MP3's on the memory card: If you put the memory card in first, then remove, the KRZR adds folders for music, pix, flix, etc. When you drop files in these folders they ARE NOT altered from their format (i.e. MP3's stay as MP3's)

Re: Does this phone have a music player that plays both WMA's and MP3's like on the chocolate phone?

The phone plays MP3's, you can just load them on the memory card.

Ambient Light Sensor?! Cool!!
Oct 3, 2006, 1:47 PM
in the Motorola KRZR K1m forum

I just got my K1m today from VZW, and it's pretty sweet so far. I noticed that the keypad doesn't back-light (consistently) in a bright room or outside; but turn the lights off and it's consistently on. At first I thought it was a defect, but now I'm almost sure there's a light sensor in there somewhere. Anyone else notice this? Should be a good battery saver... 8)

Re: My First Impression (installing MicroSD card)
Oct 3, 2006, 10:39 AM
in the Motorola KRZR K1m forum

I just got mine, and it wasn't that hard to put the MicroSD card in. 1) Just move the rubber stopper out of the way (don't remove it, once the card is in place it goes back that way). 2) Make sure to put the card in STRAIGHT, but at a slight downward angle. DON'T wiggle side to side. It should go in far enough so that the rubber stopper goes back in place. Hope that ...

VZW shipping dept. screwed up :-(
Oct 2, 2006, 4:00 PM
in the Motorola KRZR K1m forum

They left off the "Company Name" of my shipping address. This meant FedEx didn't deliver. I called FedEx and VZW to make sure the company is listed now. Not sure if this is a systemwide bug or just a fluke, but I'd reccommend putting the company name (if you have one) on Address 1 and the address on Address 2, as it seems VZW doesn't care about the company section of the shipping address :?

Re: What Bluetooth Profile Does This Phone Not Have?
Sep 29, 2006, 5:20 PM
in the Motorola KRZR K1m forum

The CDMA handsets lack support for the Bluetooth A2DP stereo profile. source: http://www.mobileburn.com/ review.jsp?Id=2570 Which killllls the battery life, anyway. No thank s to A2DP.

MP3, of course it does!
Sep 29, 2006, 1:45 PM
in the Motorola KRZR K1m forum

Hello!? The K1m(usic) is a music phone, with dedicated music buttons on the front, stereo speakers, memory card expansion, and headphone jack adapter. Of course it has an MP3 player. Jeez, the misinformation on these forums is baffling sometimes. 8)

Re: Rebate?

Well, with NE2 discount it's $99, since you're paying $199 (two year contract) - $100 NE2 credit = $99

Re: Ordered at 9am Shipped at Noon

Saw it in "MY ACCOUNT" (momentarily anyway)
Sep 27, 2006, 11:20 PM
in the Motorola KRZR K1m forum

I logged into my account at about 11:50pm EDT and I clicked to upgrade my phone. The KRZR was there as an option, so I checked it (but it didn't let me finalize the upgrade). Here's what I saw: $299 retail, $50 instant online rebate= $249 New Every 2 Price: $99 (2 yr contract)

Re: is this phone worth waiting for?
Sep 1, 2006, 9:09 AM
in the Article: Preview: MOTOKRZR K1m forum

I HIGHLY doubt that a member of the 50 MILLION strong RAZR family will be a dud. The KRZR will be a hit, and it will be around for a while.

Re: features?? (Outlook)
Aug 14, 2006, 9:10 AM
in the Motorola KRZR K1m forum

The PhoneScoop info page for the KRZR says "yes" there is a PC Sync. The degree of syncing will be determined by the included OS (i.e. whatever Verizon puts on it). At a minimum, Outlook contacts will be supported via USB or Bluetooth.

Re: KRZR vs. Chocolate
Aug 12, 2006, 11:25 AM
in the Motorola KRZR K1m forum

The Chocolate has gotten mixed reviews. Walter Mosberg of the Wall Street Journal totally panned it. And the A2DP is a total battery drain, I completely fail to see its usefulness, let alone practicality. That said, I'm a KRZR fanboy, so I say wait for it to come out and see if it speaks to you :P

Must be like those ads for VZ Navigator where the woman goes to a hardware store asking where to get a Verizon Wireless phone, guess they were being literal

Just get the RAZR MAXX or the RAZR XX if you want High Speed Data. Geez...

Re: not as thin as RAZRs?!?
Aug 2, 2006, 11:55 AM
in the Motorola KRZR K1m forum

Many reviewers who've actually held the phone say the slightly thicker, but narrower body actually give the KRZR a better feel in the hand. The rest of us will have to wait to find out...
