Cellphone Story!....Nokia is the best motorola horrible
Aug 15, 2006, 11:08 PM

Par for the course. I have a nokia since 1996, with the exception of 3 motorolas in 2000. They replaced the first two Motos because they stopped working correctly within two months. and then three phones later and within one year went back to a nokia. I am on my fourth nokia in ten years (6230) and am very happy with it. Word of advice nokia works, they last long, they have great features if ...

GSM CDMA and Nokia
Jun 22, 2006, 10:39 PM
in the AT&T forum

Well I think Nokia has got it right jumping the CDMA ship. Check the article out: This will allow Nokia to concentrate on HSDPA and other new phones. CDMA will not win out throughout the world, although they have gained a lot of market share over the last few years but Qualcomm is going to end up screwing it up for everyone. You have to continue to innovate or die. They don't seem to want to ...

Slower EDGE dataspeeds

EDGE date speeds

I have a nokia 6230 and use it with my G4 powerbook and lately I have noticed increase in speeds while at home. I have Cingular in Tennessee and Tonight I have have had the highest d/l speed I have ever experienced with my phone of almost 200kps at a sustained rate. I used to get about 80-120 throughtout the summer then the I could not use for about a month due to "repairs on the system" ...

I started to read the posts on this forum and I really got frustrated. I just want to know how many of you actually use these EV-DO or any other high speed wireless internet??? The 3G cingular is rolling out is WCDMA based and is slower than HSDPA and EV-DO but HSPDA is only a SOFTWARE upgrade and anything else faster will be hardware,(I am not sure what else is faster right now, excluding WI-FI and such) ...

nokia 6230i rumor
Oct 9, 2005, 10:33 PM
in the AT&T forum

A friend of mine went into a Cingular corporate store today to inquire about some phones he was interested in, one being the 6230. The Cingular rep at the store told him that the phone had been discontinued and that soon the nokia 6230i would be replacing it as soon as November. Any truth to this?

HSDPA...Where is it?
Aug 30, 2005, 9:13 PM
in the AT&T forum

With Verizon rolling out EV-DO nation wide at an alarming rate and coupled with their new reduction in price on their unlimited access plan, it only makes me wonder what is Cingular planning? Already behind in the highspeed race with Verizon and terribly overpriced, Cingular stands to lose a lot of the potential revenue in this virtually untapped emerging market. With Wi-max beginning its testing and eventual rollout there is even more competion waiting on the herizon, ...

springaf- please never post again, you don't know what you are talking about. please read my previous post. Here are some of the main points. 1. Nokia tried and they cannot fix the problem 2. If they fixed it, would it be discontinued? 3. My new phone (another 6230) is now still having the same problems. 4. Discontinued, means they won't carry it anymore and will not CONTINUE to develop and sell the phone or fix ...

Thats an answer. Opposed to Sprint is better than Verizon! See the Difference. BTW, does anyone know how bandwidth is boken down on a tower. Is it like 80-20 voice-data or is it separate like you have 100% of voice and 100% data to be broken down between the respective uses? Thanks -Z

I never had any problems with any unrecieved call charges. Did you activate your world roaming before you left. Basically you just call them up and say you need your phone to recognize other towers in other countries. I don't know if that has something to do with it.

Favorite: Nokia 6230 I have carried nokias for the better part of a decade as a cell phone user. This one is great. nokia's tend to always have great rf and hold on to signals almost anywhere. The simple standard layout and uniform pop port and charger are helpful when switching phones. The sim card means I will never lose my numbers switching phones. The bluetooth will sync to about anything with very little ...

Anyone know any future plans or have any new articles on the subject? -Z

Verizon's EV-DO is the only real 3G technology available (Well 6 cities with UMTS and crappy phones). So not many, I would venture 100,000. That does not answer the numbered questions but the titles of your post. -Z

Minutes Use

I don't know if there is anything I can do at this point but I have gone over minutes by about 200 which will cost about $70.00. Well if you live in the South Cingular is the best. Especially if you travel here and need any sort of data access. I travel all over many rural parts with my work and Cingular is the only one that has proven to be sufficient, but this is my opinion. Verizon is good in many place but data access, like wireless internet and email is non-existant. Sprint you can incur roaming charges or no service, ...
