I called IT and was told unexempt (paid hourly) employees no longer have access from home. Apparently someone tried to get OT while "checking email".

Re: Verizon: Guilty of Union-busting?
May 20, 2005, 11:58 PM
in the Verizon forum

Some previous employees of Verizon have started suits feeling the Verizon is anti-union. The fact is that Verizon does make make union options and information available. There are only about 60 employees out of 50,000 that have chosen union representation. I have done the research and have chosen otherwise. Example 1: the union contract requires a 5% annual raise. Verizon offers 6% already. Example 2: union represented employees are not elig for career progression ...

Re: Calling All Verizon Employees
Apr 15, 2005, 2:16 AM
in the Verizon forum

Well in a comparison I recently saw at work, Verizon employees make, on average, 33 -44% more than the newly negotiated Cingular employees union contract. And from what I have heard, even Cingular employees are satisfied where they are. I can't say how much you'd expect, but the range for a CS rep is between 28k and 50k with experience. Also they pay up to 8k in tuition assistance/yr. As for benefits, the Cigna Insurance reps ...

Porting won't help, it's not verizon that's causing it. People who send those spam text have many means of getting your number. Verizon doesn't sell your info and is even shot down the idea of a directory for our customers privacy. Depending on how many different address you get these text from, you can block the address at www.Vtext.com It's worth it to spend a couple minutes to register and block the addresses. It can be very bothersome, some ...

What I'm saying is that customers couldnt care less if you kiss their butt and are doing everything quality minded. What they want is their problems solved so they don't have to call back. Like I said "rework" or somebody fixing anothers incompetency. Now I don't mean for direct this at you personally, as I know there are a lot of awesome reps who work for outsource companies. I used to work for one myself (Covergys). ...

Um, yes you can. Switch you're phone to system "A" and I will force your phone to another carrier. You can't however guarantee its Sprint. Also this is roaming and thus charged $.69.

I asked the question before but no one responded. I hate to start this but since you brought it up klapper, what "cool" phone features does everyone else have but verizon. The only thing I've seen are stuff like the Nokia NGage which I personally (and I believe I have a lot that would agree) think its dumb. Forget the cellphone and go get a gameboy. P.S. Verizon in fact does have a small amount of outsourced reps. This is done to support call-in rate changes throughout the year. If the demand for reps drops, less calls get sent to the outsources and the company doesn't have to lay anyone off.

Just curious. Since you've tried the two, which do you like better and why? P.S. Have you tried downloading mp3's with the 710 yet. I have and with the 128mg transflash card have stored over an hour of music that sounds suprisingly good from such a small phone.

blockquote> First off, yes I feel ridiculous for beliving Verizon at their word. All verizon literature states that the phone implements "Bluetooth". "Bluetooth" is "Bluetooth". IT IS A STANDARD. I would not expect to buy a car and find out that it runs on gasoline but in the fine print it says it only uses a nozzle that a specific gas station can provide. When Verizon made a change to the specification, it is no longer Bluetooth. PERIOD. blockquote> You know ...

I agree. I own the 710 and my wife has the 6000 and I will agree that in low light or when viewing pix on the phone that quality suffers. However when viewed in high quality on a computer monitor the 710 does actually win for clarity. The bluetooth was advertised primarily by Motorola or by word of mouth before the actual release. That version of software is the same as the T730 which was Moto's answer to the T720. Mechanicaly speaking, they're the same phone.

Re: tri-mod or dual-band
Oct 25, 2004, 8:36 PM
in the Verizon forum

The VZW analog network has been overlapped with digital in 99% of our network. A trimode phone is digital plus analog. This means your phone may switch to analog if better signal exists. The problem, analog is not backwards compatible with digital so your phone may switch to analog during a call but can't switch back unless you end your call and retry. Also features like text messaging, get-it-now, web etc will not work in ...

Not to mention the turnover rate; 50% of the reps I worked with were less than a year employed. Quality and reliability of a company with reps that inexperienced is not "as good or better". I now work for Verizon who bends over backwards to train and keep their employees.

99% of the network IS digital, but the old analog network is still there so some people may pick up better signal in analog. Some people want the peace of mind in having both too.

yeah, he is. I had the 720 for 5 months and had 4 express exchanges; It would freeze up; shut off or get no signal all the time; the software was screwed up; the 730 was a decent improvement on that; some people even have the 720 with new software because mechanicly the two phones are identical

Re: 9900 or wait for new Treo?
Oct 11, 2004, 8:42 PM

I'd go for the camera phone rather than wait for the TREO; the treo is designed to maintain a constant connection while waiting for incoming emils etc; Thus you must add a data package of 29.99 for 5mb or 49.99 for unlimited use. Otherwise you'll be billed airtime for all of the time your phone is connected (i.e. 24/7)

That's great. You weatherd the storm, but lost service to something you could have prevented. But the fact is that very little of VZW' network was affected as well. We also have batteries about the size of a Honda near the majority of our sites so that power failure is not even an issue. Not to mention the "COW's" (Cellsite On Wheels) that we deploy at the hint of any network need. During 9/11 for ...
