at&t vs. VZW
Jan 12, 2011, 12:49 PM
in the Apple iPhone 4 (CDMA) forum

The only difference between the service offered by these two carries is the FACT that on VZW, you cannot talk & surf. I have had service with at&t, VZW, T-Mobile and Sprint. Guess what? They all have issues in one form or another. I am not an Apple fanboy however I am currently using the iPhone 4 and am pleased with it's performance. Is it perfect? No. Is any cell phone perfect? No. As always, I am suspect of some of ...

Reception vs. Battery Life
Dec 20, 2008, 2:38 PM
in the Article: Student's Antenna Tweak Leads to Vastly Improved Battery Life forum

My first question is how is the reception compared to a "wired" antenna? If the reception is less, then what good is a longer charge on the battery? Most phones kick up the power as the signal becomes weaker (to keep connection to the tower) until the handoff. Thus, if the reception is weaker with this new finding, then the extra battery power becomes moot.

Still a...

If you "bring your own" to at&t, then want to get the new BB, you will be able to get your newer BB with a discount (either upgrade or new customer discount). I did this earlier with the HTC a year ago. You may have to try a couple of different stores to find a sales person that is knowledgeable enough to work the retail software but they can do it. :D

Let's see... they are bleeding customers like no one else so let's do something to piss off the remaining customers? Especially since the new CEO is on TV hawking the fact that "everything is unlimited"??? Stick a fork in them, they are DONE! Can you say buy out bait? Sure I knew you could. The ONLY reason I went their data card was the truly unlimited plan. Wonder if they will let me out of the contract with no ...

The carrier will know as soon as you take your phone in for any warranty issue (see link below). Once they see that you have "modified" your SIM to work with this device, all bets are off and you will be buying a new SIM. I think this is a great idea but I also see a lot of individuals cracking their SIMs when they try to punch the hole (and cracking the tiny silicon chip embedded inside). You ...

Isn't this the same guy who took AWE (the first AT&T Wireless) down the drain? That stock never ever reclaimed any of it's IPO value! Say goodbye to Motorola branded phones. Well at $0.001 per min cost (or less) to either of these companies, they are still raking it in. Granted you have to remember their operating, development and repair & maint costs are going up but still... they have not changed their tax filing to a non-profit company. If it was not profitable, they would not do it!

I have worked with a lot of law enforcement and these types of phones are favored by drug and human smugglers. Basically a throw away. Cutting off this supply will not cure the problem but it will cause them to have to resort to other measures. Anything that can be done to disrupt the drug & human smuggling trade is OK in my books. Free country yes, but as the man said before me, we are a nation of ...

Sure it does not play tunes or such but it is what is needed in the construction business. AT&T Wireless had a Mil-Spec rugged phone from Panasonic and it was a huge hit with the construction type business people along with others who work in harsh environments. For what it is, it will be a seller. For you kiddies out there that need flashing lights, vibro-phone with your downloaded games, then I'm sure there are plenty of other handsets ...

Dewd... it's a cell phone for Pete's sake! Not like it's life or death, get a life! Design WAS what was being discussed and I used a solid example (name the car company, I'll give you a model to go along with the same analogy). Owned by at&t? Dude it was a name only thing. SBC (partner with Bell South) owns Cingular. SBC BOUGHT AT&T and just took the name (along with everything else). So... if you want to cast dispersions, throw them at SBC/at&t who also will soon own Bell South so why not go with the world wide known name of at&t? Well how in the hell did I activate a VZW branded V60 on Alltel's network? Simple, I changed the SID and MIN and Alltel entered the ESN into their HLR. Viola! It worked! Now I do know that a Sprint cannot activate on VZW and vice-a-versa due to the frequencies that they use. Like trying to get Fm on an AM radio (overly simplified of course)

Sorry, you cannot transfer it to your card reader them stick it in your phone... but is has Bluetooth... kind of. VZW legal team must have woke up because they finally put the "crippled" statements in their description.

WRONG! First off you have to turn off AUTO-UPDATE option under; MENU SETTINGS INITIAL SET-UP TIME & DATE Once AUTO-UPDATE is turned off, you will have the options menu come up to set time & date format. Once the format is set the way you want... set the AUTO-UPDATE function back to on (if your carrier supports this feature). :D
