Re: To anyone who has seen it in Best Buy
Sep 4, 2005, 6:55 PM
in the Samsung SCH-A970 forum

It was 405 (after tax and extra fees, probably around 450) at the Best Buy I went to. There are only select Best Buys (probably the bigger ones) that have it, and even then, they dont have it on display. So you should call the store to see if they have it before going there and being disappointed. The places that do have it are definitely selling it.

Well the Best Buy thing, as mentioned before, is done as a promotion. So, basically BestBuy gets the chance to sell the phone before VZW through an agreement. In any case, what I heard from the BestBuy salesperson was that VZW stores wont be selling them until a couple more months... although I have heard that it should be coming out on the 18th of September. Anybody?

Question on buying phone
Jun 9, 2005, 3:36 PM
in the Verizon forum

I am about to make use of my 'new every two' program this coming july. i orginally got my current phone when i joined vzw with an inidividual AMerica's Choice 400. It was a two year plan. A year or so into it, my family joined in on the plan. Does this extend my plan? And does this mean that I will have to pay retail price for my new phone, since technically, I am still on this plan? ...

Verizon/Vodafone
Jun 9, 2005, 2:56 PM
in the Verizon forum

I'm not sure how stable the relationship is between Verizon and Vodafone in terms of owning 55% / 45% of VZW respectively... but, I was wondering if anyone knew if Vodafone was planning to make a move to grab all of VZW. I dont know how smart of a move this would be, considering Vodafone prefers their Global Standard GSM. Is there anything about Vodafone considering starting from scratch. In this case Verizon would have to pay back a ...

oh thanks, Rich. So Att wireless is going wcdma, but is cingular sticking with its gsm network? To me that wouldnt make sense because I would think that Wcdma would be the next logical step in developing their gsm network to compete with the CDMA-based carriers. I'm sure there are problems with money and everything, espeically because of the recent buy-out...

and the fact is that verizon's cdma network is more exapansive than any other GSM carriers digital network. Besides, wouldnt you rather have a phone that works in more places (plus the superior call quality that muchdrama stated)? Although i do have a question of my own. Is NTT Docomo's FOMA network in Japan UMTS, GSM, or CDMA?

Apr 14, 2004, 10:47 PM

Well, they each have their advantages - you hit most of them. I personally own the vx6000 and its great. The pluses are that it has very great reception, a 2nd display OLED screen (if that matters) and the picture quality is excellent. The audiovox has a speakerphone but from what I hear it is very obsolete due to the bad sound quality you get for it. The 6000 is bigger physically and weighs more. The audiovox 8900 has ...

Re: LCD PIXEL SIZE
Apr 9, 2004, 7:11 PM
in the Kyocera Koi KX2 forum

well, more pixels means more "dots" that make up the pictures. Inevitabely, more pixels mean bigger picture and better quality because it uses the same amount of space to make up the pictures, but with more "dots", or pixels. Anyway, in that case, the 132 x 176 will be elongated like a rectangle while the 128 x 128 will be a square.

Decision on new phone

in the Verizon forum

I'm lookin to buy a new phone during the summer but i can't decide between the kyocera koi, the lg vx8000 and the motorola v710. I like the koi plainly because of the large screen and swivel design (even though its not spring loaded). I'm looking foward to the lg mostly because of the ev-do support. The v710 has the nice t-flash memory (I don't care much for the bluetooth). Besides these things, is there anything else i should ...

yeah i would hold from getting either of those phones too. Wait a few months and you have motos, a kyrocera, and others that offer megapixel cameras, additional memory, and just plainly more features. I have the lg vx6000 right now and like other people have said, its a great phone. Yeah, thats true. At the same time other carriers using the GSM standard are expanding their network. It seems as though companies like Cingular will have a good, or at least decent GSM network that other countries enjoy. And unlike CDMA, GSM can potentially work on 4 frequencies, correct? With the 800 and 1800 being the world standard - correct me if I'm wrong here. Anyway, with this fact, aren't GSM carriers one step closer to developing an "international ...

CDMA / GSM
Mar 17, 2004, 6:48 PM
in the Verizon forum

There have been a lot of GSM phones coming out lately - seems to be less of CDMA ones. And GSM being what it is, the new phones usually have better and more capabilites. Setting aside the new v710 motorola, i dont see many potentially great phones that will compliment Verizon's CDMA cells. And with Vodafone losing its bid on AT&T wireless, how long will it take Verizon Wireless to begin its steps to develop a GSM network of ...
