You make a good point, however if I have to wait another 3 months for it to be avail. here or the price to go down at Mobilecity, I'd be willing to give the ebay one a shot. I'm hoping the price stays at the current level, $150-200.

As far as I know any Nokia can be unlocked. So now we just need to find someone who got one from Fido and wants to sell. I'll be watching ebay . . .

If the 850 version is released in CN, I don't care if they release it here, as long as we can get our hands on it! We can always unlock it and use it here. If anyone finds the CN version for sale online, please post!

Are you sure you have that right? 79.99 for 450 minutes? In my area (NYC) you can get 1350 minutes for 79.99. 450 minutes is 39.99 (these are regular plans for one phone only). For 2 lines, you will have to go to a familyshare plan. For 69.99 (in my area) you get 700 shared minutes, .45 per minute for overage. For 89.99 you get 1400 minutes, .40 per minute for overage. Check the website, it's pretty clear. If you speak to ...

Yes, its true. For a while VZW was vague (deliberately, I believe) on this matter, and I got 'caught' when upgrading to a Q from my LG 8100, turning down the data plan, thinking I'd just be billed for the $5 mobile web like before. Nope. They billed me $350 extra for data usage that month. I argued and argued that it was unfair since I was using the same sites as mobile web, but to no avail. Eventually, I ...

Im with you. Anyone who doesn't crave this phone right now should have their head examined. Of course only Apple could have made a phone like this, just like only Apple could have made the ipod. AT&T White Sim Card Question
Dec 29, 2006, 1:02 PM
in the AT&T forum

Maybe someone here can help . . . I have an ATT White sim from their original GSM rollout in '02 and an old ATT plan with 7:00 nights.(I am in Pittsburgh, PA.) I have been hearing for some time now that Cingular will be cancelling old ATT plans and forcing everyone to migrate to orange. Can someone confirm this? Will this happen in all markets simultaneously? Has this already happened in some markets? I read somewhere on here that there ...

What market are you in? How did they notify people that they have to get off the plan? I am on a family plan, 1200 minutes + 7:00 nights for $59.99. I am in Pittsburgh, PA. I have been hearing that Cingular will force me off as of Feb. '07 but my brother's company just issued everyone new phones with Cingular sims since they said the old ones will soon be useless.

From past experience, I would take advice from Verizon stores with a grain of salt. I have been able to accomplish many things that the stores had no idea about, or did not want to reveal. Search the forums and you'll find the same. I'd pay Walmart a visit and see where it goes. Good luck :)

Verizon allows you to activate any Verizon phone by going to My Account, Activate Phone and entering the Serial Number (follow instructions). If you buy it from Walmart, however it may not work with Verizon. What you can try is to go to Walmart and copy down the serial number from a display phone or ask them to let you copy one from a box, then go home and try to enter it on the site. It it works, ...

Mary, I know you were one of the original 8100 advocates, so tell me, was it really worth upgrading to the 8300, especially for that kind of $$$? Is it more than just better looking? Also, does your MP3 player work or just the vmusic crap?

It's easy to get pics off the phone via the card and card reader if you change the settings to save the pics on the card. It stores them in under MY_PIX. If you save them on the phone you can copy them to the card and then transfer them off. Also, by using QPST, you can transfer anything to or from the phone or the card via the cable. Search the forum for exact instructions, I think there's ...

I've had the Moto H500 with this phone for over 4 months now and it's been great. Very little static. It always connects very quickly, in fact it connects so fast that you can turn it on to answer a call and it goes on by about the 5th ring. I've found the battery to be excellent, except when taken in and out of the cold a lot. Plus its smaller than the HS820 and looks and feels far ...

Yep it's definitely a wiring issue. Just got my cable today. It has the exact same contacts (2) as the $2.99 RS one, but it doesn't work well. If I plug it in all the way, you only hear sound in one ear. I have to pull it out somewhat, but then the quality of the sound is not as good. I give up. I'm gonna continue using the RS one. Although it is cheap and sticks WAY out from the ...

This one also has three rings. You may be right, on this phone the 3rd ring may be for the mic, which would explain why the jabra has 3 rings and works. Maybe it depends on what the rings are meant to control. The one I bought for my motorola has three rings and a mic and doesn't work on this phone. Can you post a pic of the plug on your jabra?

Then I guess the insurance replacements are different in different parts of the company. In New York, the carrier is Asurion. They only send out refurbished phones, which they stock themselves. I have had a number of phones replaced through them. They come in a plain box, with instructions from Asurion. In fact, there's no literature at all from Verizon in the box, only instructions to call Verizon and/or *228 from the phone. Apparently Lockline gets the phones straight from ...

Worked like a charm! After the phone reset, the 'EV' came on. Btw, anyone else notice way better battery life since the update?

Piggys, on a side note: I have the MobileMate SD+, you don't need to use the SD adapter, if you flip over the reader, the MiniSD goes into the right side of the slot. Good point about safely removing the card reader, I've had similar problems in the past and that solved them.

I've tried many times to get the hidden media player (accessed through the '0' menu) to play files off the card, but it just doesn't find them. That's because it only looks in one folder for files: brew/16452/mf What this means: this folder was intended to be used only for files downloaded through Brew, which is the technology behind GET IT NOW and VCAST. And there doesn't seem to be a way to change that. So if this media player is the ...

True but it does say you can activate a second line and get the rebate as long as you don't cancel the first line. The killer is: 'You must remain active on the account for at least 180 days to qualify' and 'You must wait 60 days from the shipping date on your packing slip before sending in your rebate form'. So basically you pay $100 for the phone plus activation fee, and you send in the $50 rebate form. Then ...
