Re: This will probably be dead on arrival
You are probably right, and i'm glad that it will be. All this equates to is a backdoor way for then to stop net nuetrality. Corps have spent a lot of money lobbying to make sure that NN gets stopped because if it does then it would ensure that they cannot control the content that we want to look at. I seriously don't understand anyone who is against net nuetrality... its for the protection of consumers.
Re: Huuummm
John,
You will never get through to someone who chooses to ignore reality in favor of a fantasy world in which they have made up. It been public knowlegde for a long time that Sprint had a certain time frame in which to use the spectrum aquired through the Nextel merger and therefore they had to go with the tech that was available within that time limit. I would say that choosing WIMAX and retaining the rights to the spectrum ...
Re: yes
Oh I know John. This is an issue that I know we see eye to eye on... Though I think we have similar views on a lot of the issues in the wireless universe.
Re: yes
I'm pretty sure that the point he was trying to make was simple. For having a year and a half to develop this new varient of the iPhone, Apple fell short. You can try and argue it allyou want, but let's face it... this wasn't that much of an improvement. Who could really be surprised though. Apple is notorious for releasing devices that are behind the curve. They purposely fail to include options and features that are basically standard ...
Re: So, There You Have It.
Good thin i moved from Toms River to Philadelphia a few years ago, haha :D
Re: NOT All LTE Networks will be equal
Well played. good sir, well played.
Re: SV-DO and EV-DO Rev B 800-900 multi carrier
AJ, you always seem to bring some great insight and information to these forums and I applaud you for it. I only wish I understood it all the time, haha.
Re: Sprint is the best!!
I live in Center City Philadelphia and never have any issues with my service throughout the entire city. Having said that I am in Brooklyn atleast once a month visiting friends making my way there via the Bolt Bus (They let me take my bike) and I have service everywhere I go in Brooklyn with the exception of being in the subway.
Re: Sprint is the best!!
Thanks for using technical terms like "blows". I would love to see the artical or research study that you pulled this information from. In truth Sprint has a much more reliable network then ATT does and is prety much on par with the reliability of Verizon. Now that doesn't meant hat Sprint has perfect coverage everywhere... no company does. They are all peices of swiss cheese and you try and find the slice that doesn't have holes in the ...
Will the SIRI Personal Assitant...
Alert you if you are holding your phone wrong?
Re: Because
I believe that the term you were actually looking for was satirical newspaper. Truth is that most satire has a certain amount of truth hidden in there. There is no doubt that Apple has brought some interested things to the table software wise with the whole SIRI thing, but I have to agree that all in all the device falls a bit short considering that it took a year and a half to get it to the market. The ...
Re: Wow
Yeah. Sprint no longer wants to attract new customer, grow thier subscriber base, or be competitive...
OR...
They are eliminating a program that virtually NO ONE actually uses because everyone wants the cheapest price avaiable to them. Also, I'm fairly certain that none of the other national carriers even offer one year agreements anymore either.
Honestly you should probably listen to yourself before you post anything rather then spewing off at the mouth about things that make no sense.
Re: Yet another sign
Not nesssarily. As a Sprint employee I can tell you that of my time with the company less then 1% of customers I have dealt with decided on a 1 year contract. Signing the 2 year gets you the real steep discount. If someone were to sign a 1 year agreement on a high end device, iPhone or not, all they are getting is a small fixed discount on the retail price of that device. It isn't like Sprint ...
Re: If you really don't understand...
I am hands down anti-merger... having said that, I'm 100% pro this post. Too funny.
Re: they need to pick one
Actually the major thought for Sprint when deciding to go to the Wimax format was a lot more simple then that. Basically they were given a time frame in which they had to use the spectrum they are currently using for the Wimax network. IF they didn't use that spectrum in time then they would have been forced to forfeit(sp) it. To put it a simple as possible... Wimax technology was ready to deploy within the time frame where ...
Re: I love the double standard
I think the aspect of the arguement that you are failing to recognize is the fact that AT&T already owns a ton of specturm that they aren't using. I'm all about them improving the network quality for thier customers, but use the spectrum you already own before making it an excuse to buy out your only major GSM competitor. That is why it's greedy.
Re: smart riverside
I don't know how long ago Riverside, CA started this project and maybe they can lay claim to it being the first of its kind but here in Philadelphia, PA we had a city wide wi-fi network built out years ago by earthlink (that name alone should let you know how long ago it was) unfortunately its really horrible.

Thank you sir!
Re: There are no positives. None. Whatsoever.
Hey John... You wouldn't happen to have a link as to where I can go to express my opposition to the FCC, do you? I have been to thier website and they don'e exactly make it an easy task to navigate.

Re: It doesn't matter
Cell phones are not a right. I can agree wtih you there. But the airwaves that they run on are publicly owed. We own them. Without those airwaves then these companies are nothing so I believe that it does matter what we as the owners of the public airwaves think.
Re: How exactly...
The only other thing I can think of is that they will try to spin it as creating jobs for the 4G network build out. Thats only a short term job creation though since those network technicians will get axed as soon as the job is complete. Not exactly the long term job creation that the country is looking for. Plus I still don't think it will create enough jobs to offset the stores and call centers that are ...
How exactly...
Will this merger create jobs? Every other time we have seen a merger there is always a loss of jobs through the closing of retail stores that overlap in areas and through the shutting down of call centers. This one doesn't seem to add up for me.
Re: quit your cryin
Seriously, you guys come on here and bash those with knowledge about the industry because they actually have some intellegent information to offer. You two on the other hand have yet to actually present a single decent response to the subject or offer any real insight into why you think this would actually be beneficial to the American consumer. I personally welcome any and all healthy debate on the matter even though I don't believe that this is beneficial ...
Re: sprint is trippin
As a matter of fact I do remember that merger and I also remember how the landscape of this industry was vastly different when the merger occured. Comparing the merger of AT&T with T-Mobile and the way that will completely reshape the competition of the industry is in no way comparable to the merger between Sprint and Nextel. Thanks for playing, we have a lovely parting gift for you.
Re: Does anyone here realize....
:D
Re: You just don't get it
You may be right that we have not yet seen these issues... but that is because the discussion of these such practices are new. The fact of the matter is that the issues I am talking about will become a reality if something isn't put into place to stop it. To say that a problem isn't a concern becuase we haven't yet seen it is pretty flawed logic. Thats like saying we shouldn't worry about the prospect of new ...
Re: You just don't get it
I feel like you are failing to see the fact that without net neutrality it opens the door for these corporations to block or trottle down what ever websites that they see fit. You want to try to envoke China and their blatent censorship but you are comparing it to the wrong side of the table. God forbid the government steps in to protect us from this.
Re: Ignorance amazes me
Thanks. I assumed that my clever word play would do just that.
Re: Ignorance amazes me
If ignorance amazes you then you must find yourself truly amazing.
Re: Keep your
Now correct me if I'm wrong, though I'm fairly cetain that I'm not, but isn't the whole point of the goverment getting involved with the net neutrality issue to make sure that we aren't blocked from being able to access what we want on any connection that we want.
It is my understanding that these private companies that provide us the internet connections and the companies who hold the interests of whatever websites are trying to make it so that ...
Re: For those of you who do not realize
I've read the posts and forums on this site for quite a while and I have to say that you always have quality things to say Slammer.
