Rick, Does this mean this new standard of wireless charging will be like a WIFI Signal ? If one of these future enabled phones goes into a Restaurant or a Shopping Mall will it automatically start charging off of area wide infrastructure hardware ? Am I miss-understanding this news release ?

This should have been done years ago in the USA. These children in adult bodies, do not grasp the full long reaching ramifications of their young actions. This could be easily added to IOS and Android in the Parental Control Settings.

Thanks Rich I read your two articles on 5G a few months ago and really appreciate your explanations to us 66+ year olds. I did purchase a iPhone X , two years ago, with the OLED Screen, and find it amazing. With the new iPhone 11 Pro OLED Max, the differences between the these two are Negligible. One can easily wait for this 5G Technology to mature, and the wireless systems to build out. Some people are never happy ...

Assume they will. Then look for the best exit deal you can get. Above all do not ever believe your management on these matters. They have a fat performance bonus promised them to hold this mess together to the bitter end. Your concerns and well being is the last thing on their minds. I absolutely relied on phone scoop for real evaluations of phones in preparation to purchase one. PHONE SCOOP YOU MUST GIVE US HONEST REAL APPRAISALS ! PLEASE DO NOT STOP DOING THAT. I spent hours on Phone Scoop (2) weeks ago researching phones to update and purchase from Verizon. Say it ain't so JOE, say it ain't so.

Thank you all for your input. I now have from all of you the direction to go. My last phone lasted (4) years until total destruction last week. The LG Octane I chose as a replacement was so far advanced that it scared me for a day. But again thank you all.

Because of the man-dated $30 per line per month a family could with little effort generate a Verizon phone bill large enough to equal a monthly car payment. For this reason MUCH as we would like to have these beautiful Smart Phones we must stand down and watch the rest of you play. Perhaps in a few years things might change, but for now we use the new Feature Phones. :(

Well Thanks to both of you. I had not purchased a phone in (4) years and so so much has changed. The Manufacturers did agree to send me a manual, so on a per occurrences basis, maybe they sell 75,000 phones and have 1,000 manuals printed up for people like me. I wrote this thread for your opinions because I am such a dinosaur. Again thank you for your points of view. AIRWAR

Mar 24, 2011, 10:11 AM

I recently purchased (2) new phones from Verizon, and was shocked to discover no user manuals for either phone. All that was provided was a "Tips, Hints and Shortcuts Pamphlet? I got no where with the salesman, nor the store manager. Called Corporate Customer Care and was provided a Manufacturer's phone number, who after arm twisting agreed to send a free manual. All claim this is a GREEN Initiative. My reply was "that's a cheesy excuse to cut corners ...

I know its hard, but you'll just at some point let it go. I had problems with the plastic hinge. Try the LG Platforms I believe you will find them acceptable given the situation of no follow on replacements for the CDM-9500 or 9900

Re: LG VX-8700-II

in the LG VX-8700 forum

All this sounds fine, BUT if true they should have incorporated this into the 8700 from the very start. Is this the way LG fixes mistakes? We needed a software upgrade to the 8700 before it was even released. I hope this is another hoax because if it isn't the whole LG image is tainted to me. This LG VX-8700 was my first introduction to LG phones from the Audiovox CDM-9500 and CDM-9900. Those were great phones in their ...

Is there such a thing as a Expanded Owner's Manual?
Jun 12, 2007, 12:29 AM
in the LG VX-8700 forum

This thing is too brief. It does not go into the breath and depth I would like to see. For example the manual does not talk about all the camera options with any detail. This might be a high end phone but does that cause LG to conclude the end user is high end to new features every 2 years. I would like to see a better Owner's Manual. LG take a lesson from Audiovox!!! 8O

Well everyone the CDM phones were wonderful platforms. I am sad to have had to revert to the LG VX 9700. These truly were great phones. The Toshiba phones were second to none and I mourn their exit from the cell phone business. The only thing that could have made the CDM-9500 and 9900 immortal would have been to make them with a brushed stainless steel case with a more robust rugged hinge. Plastic cases and hinges were the ...

What I have trended to do is use the leather case for the everyday hard knocks in life. Unfortunately like the occasional drop to concrete. The leather had cushioned many a plastic phone to deter cracking. I then use the pouch in more formal and social settings, and with Bluetooth you don't have to almost touch the damn thing at all.

Re: Verizon Case Disaster

in the LG VX-8700 forum

Yes the case is a disaster. It slides all over the place and you might also notice it's hard to plug in the charging plug and I believe the case interferes with the microphone. Which also might be causing some Voice Command Problems. I was very happy with my initial introduction the Audiovox CDM-9500 and CDM-9900. I'll keep this phone but I am not thrilled with a lot of these "issues".

Re: Voice Command
May 29, 2007, 1:57 AM
in the LG VX-8700 forum

I have tried it both ways. The results are not great. I believe one of the largest problems is my well defined contact list. The list is eight years old and is organized by last name, them first name. The phone's voice command has a lot of trouble with complicated last names. Single syllable simple names seem easy to it. So if your calling hunting dogs ..... no problem other than hunting dogs don't answer cell phones.

I have done it with blue tooth. But let's face it, this voice command is a big disappointment. To me it appears as technology that was not mature enough to be responsibility sold as a reliable feature. This phone looks great but in my opinion, there are features and problems that were not adequately resolved prior to it's release. I am not unhappy with this phone, but I am not pleased either. Maybe LG stands for "Looks Good" rather ...
